Kirsten Coffen of Garden Architecture is amazing !!! We have been working with Kirsten for over 15 years and she has brought our landscape dreams into reality ! Her landscape designs are gorgeous and we have beautiful colors and surprises in our gardens all year long. The outdoor living spaces she has created flow into the landscape flawlessly, enhancing the beauty of the nature that surrounds our home. Her attention to detail is exceptional and to see her visions come to life is so exciting. The completion of our 2021 project is a gift that will keep on giving for years to come ! And the icing on the cake- Kirsten is a wonderful person!

Kirsten has done myriad designs for us, both residential and commercial. She knows her plant “palette “ and never fails to produce very lovely landscapes that work in our environment. From conception, design and oversight, she will see the project to completion and ensure it meets her meticulous standards.

The project was a complex challenge for managing stormwater on an historic property, and everything went smoothly without a hitch. Looking at it now, the significant changes are invisible. Kirsten Coffen (Garden Architecture) was great to work with. She redesigned both the landscaping and hardscaping on our approximate 1.5 acre property, including deck work, irrigation, a new well, lighting, a new trellis, a fenced vegetable garden, and the removal of a significant amount of bamboo. The improvement in the "curb appeal" of our property was startling. The contractors that she recommended were excellent, and there were no surprises regarding cost overruns, etc. She had great ideas with the initial design and along the way. She listened carefully to what we wanted and kept us informed regarding progress. Highly recommended.

Garden Architecture has done multiple projects at my house, including: 1. General new house planting beds 2. Perennial cactus and yucca gardens 3. A rock garden 4. A double pond/waterfall/patio with plants 5. A woods/wetland garden 6. A Japanese garden, with shelves/stands for my bonsai and surrounding bamboo enclosure etc. I've clearly been happy with their work, given the multiple projects they have done for me. They are professional and just do a fantastic job. They will also help get a landscaper to do the job if needed. Awesome company!

Was first introduced to Garden Architecture at a Home and Garden Show. FANTASTIC FIND! From concept to completion of both foundation plantings and enhancement of existing landscape, we’ve had an incredibly positive experience and plan to hire the firm again for future projects. Kirsten brings incredible talent and years of experience to her projects—gorgeous yet practical designs with careful attention to detail, client requests, budget, and time lines were evident in all of her work with us. We were particularly impressed with how she sees the potential in existing property features and incorporates them into her designs AND her willingness to make informal recommendations on how to beautify our property. Kirsten is an excellent communicator and worked well with landscape/deck construction contractors. She is patient with and responsive to client questions and though always professional is FUN to work with—MY kind of firm!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

My wife and i recently decided to upgrade our landscaping in the back of the house. On a recommendation, we hired Kirsten Coffen of Garden Architecture LLC. Kirsten was delightful to work with! She recommended a landscaper to add to the bid process. The scope of our project involved hard-scape that needed to tie in with existing hard-scape/landscape and an array of plant material that covered a large area. Kirsten had many questions on what we liked, from colors to materials and budget, and she created a proposal based on this. The results were Fantastic! We ended up using her landscaper recommendation who did a great job!! This was a potentially complicated project made fairly simple and truly improves the aesthetic and live-ability of the back of our house.

We are very selective in choosing contractors for our projects - even moreso when the project is outside and visible to all. Without qualification we made the perfect choice with Kirsten Coffen. She truly listened to our concept and objectives. And, based on her experienced perspective, made insightful suggestions and modifications that clearly put improved finishing touches on the project. Her knowledge of all aspects of the plants involved in the garden part of our project was encyclopedic!! She was responsive, accessible, efficient and effective. She can take an idea and make it come alive. She can also take a more detailed project and make sure all "the i's are dotted and the t's crossed', putting on finishing touches that only a professional might know. Garden Architecture was contracted by the Water's Edge Condominium Association to revitalize the dated landscape within our 15+ year old waterfront community. The plans created by Kirsten and adopted during the summer of 2017 greatly improved the aesthetic beauty of our 32 acre property. Also of note, the project was completed on time and within budget.

Kirsten has 2 degrees from the Ivy League, is a true professional, knows her plants, and has a flair for good and interesting design. She guided our project for a private pocket garden with an Asian bent, as well as more generic planting’s for large expanses. Deer are a problem and all designs were done to keep predation to a minimum. After design, Kirsten oversaw the entire layout/planting ensuring the scope of work followed. We highly recommend Garden Architecture LLC.

