Green Scene Landscaping & Pools

The Green Scene is the best VALUE out there in the pool and landscape industry, but they are not the least expensive. We initially worked with The Green Scene and several other design/build contractors when we were exploring who to hire for our new Toll Brothers home. We initially thought The Green Scene was expensive, and selected another firm that was a little less expensive and doing many projects in our neighborhood. It was a mistake. The other company (name withheld to protect the guilty) lied to us, failed to get HOA approvals, permits, and was unable to build our job in a timely manner, or to the quality that we required and we ultimately fired them. That’s when we reconnected with Scott Cohen and The Green Scene crew and they saved the day. All new design plans and permits were put into motion immediately. The difference between Green Scene and the other company was like night and day … it was astounding! Now that we have completed our project with The Green Scene, our yard is the talk of the neighborhood! In the end we may have paid a little more, but we received a lot more quality, creativity, peace of mind, and a sense of pride in our home that is priceless.

When you're considering landscaping and hardscaping for your home it is a big decision, you'll be looking at it for many years every day not to mention spending a significant amount of money. So it is important to shop around and read reviews which is what we did. We chose to go with Scott and Green Scene after meeting with quite a few companies in the area because we went to the office and saw the operation and the schedules and crew management not to mention the portfolio is amazing and we couldn't be happier. The quality and craftsmanship is out of this world. But beyond that they did what they said they were going to do and more and they did it ahead of schedule. We live in a new community and you can definitely see the difference in our house to the rest of the neighborhood. People stop daily to complement. After seeing and hearing the horror stories of our neighbors that used other companies that didn't show up for months or came for a day then left we definitely know we made the right decision. The crews are professional and efficient and CLEAN, every day doing a sweep and removing trash etc makes such a huge difference when we see our neighbors houses with trash and cups and dirt everywhere everyday. There is a pride in what they do at green scene. You can't put a price on piece of mind. We Highly recommend Green Scene and will definitely be using them again in the future for our next home.

I am so glad I found Green Scene! My backyard was a blank slate before our project, and they took all my ideas and made them better than I imagined. They provided much-needed privacy from our neighbors with the additional of the pergola, beautiful landscaping, and custom outdoor kitchen. Can’t wait to enjoy it all!

Let’s face it, if you are considering building a pool, you already know that you are in for some stress and inconvenience. However, the ultimate goal is to have the result of your dreams. The Green Scene gave us the pool and backyard of our dreams. My wife and I had a goal of recreating our experience in Bali in our backyard. When we met with Scott Cohen, he immediately got it. When he showed us our design video, we were completely blown away! It went beyond our expectations. He is no doubt a master designer, and you can certainly tell he has had many many years of experience. He was also kind and patient with us during the process when we would request changes or have questions. If you’ve had experience with typical contractors and sub contractors, I’m sure you’ve had some bad experiences. Our back yard and the front yard is the BEST in the neighborhood! Scott is an amazing designer and he will give you unique design for your home. He has so many ideas! Our neighbors often stop at front of our home and tell us that our yard is the best. And, they haven't even seen our back yard! Greenscene was very professional and detailed in every way. I had terrible experience before with contractor so we were very cautious for this project. Scott impressed me completely. Greenscene completed everything they promised and more. Service reps who stop-by our home for Westcliffe community told us that our backyard was the best he has seen in our community! My husband and I contracted Green Scene for our front and backyard and are SOO glad we did. Honestly, you get what you pay for. There were of course a few other contractors we looked at who quoted a lower price but come to find out they messed up one of our acquaintances backyard, so needless to say we're GLAD we picked Green Scene. Again, just like with anything else, you def get what you pay for. Main things we loved- 1) They have a cool and helpful 3d design mockup, that looks almost identical to the completed project and color renderings. 2) The entire team was a delight to work with, quite professional. It was obvious from the get-go that staff took pride in their work and in turn that translated into a work of art that we'll enjoy for a long time to come. 3) We received weekly email updates which was helpful to know what was coming up next. 4) Scott went through the entire process and answered all our questions. We chose specific upgrades that made a big difference at the end, for example the artistic pavers made a huge impact. 5) They somehow, someway made the backyard look larger. How does that even happen? I don't know but they made it happen. 6) We may be more finicky than others and do strive for perfection, these guys delivered just that. We definitely recommend Green Scene. Our front and backyard look beyond amazing, SO aesthetically pleasing, our friends and family are taken back at HOW beautiful it turned out. Truuullly stunning.

