Creating a niche market on Cape Cod, Dewey Gardens provides both highly informed and inspired design solutions for our customers along with knowledgeable and efficient installation services. As a result, customers benefit from experiencing a seamless transition between the design and installation phases of a project. We are continuously aware of the relationship between a cultivated landscape and its surrounding environs. Dan Dewey is intelligent, knowledgeable, professional and polite. He takes on projects with a thoughtful approach. He gives you a sense of confidence that he will do what he thinks is best but always in consultation with the client for the aesthetic quality. He has done a large project that entailed a renovation of an old lawn next to a native meadow in a difficult space and did it with care and persistence. I recommend him highly.

My Wife and I have been so pleased with the personal care Dan and his Team have taken of our property and the transformation they performed on a property that has seen several other Organizations fail. Dan came as a referral from our Sprinkler Contractor that has provided us with his services for over 10 years. What we truly like most about Dan, is we can make one call for our Landscape or Lawn Projects and they will be handled . We hired Dewey Gardens to install a patio/fire pit for us. We wanted a large irregular stone look and Dan recommended Goshen stone which we couldn't be happier with. The installation was completed with care, thought and precision with the crew taking their time to place and cut each stone for a great unique pattern. We will use Dan and Dewey Gardens for any future landscaping projects.

Upon further review, not sure I can recommend Dan. Initial installation of sod was done well. He had to tear up the previous lawn and replace it with sod in November 2018. In the spring and early summer I noticed that the sod was overrun with weeds. I called Dan and he stated that because the sod was simply laid over the existing soil which apparently had weed seeds in it that naturally I would have weeds. This of course was news to me and had he mentioned this during installation, there are a number of things that could have been done to prevent it. He took no responsibility and offered no resolution. The end result is that I paid him several thousand dollars and now have a lawn that is about 1/4 weeds. He seems like a nice enough guy as long as all goes well, but will not take responsibility if it doesn't.

While we try to not only meet but exceed all of our customers expectations, we have come to the realization that this is not always possible. In addition to installing a $1500 sod lawn we also helped Jeff Goode with a number of landscaping tasks surrounding their property such as bed maintenance, removal of existing lawn/plantings, transplanting of shrubs, mulching of beds. Jeff and Susan indicated that they were pleased with all of the work that was completed, all of which totalled approximately $2500. In addition to these services, added value that we happily brought to the relationship that we were not compensated for included showing Jeff how his irrigation system plumbing functioned, planting suggestions for both the front foundation and back border planting which ultimately were sourced and planted by the Goode's and finally making contact to ensure that sod was being watered correctly following installation.During the spring of '19, we met with Jeff to discuss the presence of weeds within the sod lawn. At the time, there were less than a dozen dandelions that had germinated. As we recommend to all of our customers, whether they have an existing lawn or are installing a new lawn, a fertilization program provided by a professional service is highly recommended to having a successful lawn. This was part of the conversation from the beginning of the process. Jeff indicated that he was handling the fertilization of the lawn and that he had treated the lawn twice as of mid May, to no avail. Two fertilization companies were recommended and contact information provided. One of the companies provided an on site consultation and pricing which was not acted upon. Ultimately, we chose to forgo a much more extensive lawn renovation for Jeff as it became apparent that his expectations were unrealistic and that he did not heed our advice about seeking out professional fertilization services. We always try to do right by our customers and we take pride in our work. We are grateful for all of the opportunities that come our way. The process outlined above was no exception.

Dan and his team are professional and keep everything (during and after) clean. Dan is extremely knowledgeable about plant matter and is a master at creating cottage gardens in order to have continuous bloom through the growing season. He’s a one stop shop, connecting to tree, stone, design specialists as needed. Would definitely recommend Dan!

After having major construction done on my house, I then needed someone to do major construction on my yard. Dan and his crew were the perfect solution. Dan listened to what I wanted and then took what he heard and created a lovely outdoor space. He totally transformed the front of my house by removing big overgrown foundation plants and replacing them with small natural plantings and grasses that will provide color throughout the year and attract butterflies and bees. He arranged for the total replacement of my driveway and installed a small but cozy blue stone patio. And he took what was a totally bare space and planted grasses that I look forward to watching grow in the years to come. I intend to keep working with Dan in the future.

Hired Dan and his crew from Dewey Gardens to lay sod, transplant some bushes along with various other smaller projects and have to say they did an outstanding job. They were timely, professional and reasonably priced. Dan took such a personal interest in making sure the sod was being watered properly that he came to my house twice to adjust the irrigation schedule. I will definitely have them back for some spring projects next year and recommend them for landscaping projects of all sizes.

As an owner operator- Dan was hands on with our project from start to finish. After the initial consolation about plant choices including what we liked vs the reality of what would do well in our space- the Dewey Gardens team arrived with all the plants needed and then some- returning what wasn't used. We constantly get great comments from the neighbors about the plantings and how well laid out everything is. We really appreciated knowing what was native to the area as well and how the beds would also look in the winter months. 5 stars at plant knowledge too.