From idea to concept plans to design and implementation, Garden Architecture, LLC and Kirsten Coffen are the best landscape architects to work with. I have no landscaping experience, just a few ideas. Kirsten acted as a project manager with blueprints, cost considerations and on site recommendations for the workers. Kirsten interpreted our visions and made them come to life. We could not have done it without her and Garden Architecture.

Garden Architecture did a design for our yard which included a patio as well as new plantings. To make it short, we love Kirsten. She came up with a design based on our input which we were able to phase in over several years. She has a deep knowledge not only of the hardscape aspects, but of specific and unusual plants appropriate for our area and for our style. At our request she was involved not only with the design, but with selecting many of the specimens which we planted. We were so pleased with her work on the initial phase of planting, that we asked her to come back and help us with an area we hadn't originally thought to include. We couldn't be happier.

We do not even know where to begin on this review of Kirsten Coffen with Garden Architecture, LLC. Prior to us meeting with Kirsten, we fully renovated our entire home and once completed, we wanted to completely renovate our yard into an outdoor living space. From there, we met Kirsten and she was the absolute best and most professional contractor we have worked with. Her vision is unlike anything we have ever seen and to see the project develop from paper to reality was unbelievable. Our landscaping project is above and beyond what we could have imagined and every single person who walks by our home, neighbors, strangers, anyone, has commented on it and we have recommended Kirsten to everyone we meet. Along with the landscaping project and outdoor living space being amazing, Kirsten was very great to work with. We did not have too much knowledge on everything with the project from plants, stones, fences, lighting, etc. and Kirsten stepped us through every single item being very detail oriented and it really shows in the completed project. She was ahead of deadlines and consulted us every step of the way. I really have to say, I have gone through many magazines and websites of high-end design landscaping projects and nothing touches what Kirsten did with ours and we honestly could not be happier. The interior renovation project was one thing, but what Kirsten did with the exterior project absolutely completed everything and it wouldn't look the same if she wasn't involved. It was a pleasure to work with Kirsten Coffen with Garden Architecture, LLC. We bought a home located in Ruxton that was on a severe hill and also had many natural trees. Kirsten drew a plan for the entire project and then helped us work in stages to complete the project. Because my yard had everything from total sun to total shade her knowledge of plants was invaluable. Because I planted all the trees and shrubs the total project took at least 5 years to complete. Kirsten was readily available to stop by and provide alternative advise if I would run into a problem. She took such pride in her design she would stop by just to take pictures of the progress I was making. After 18 years we have moved to a smaller, more managable property. I engaged Kirsten to help with a design for this smaller space. The design is beautiful and will provide many hours of enjoyment.

Kirsten, of Garden Architecture, is an expert in the landscape design field. She created a beautiful design, that has enhanced the landscape of our property. Her love of what she does comes through in every design she creates. This is our second garden that Kirsten has created for us and when we moved, I had to have her do our new home as well. Her knowledge, creativity and love of design and plantings shines through in every aspect of our landscape. She is a delight to work with and I will continue to use Garden Architechture for all of our landscape needs.

Kristin Coffen did the landscape architecture of our nearly 3 acre property 11 years ago and made some up dates to it a couple of years ago. The look and feel and durability of the design has remained excellent. She has great knowledge of what works and provides color and interest nearly year around. We have had to deal with walnut trees, under which many things cannot grow, as well as suburban deer. She worked well with our house architect for multiple stone hardscapes and swimming pool and her measurements and scale were right on. We heartily recommend Garden Architecture. Update, We moved to a new residence in December, 2021. Kirsten did the new landscape plan and it is terrific. She worked closely with the landscape installer, the irrigation contractor and the lighting electrician. All have been impressed with her design and onsite management. Our builder gave her the highest marks for professionalism. All in all another great job. We can't wait for it to mature over the coming years.

Kirsten Coffen is a very professional, creative landscape architect. Her ideas bring life to any project and her attention to detail gives any landscaper or builder expert drawings with which to build or complete an outdoor plan. We call on Garden Architecture often to meet with our clientele because we trust their expertise.

Garden Architecture worked with my wife and I to redesign everything outside the walls of our house. The work included a driveway, walks, two entrances, patio, pond, firepit, retaining walls, stormwater management (two rain gardens and an underground surge tank), site lighting and plantings. I am an architect so brought some of my own ideas to the project, good and bad. Kirsten was a great collaborator and a delight to work with. She is knowledgeable about the technical aspects of the work and a creative designer, for our project doing everything from addressing tricky grading and drainage problems to creating a beautiful environment in which we now happily spend as much time as possible.