Green Scene did an excellent job. Their attention to detail and craftsmanship is top-notch and all of the materials they use are of excellent quality, no corners cut. Our backyard project was a complete reimagining of the space including a new pool/spa and extensive hardscaping and we couldn’t be happier with the results, it’s definitely a full transformation.

It was great working with Green Scene Landscaping. They were able to handle multiple projects {sprinklers, landscaping, pool renovation, tree removal and patio cover] and helped my yard get a much needed upgrade. Frank, Stephanie and Kim were exceptional and easy to communicate with. Any problems or questions were usually resolved within the day. This review is for anyone considering Green Scene for their landscaping work and our experience working with them. We have a new construction home that needed landscaping and hardscaping work. The front and back of the house were a dirt lot, a blank canvas for making something that we and the kids would use for the years to come. We interviewed 4 different landscaping companies and had a chance to look at the work they had done in the neighborhood. Scott, the owner of Green Scene, came over to the house for a consult. He interviewed with us with a lengthy design questionnaire. We gave him a very high level idea of what we wanted and our budget. Based on our ideas and questions that he asked, he would come up with a design. Unlike most landscapers, the plans/design would not belong to us. We were hesitant paying for plans that we wouldn't get to keep if we decided not to hire Green Scene. After some discussion we did decide to pay the retainer and at least see what kind of design he would come up with. Scott designed and presented the plans in their Design offices. We were amazed with what he came up with. We had just given some basic ideas of what we wanted but he designed something very detailed and elegant looking. It included concepts that we hadn't seen in other homes and details that would make it unique from neighboring homes. We could tell right away that Scott is an artist. He uses a software that enables one to see the design in 2D and 3D as well which gave us a very good idea of how the place would look like. He gave us a detailed line by line breakdown of the project cost. The estimate they came up with was way more than we had budgeted though. Their prices seemed about 15% more than what other companies would have charged. After much debating we did decide to hire Green Scene even though their price was higher. Why? First impressions matter and we got the sense that their concept looked great and their attention to details. Their whole operation seemed very organized and professional. Their plans were good "right out of the box" and we only needed to make small changes. We also liked that they did the entire job and that we could chose all the material at their design center without having to go other places. They begun work right after the HOA approved the plans. Their crew were professional through out the process, there every morning by 7 and cleaning up the area every single day after finishing work. The whole work took about 5 months. It was slower than the neighbors projects but it was for a good reason; they didn't seem to rush things and their attention to detail (to be fair, the rain added to the delay). I noticed them measure, remeasure and adjust things frequently throughout and it shows in the end project. There were also things that they tore apart and re-did that we didn't think had any issues but which the foreman saw flaws in and didn't meet their standards. We never once got the impression that they were cutting corners which can be a concern whenever one works with a contractor. Any change or feedback we had was incorporated without much fuss. Scott picked all the plants and flowers, he is very knowledgeable on them and knows what will look good and what will work in our SoCal weather. From the 30 or so different plants, we only had to change a couple so his overall selection was great. They also did a lot of prep work on the area that the lawn is on. We are on a fairly rocky area and the lawn on homes that Green Scene has worked on seems to hold up well compared to some neighbors. The final landscaping looks great and is close to the 3D rendering that was initially presented to us. A lot of the neighbors have complemented us on how good it looks, especially the front landscaping. In summary, even though Green Scene was pricier than other landscapers, they delivered a beautiful and high quality landscaping. Time will tell how well the construction holds up but based on the work they put in, we hope that it will look good for years to come.

We are absolutely thrilled about the way our backyard turned out. What initially sold us on the Green Scene was the design (Scott Cohen, the owner, blew us away with his design plan) and the fact that the Green Scene was a one-stop-shop and would eliminate the need for us to hire and supervise any other contractors. We were very pleased that even with a heavy rain season, the Green Scene delivered our backyard on time and amazingly, it looks exactly like the conceptual video that Scott had provided us at the outset of the project. We also can’t say enough good things about Frank, the project supervisor/manager. He is calm, cool and collected and is very responsive to anything that comes up during the project. Overall the entire team at the Green Scene was professional, reliable, and provided an A+ oasis that has become our favorite part of the house. Thank you Scott Cohen and team. We love it!

