Eckerson Design Associates

We chose to work with Eckerson Design Associates after interviewing several other firms, some of which we have worked with before. What impressed us about Alice and Keith Belizzi, the landscape architect who did the actual design of our yard, was their ability to listen to our views about the unique attributes of our property and to incorporate design elements and plant material that were appropriate for the space. They did the hardscape design as well and recommended a superb mason for the project. They interfaced with the subcontractors with professionalism and maintained great relationships with all of them. It was a very satisfying experience and we now have a beautiful yard to enjoy.

We had a fantastic experience with Alice and Bruce. We did a major renovation of our home and gardens that involved a new pool, new terraces, new stone walls, new walkways, new driveway, new fences, a new garage, grading and draining issues, moving and transplanting plants and shrubs, buying trees, etc. (When I look back on it, I think we were crazy.) Alice and Bruce designed, supervised and implemented the entire project. At every stage, they surpassed our expectations in term of ideas, details and follow-through. While we liked to stay involved and engaged, we could have let them execute the whole project and it would have looked great. They gave us complete piece of mind. I also really appreciated their subs -- their mason, their fencing people, etc. were all very high quality. We ended up with more than we expected or imagined -- so that now our outside space is what people love most about our house. And consequently we have been using it more ourselves and entertaining more. Couldn't recommend Eckerson more highly.

We worked with Bruce Eckerson to re-landscape our entire front and back yard. We also wanted to do some relatively complicated masonry work and build a new stone wall with new steps / entrance to our front door, and he took my ideas and brought them to life brilliantly. He was incredibly easy to work with, constructive in his approach, conscious of price (and where we could be smart to keep the project reasonable), and he guided me every step of the way. He went out of his way to be helpful and check in along the way as the work progressed, and was always available for last-minute changes or questions. I think he has an excellent "eye" for design. Can't recommend him and his firm more highly -- we will only use him again if we need any work going forward.

I used Eckerson Design for a major re-routing of our driveway, new front parking space and accompanying changes to front landscaping and lighting. The results were outstanding thanks to their work. Incredibly professional and very detail-oriented. The project was complicated and had they not thought it through and giving us the right guidance it could have turned out very differently. They got us to think about it differently and we are lucky we did. Great people to work with. Serious about their work but fun to work with. Highly recommend them.
