I wanted to reduce maintenance in the yard, basically to reduce lawn area to cut, and plant low-maintenance plants in the beds. When I spoke to Bebe about what I was looking for, she developed a great design that met my needs and would also provide color and interest throughout the year. Bebe has been great to work with, all work has been done professionally and thoughtfully. Vic and Louis are hard-working and reliable. I always knew what would be happening next, when they were going to be working on the property, etc. I highly recommend Gardens By Design for their professionalism and quality work.

Gardens by Design of Connecticut, LLC delivered exactly what I hired the company to do: transform my small, suburban backyard into a pollinator and plant paradise. My backyard started as drab and Bebe, Vic, and their crew made it fab. I asked them to take out all of the grass and install a stone path and patio, as well as stepping stone paths. Bebe suggested that we move the patio away from its original location near the garage to give the it airflow and make it cooler. It was a great suggestion. I wanted a color-filled space that would attract pollinators. I asked for drought resistant flowering perennials, shrubs, and grasses and Gardens by Design delivered. It is now the third summer with this yard (the work was completed in September 2019) and the space looks wonderful. Everything is flourishing. Bebe knows plants, that's for sure. She has an eye for plant design and knows how to mix textures, shapes, colors, and heights. Vic knows stone work and excelled in that aspect of the job. I couldn't be happier with the space and would happily hire the company again.

While driving through town, a newly completed landscape project caught my eye. Right in front of me was a garden that immediately invoked a unique and thoughtful design, something I’ve always hoped to see at my own home. Fortunately, the designer had placed a sign on the property, and I was in luck! I contacted Bebe from Gardens by Design three years ago, and it was clear from the very start, she and Vic are in a league of their own. In addition to being very knowledgeable, talented and having an expert eye, Bebe and Vic are wonderful to work with. They take pride in their work and have transformed our gardens in the most wonderful way. Bebe’s use of color, variegated foliage, and layout produce year-round color and beauty. Once our first project was complete, Vic would check on our plantings, making sure they were healthy and being properly watered. Vic not only expanded our irrigation system, but he taught me how to program the controller. He was also readily available to assist with questions as they would arise. In addition to their stunning design skills, they also offer maintenance services above and beyond any I’ve used before. They have since done multiple projects for us, and we continue to use their maintenance services. I highly recommend Gardens by Design. Bebe and Vic will make your garden dreams come true.

Amy and her husband were truly a joy to work with. The "bones" of their existing front garden were decent and enabled us to keep a small grove of white birch trees, a lovely weeping white pine and a few other specimens. We added long-blooming perennials, several Weigela 'My Monet' for their lovely variegated foliage and compact form and slow-growing conifers which I hand-picked. The result is a cohesive landscape that provides color and year-long interest and compliments the architecture of their home.

We hired Gardens by Design to landscape our front yard. We loved it so much we had them back for the backyard. Bebe & Vic were a pleasure to work with. They were very professional &thorough. When one of the tress died after a year, they were back to replace it quickly & without any hassle. We just sold our house &know the beautiful landscaping helped immensely. We hired Gardens by Design last spring and the completed project transformed our yard! We live on a hill and had no level area in our large backyard--as well as a problem with standing water periodically after heavy rains. The creative result exceeded our expectations and resulted in an entirely new "outdoor room" for family enjoyment and entertaining. They installed a dry creek bed to address the water issue and also to make the area very visually attractive. We also had a firepit and patio installed and were very impressed at the workmanship of the crew and the attention to detail. When a water control issue emerged during the project--they addressed and corrected it. Bebe and Vic were wonderful to work with from start to finish.

Joanne, an avid gardener with an congenial adventurous spirit, trusted us to transform her sloping, sometimes sodden lawn with deeply shaded areas. Rather than step the area with rows of tedious costly walls, I suggested we create a gently undulating stream bed of rounded river stone that would be both decorative and functional. This natural-looking feature drains excess water and creates pockets for planting. The installation of a curving retaining wall topped by an small garden provides a flatter, usable area, as did the private fire pit patio enjoyed by the family and friends. A planting berm was formed on the especially steep lower yard to eliminate the sensation of its running away into the neighbors' fence. Plantings are a work in progress due to underlying clay and 2 exurberant dogs. A smaller circular patio outside the fenced backyard is used for morning coffee, lunch or simply enjoying Joanne's lovely perennial garden. Joanne was a joy to work with and I'm very pleased that she and her family are enjoying their "new" yard.

Bebe is an artist that works in botany. We used a variety of landscape designers over the years and wasted a lot of money until we started working with Bebe. She provided a complete and comprehensive approach to the beautification and usability of our property. Bebe and her team were a pleasure to work with and her artistic and design abilities finely honed. She is professional and reliable and I would strongly recommend working with Gardens By Design for any landscaping project. Our yard is now like an outdoor living space. As the seasons of a garden designed by Bebe enfold, you come to understand the wisdom and years of experience that she pours into each design. She meticulously hand selects each plant with knowledge of its size, variety and sustainability. I have trusted Gardens by Design with several of my properties and they have never failed to deliver stunning work. If you are looking for a garden/ foundation planting design and installation that you can enjoy for years, then I couldn’t recommend MORE the experience of working with these passionate professionals. The Canapetti's home is in the Morningside enclave of Milford. Much of this area has a clay substrata that prevents surface water from draining well. Thankfully, they had the confidence in us to allow construction of a permeable patio when this was new technology. This patio gave them a "2-for": an attractive patio that functions as a dry well also. Instead of run-off from a patio worsening drainage issues, the patio's foundation helps drain a too-wet backyard.

She tirelessly designs, picks out planting’s and many other details which are too numerous to mention. She does it all. Her staff also maintain my gardens better than I can.