I have worked with Green Scene Landscaping on many architectural projects involving strict HOA guidelines and restrictions and I have to say this company is amazing! The plans they come up with look like works of art, they are responsive and kind. I can't say enough about Scott, Tyler, Stephanie, Kinsey, Jose, Everyone! I highly recommend them for any major landscaping and pool projects you are planning on doing!

We decided to go with Scott at Green Scene because we really needed a creative eye to help us design our pool and landscape our backyard. Scott has an amazing ability for redesigning even the most challenging yards. The quality of the work and the end result was unparalleled. Demolition was quick and not intrusive. Green Scene turned our basic backyard into a beautiful, family-oriented oasis. Our project foreman, Eric Sharon, was incredible and always accessible to answer our questions and concerns. Some constructive feedback is that we were also sold on the project management support, which we felt was inadequate. Communication from our PM, was poor and many times actually incorrect. Due to our work schedules, we could not be available onsite every morning, to discuss plans with the project foreman for alignment and relied on the PM support. This is an area for Green Scene to improve to ensure scope and timelines are aligned.

My husband said it best: “I didn’t even like my home before you did the backyard. Now I love my home”.

Scott and his team are awesome! Took a very challenging hillside and turned it into an incredible outdoor kitchen, an additional lower deck with fireplace and a custom stainless steel spa. Scott really solved the problems with his creativity and vision. We wanted a pool but the hillside didn't exactly lend itself to anything traditional. Scott designed a custom spa for us that looks like it's in ground, seamlessly blending into upper (which was existing) and lower decks, which are now seamlessly covered in cool travertine tile. The whole Green Scene team does quality work. Scott knows his stuff and makes logical, thoughtful recommendations. Frank is a gem too. I highly recommend them!

Green Scene is the real deal. I’ve seen them around the area for years and now I know why. Scott Cohen and his team are professional, on schedule, visionary, and most of all, talented. They handle everything from design, permits, HOA fiascos, to the choosing of appropriate plantings for, in my case, a microclimate in a canyon. I had a very specific idea for my hardscape - nearly impossible - and Scott made it happen. Green Scene turned my 1+ acres of 1980’s blah into a 2018 oasis to be enjoyed for decades. Seriously, my backyard rivals hotel grounds. We love our new outdoor spaces, we use them, and we cannot recommend Scott Cohen’s Green Scene highly enough.

After dealing with a nightmare dealing with a different contractor for an entire year, we had to rip out everything and start over. Green Scene Landscaping has done two major projects for us through the years, both were beautifully designed and executed. The front yard was our first project. Scott's design made our home look much more expansive with a curved flower bed, inviting entry patio, peaceful water feature, beautiful plant choices and perfectly placed landscape lighting that made it as pretty at night as it is during the day. Later we hired Green Scene to design and execute our back yard. Scott incorporated a lovely raised entertaining area with a wisteria covered pergola, a gas fire pit, beautiful landscaping and hardscaping along with a lighted fountain. Every time we go into the back yard a sense of peace comes over us. Our friends feel that same emotion when they visit. It truly is our sanctuary. Green Scene does great work at a fair price and made two major projects go very smoothly for us. We love the results and they have enhanced our quality of life.

I can't say enough about the positive experience I had with Green Scene Landscaping. From start to finish the experience was nothing but pleasant. Scott came to our house and looked at what we were working with. To me it was a dirt lot being used to store weeds and garbage. To Scott it was a canvas he could paint a dream on, and the portrait he painted was way beyond my expectations. They show you the design in Virtual 3D before you decide to proceed. And it's not some generic pool laid over some generic house. It's Scott's vision brought to life from your suggestions and his creativity right in a model of your house in full color that you get to walk around in with the virtual reality goggles! During the whole process you'll go to their office a few times to pick out colors, coping, pavers, plaster and other things I can't remember. All of which is in their show room for you to see and touch. It's fantastic. If you don't want to drive all over the place looking at pieces of your puzzle, then this is your company. I could go on and on about the whole experience but I'll just touch on some very key points and let the before and after pictures speak for themselves. Scott himself: The President of the company comes to your house every couple of weeks to check up on you and your progress. If you're not happy with a choice you've made he'll have suggestions for something else. If you want to add something, he'll be ready to go over the merits of your idea and the placement of it. It's the kind of personal touch that makes you feel good about your decision to use Green Scene. His crews: Professional, courteous, neat and quiet. With the exception of equipment that is, by nature noisy, I heard no raised voices or loud music. Both things I've experienced in the past with contractors. His office team: Responsive, courteous and helpful. E-mails I sent were answered in a timely manner. Phone calls I made were picked up. Texts I sent were responded to. What more can you ask for? Inevitable problems that will almost certainly crop up: I had another company come and install fencing and gates. (Green Scene doesn't do fencing and gates, unfortunately) They did a great job but there was a problem. The latching systems they used were not up to code and we couldn't pass inspection until it was rectified. Frank, the foreman on my job, did everything in his power including being the go-between and assisting an entirely different company to get them changed out. It wasn't even his work and he still went out of his way for me. This is the kind of unexpected service that gets your company a positive review from me. I couldn't be happier with my choice of Green Scene to make my pool a reality. It's something I've wanted since childhood and the reality is even better than the dream and I have Scott and his team at Green Scene to thank for it.

We used Green Scene for a total backyard redo -- redesigning an existing pool, adding a Baja Shelf, fire pit and lounge area, all new app-controlled equipment, new landscaping, BBQ and bar area, patio covers, landscape lighting, etc. Their team is cohesive, creative and attentive. They worked with the city and local Homeowners Association to obtain all permits and kept us well-informed of their scheduling plans. Having done any number of activities over the years, we have learned that no major construction like this is ever completed without some bumps in the road and scheduling issues. Yet our main goal was to have everything done for this summer's swim season and they achieved that. Attached is one "before" and several "after" pics. In summary, Green Scene is a class act...not inexpensive by any means...but you get what you pay for...first rate design and execution!

We engaged The Green Scene for a landscaping project including a large swimming pool, spa and koi pond. It took about a year from start to finish. We are pleased with the outcome and highly recommend Scott if you are looking for an award-winning, awe-inspiring outdoor living space. Design Scott is a gifted landscape architect who strives for delighting his customers with his creativity and imagination. He had incredible abilities to draw insight from our conversations and translated it into design concepts. Scott was keen on reflecting the Spanish style of our house in the design while incorporating several eclectic elements with a masterful touch, creating a perfect aesthetic balance and stunning visual and sound effect. The project has transformed our backyard into a resort-worthy total experience of entertainment and relaxation. Craftsmanship Scott understands the process of co-creation that goes beyond the design phase. He involved us throughout the project from planning to material selection and construction. Scott set a high standard on craftsmanship and demanded great attention to details. His team was dedicated, hardworking and experienced. The crews, supervised by Frank, were open to feedback and willing to make necessary modifications to achieve perfection. The overall quality was sound. Rey's masonary work was exceptionally superb. Scope, Budget, Schedule The project scope was not insignificant, nor was the cost. Opportunities existed to ensure the alignment of the details in the contract and the drawing to avoid any misunderstanding. The schedule was one of the most challenging aspects of our project. The construction commenced in the fall. As the rainy season started, the project ground to a halt, and we ended up with a ginormous mud hole in the backyard for a few depressing months. After a year-long anxious anticipation, the architectural rendering was finally turned into a beautiful reality. Despite the protracted timeline, the bliss of our newfound paradise is absolutely worth waiting!

Excellent experience with Scott, Lisa, and the entire team. We had a complex project to landscape, hardscape, and light our front and back yards. From the moment they began on the project to its completion my wife and I were impressed by the entire team. Scott takes the time to listen to your project goals, and he works promptly to give you a beautiful plan. The execution of the plan and attention to detail are really what sets The Green Scene apart from other landscaping companies. The finished product was better than expected. The Green Scene recently completed a remodel of my back and front yards. They did a great job and I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Being new to California and new to having a yard that needed to be designed from scratch, it was overwhelming to think about this massive project and how to find the right person to help us achieve everything we wanted for our new California home. We are so lucky we found Scott Cohen and The Green Scene! Scott and his awesome team...including Lisa, Frank & Ingrid...were so great to work with and gave us a beautiful outdoor living space that exceeded what we thought was possible. We bought our home pre-construction, and we chose our lot for the view...not necessarily for the layout. Green Scene helped us transform our backyard and gave us the indoor / outdoor living experience that in the California weather is a true gift. Scott is no doubt very talented at what he does. He has an incredible eye for design and to see the finish product before the project starts. We had a few design challenges along the way and within minutes each time, Scott was able to come up with a resolution that worked for all. If you're looking to bring resort-style living to your own backyard, Scott is your guy. Incredible design and excellent workmanship. Scott was flexible and responsive and his staff was courteous and professional.

Project: Front yard and back yard (including re-doing our pool plastering with quartz/coping/tiles/lights, pool automation, bbq pit, bbq grill area, landscape lighting, veggie beds). New grass (both turf and real)...fruit trees/other ornamental plants. We had been thinking about re-doing our landscaping as some of the existing items were outdated and becoming eye sores. Did some online research and came across The Green Scene. We are very happy that we did! As with any significant home project, we were apprehensive but at each step of the way Scott and team met or exceeded our expectations. The team that we worked with included Frank, our onsite project manager, the folks in the office that kept us updated and provided timely responses when we had questions... Lisa/Ingrid). A couple other highlights: - A CAD rendering was provided/shown which was helpful to visualize how things would look. - The crew was always on site and was continuously busy (shows that they do a good job of planning out the work flow). The short of it is that we are happy that we found Scott!

We met Scott Cohen recently when looking to remodel our backyard, build a BBQ station and renovate our 25 year old pool/spa. He provided a magical video illustrating how our completed project would look. We were awed by the design and decided to engage Green Scene. The work was performed flawlessly under the direction of supervisor Frank within the schedule projected and cost estimated. The sub-contractors and Scott's crew worked cleanly, courteously and professionally. We could not have dreamed or anticipated the magnitude this transformation could create. We hired Green Scene for a major remodel of our back yard. We wanted to transform an old looking yard into a resort-like backyard that we could enjoy and use for hosting our friends and family. Scott Cohen really impressed us with his design ideas and his extensive knowledge and understanding of outdoor remodeling and landscaping. He was able to transform our outdoor space into a beautiful and inviting resort, with many appealing features such as a BBQ corner, pool/spa combination with waterfall features, and a fire pit. Our son loves the sports court (with half a basketball court marking) and we have been getting nonstop compliments on how the new yard looks like it's been there all along, Scott and his company were able to create the upscale, yet not pretentious, look and atmosphere we were attempting to create. I wish they had more stars!!! We interviewed a lot of people for our complete backyard remodel. From the first meeting to the end of the project Scott and his incredible team exceeded expectations. Scott's design expertise was wonderful and really helped us because my husband and I do not always agree on decorating choices. Scott was the perfect mediator and managed to make us both happy. We love our backyard, it is truly a beautiful outdoor living area. Everyone who worked on this project was amazing from the demolition, hardscape guys, electricians, plumbers and landscapers. The communication was great. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. We love our new back yard!!! Amazing design!! I can not say enough about this wonderful company. If you hire them you will not be disappointed.

I'll let the picture speak for themselves. The pictures don't do the yard justice. We previously had a L-shaped patch of grass, which during the drought turned into a L-shaped piece of brown dirt. We decided to redo the yard and went to another company who was well known in our area prior to looking at Green Scene as they were out of the area. What a world of difference! After getting nowhere with this other company, after our first meeting with Scott, we had a 3-d model of our yard within 2 weeks. The model completely blew us away with the design aesthetic. Scott and his team are above and beyond imaginative and will work to get the job done. There were a few minor issues along the way, but as anyone who has done any sort of project would know, there will always be hiccups here and there. Green Scene for the most part handled them well. I can't stress enough the importance of communication. My dad, an engineer with very high standards, was in constant communication with Green Scene. It kept the project flowing and Green Scene delivered within the 4 month time frame as promised. Frank, the job foreman, comes and goes. You will barely get to see him during your project, but when he's around, he's very attentive to any issues which may arise during the project. It's best to keep in contact with Frank as he is the one responsible for getting the crews to do the job right. If you have any masonry work, I cannot give any more stars for Ray and his crew. Though it was only a small crew, 3 people, the work these guys did was phenomenal. Just keep in mind though, his crew is not the fastest but the work they do is superb. Scott was very thorough in his presentation and was very attentive during all our meetings. He answered any questions and addressed any concerns we had during the meetings and throughout the project. Scott was on site personally on several occasions to assure that the project was up to his standard as a designer. Just keep in mind your budget and Scott will do his best to fit a project within that budget, but there are just some things worth splurging for, and our yard was one of them. Green Scene won't be the cheapest or the quickest, but by the time your project is complete, you will have very little to complain about and your yard will be a talking point for any guests who come to visit.

I researched tons of pool and landscape companies before finally deciding on the Green Scene and I definitely made the right choice. Scott designed the perfect backyard oasis and his team worked really hard to bring his vision to life. Project manager Frank assured us that he’d have our back on anything that needed to be done and he definitely followed through. I now have everything I want in a backyard – it’s truly become a 24/7 outdoor living room where I can relax, work, dine, swim, and watch TV from the new spa! Green Scene is definitely in a league of their own and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again in the future!!!

I work for the largest commercial landscape company in the country, so I knew when it came time to redesign the backyard in my home that I was looking for a partner that was imaginative, proactive and committed to achieving a high-quality product. Green Scene delivered extraordinary results, a backyard that looks like it belongs in a catalog, a five-star, resort destination just outside my door. Since wrapping up the yard about one month ago, we've entertained groups small and large, adults and children, hosted intimate dinner parties and all-day pool parties. Every person who has seen Green Scene's work has commented on the magnitude of the transformation from a dated yard into an inviting environment rich with color, class, variety and usable space. There's no question that the quality of the workmanship is excellent and I highly recommend Green Scene. That said, as with any construction project, there were minor hiccups along the way. If I didn't mention them, I'd be dis-servicing those considering Green Scene and not providing a balanced review. A few things to keep an eye out for: (1) Communications - I can't emphasize enough the importance of having a strong project manager on the team. Ours started strong and faded considerably along the way. If you can get Scott, the owner, active on your project, you're in great shape. He is extremely client-focused, proactive and brings forward great ideas. (2) Materials Selection - we weren't initially impressed with how our PM presented materials to us, bringing only a few options for consideration while not understanding why that approach wasn't working, as I'm an extremely visual person. It wasn't until we proactively suggested going to a few showrooms to look at products that real traction was made. And once we began that process, Scott joined us and spent a tremendous amount of time helping us find the right materials that fit our vision. While experiencing these frustrations real-time, they seemed bigger than they do now, given the quality of the final product, yet to disregard them completely also doesn't feel quite right. It's worth also pointing out that since completing the project, Scott has continued to remain available to us, as we have had questions about the yard, or to fix small problems that have arisen. We really appreciate how he stands by his product and strives to ensure our complete satisfaction. All in all, Green Scene is an honest, hard-working company, clear experts in landscape design-build. You can't go wrong with them.

Scott Cohen has an incredible flair for landscaping design. Scott’s challenges with our yard was to make a sloping yard flow without making it into 2 levels, adding to the existing hardscape so that it looked like the yard was done all at the same time instead of 8 years apart and basically anticipating exactly what we wanted when we didn’t even know. Well, He did it! With the addition of the built in BBQ area and the Fire Pit We love our yard, it is so beautiful! In our front yard we stayed with the basic design that we already had but Scott embellished with some hardscape and accessorized with lighting and beautiful drought tolerant plants we now have the prettiest house on the block. Now let’s talk about the crew that did it all. Frank led the team that worked on my project. There really are no words to describe how amazing his crew is. They take pride in their work and I never felt that they were rushing so that they could get to the next job. As issues came up and things changed they never made me feel like it was an inconvenience. I have worked with a lot of contracting crews and Scott’s team is by far the best I have ever worked with. It is rare these days to find a contractor that actually cares and provides the type of quality work that the Green Scene provides. The bottom line is….I would definitely hire them again.

My wife and I purchased a new home with no landscaping. We worked with Scott to create a plan that did not include a pool. Our desire was to have as much space as possible to grow fruit and vegitables and this was achieved. We wanted a KOI Pond off our dining room. This was installed complete with a faux wood deck. Our yard is very colorful and we are happy with the result. The workers were always respectful and did a great job. I would rate Green Scene as one of the highest price landscape contractors in the business. In all honesty the job did take longer than we expected. We are happy the work is done and the job is complete..

Scott is a very good pool and landscape designer, and helped us maximize the functionallity of our limited backyard space, creating an awesome and beautiful backyard with a modern pool. The Green Scene's job supervisor Eric and his crew were a team of hard-working and courteous professionals, working diligently throughout the project. We are extremely greatful to them for making our backyard a dream come true. However, we were less impressed by some outside contractors. The Green Scene office staff managed the permitting, project management, and other functions exceptionally well and were always professional and responsive. We are also greatful to Scott's office staff for their work on our project. Given the complexity and magnitude of these types of projects, it is inevitable to have delays, technical issues, and other complications. Scott and his teams' years of experience is extremely valuable to help minimize the unavoidables. We have been enjoying our pool, spa, and backyard for the last three months. My family is looking fordward to years of magical times in our backyard, swiming in the pool, relaxing in the spa, barbecuing on the outside grill and entertaining our guests.

Scott Cohen and The Green Scene came out to design our outdoor kitchen. Although the project got behind a bit, Scott's artistic design and his team's quality work got us to expand the scope of the project to include a sun pad and a fire pit area. We now have an amazing backyard that our family enjoys on a daily basis!

We used Green Scene on our new home. They did the entire project including a pool, spa, bbq, landscape, and hardscape. Overall, I was happy with Scott and his team. The staff working at my house was very friendly and accommodating. He is more expensive than other contractors but the overall quality and design of my yard I feel couldn't be replicated by anyone else. He has a vision for colors, and design and steered us in the right direction. He even recommended tiling my spa, which looks AMAZING..... There were some hiccups during the project which I would expect from any contractor however, it was all taken care of. At the end of the day, I would use him again on a future project.

We had the Green Scene come out and redo our pool, including adding a baja shelf, a fire pit and seating area, redo our BBQ and put pavers down on our patio. We couldn't be happier with the outcome. Our project did take a little longer than planned, but we have really been enjoying our new backyard!

After seeing Scott Cohen's work at our cousins house, we knew The Green Scene would be the perfect choice to remodel our backyard. Our project was quite large, consisting of a pool and Jacuzzi remodel, BBQ, pergola and putting green. From the initial consultation all the way through the construction, The Green Scene team was professional and an absolute pleasure to deal with. This is a very talented group and we highly recommend them. So much so, that we decided to have them remodel our front yard too!

Our backyard was a big waste of space and had no flow. Our yard is in slope, so a few other designers had made it multi level. When we met with Scott, he came back with an amazing design. He worked the slope into his design. Now our back yard has a great flow, we have gorgeous vanishing edge pond, incredible fire pit, and a great sports court for my kids to play basketball. Scott opened up the whole back yard by moving our bbq area, Our outdoor kitchen is fantastic for entertaining!! The only thing is it took longer than what we had anticipated! Other than that We love everything about Green scene and would highly recommend them!!

When I first bought my new home on Westlake Island, I had no intention of putting in a pool. (Famous last words.) But I knew instantly that I wanted to improve and maximize the view, starting with changing out the windows and getting rid of the white wrought iron fencing across the back (which totally obscured the small ribbon of lake my house sits on). I’d fallen in love with La Cantina bi-folding glass doors, so they were a given. But…I soon realized that, in effect, they would “bring the backyard inside” and guess what? My backyard kinda sucked. A slab of cement and some grass. Ugh. I started thinking about water features. Being a Google kinda girl, I browsed the Internet for local pool contractors but nearly every site I landed on left me uninspired. Bland, boring pools. Nothing caught my fancy. Then, as luck would have it, the next day I got a random flyer in the mail from Scott Cohen’s Green Scene Landscaping and Swimming Pools. At last! I was immediately drawn to the sophisticated flare of the designs as well as the innovations that set them apart from what I’d been seeing on-line. When I first met with Scott, my vision was nonexistent. Pool…spa…maybe just a fountain…I didn’t really know what I wanted nor what I could fit into my seemingly miniscule backyard. As I recall, Scott guided me through the process of describing my “ideal”—which, as it turned out—was the dream to have an Infinity (or vanishing edge) pool. Surely, that was beyond my limited backyard space, right? Maybe not, he said. Next, he was able to help me land on the vibe I was looking for—a resort vibe, I concluded, and if you can throw in a swim-up bar, all the better. Still, you really have to picture it—I don’t have one of those sprawling Southern California backyards. Surely, turning my humble little space into what I was describing would be impossible, right? It wasn’t. Within a week, Scott presented a beautiful colored rendering of what he envisioned that included everything I’d asked for. Was it cheap? No. But hey, the stuff in life that’s worthwhile never is. I signed a contract that very day. I’d be lying if I said the road from that point forward was smooth and even. Hardly. HOA permits, City/County permits, extra engineering, blah blah blah…it seemed never-ending. But one thing I truly appreciated was that I rarely had to deal with any of it. Scott and his staff represented me and my interests during all facets of the process. And in a very professional manner. I know it’s a cliché, but something I learned about this project is that everything truly is a journey, and there’s no sprinting for the end-line. About two weeks ago, the final milestone happened—the filling of the pool. Seeing that grey pit turn into a remarkable structure of beauty was its own reward. I’ve heard through the grapevine that this was no ordinary project—that, in fact, a lot of pool contractors either wouldn’t or couldn’t have taken it on. So I’m thankful that I discovered The Green Scene in the mail that day. And I’m congratulating myself on not skimping on the extras that I wanted—the fiber optics in the bar-top…the cool color wheel offering a myriad of lighting effects…the Jandy touchscreen to control everything from inside…the beautiful fire pit…and yes, I even got my swim-up bar in the Jacuzzi. Everything I wanted. Let the parties begin!

Quality of design and execution of the project were both top notch. Love the pool....very functional and excellent for entertaining. The outdoor kitchen is a masterpiece with the pizza oven is tops.

We met with several pool contractors/designers; Thankfully, we met with Scott Cohen at Green Scene Landscape. He exceeded our expectations with his design/vision; Scott's 3D illustration that he presents is the finished product, We couldn't be happier with the look of our front and backyard. We've gone through two major remodels. Anyone that goes through construction knows of the challenges and patience required to see it through; Scott's knowledge and expertise is evident in your first meeting as it relates to design/pool/construction/landscape/hardscape. His employees are responsive/accessible/professional. You owe it to yourself at a minimum to have Scott come and sit at your kitchen table.

What a professional group to work with. We decided to redo our BBQ. area. We had a consultation with the owner, Scott Cohen. What a nice guy. He really took time helping us plan what it was we were looking to do. He had great suggestions. Seriously, he knows what he's talking about. They really aim to please. We thought the prices were very reasonable considering all the time they spent in our yard. They showed up on time every day. The yard was left immaculate each day before they left. The crew of guys that worked at our house were great. We love the work they did. We use the BBQ. area all the time to eat at and just hang out. If you're looking for reliable, hard working, and reasonably priced guys, give them a call. We had a great experience. Can't wait to do the rest of our yard with them!

We just completed a major home remodel project that included adding a spa, redoing the pool, hardscape, driveway, landscape and lighting. We couldn’t be happier with The Green Scene! We previously worked with Scott Cohen and The Green Scene when they designed our last back yard for “HGTV’s Get Out Way Out” and we really enjoyed the experience (and loved the results). When we purchased our new home, we called Scott to consult with us regarding the changes and additions we wanted to make. Scott has tremendous vision and walked thru the creative possibilities with us, which was a big help, as this was a substantial undertaking. Scott’s design team created beautiful drawings of the backyard in 3d that we could view before we contracted for the work. This was very helpful to see the design in color and from all different angles. There was a lot of coordination required as our new home was being built as well. Between the General Contractor, Interior Designer, and The Green Scene the entire project took over one year to complete. The Green Scene office staff was great at communicating with the other parties involved, and Lisa, the Projects Manager was extremely flexible and helpful about rescheduling the crews to work around other contractors. Scott has been with us every step of the way - from getting approval at homeowners association meetings, to bi-weekly site meetings, to the finishing touches and details. His crews are the best! His crews specialize in each area of the work being done. They are all very talented. The supervisor, Eric was really easy to work with and made sure we were happy throughout the sometimes-messy construction process. We love our new outdoor kitchen (and my husband especially loves the look of the polished glass and concrete counter tops). The new pool and vanishing edge spa enhanced the views. Our friends and family are amazed when they see the backyard and we can’t wait to do more entertaining. We can’t say enough about the relaxing atmosphere Scott created. We had an excellent experience working with Scott Cohen and having Green Scene transform our backyard into our own private getaway spa and resort. Scott initially spent a few sessions with us to explore what we wanted in our backyard, how we used it in the past for entertaining, what we thought was lacking, and how we anticipated using it in the future. We discussed various features we might want and then let Scott’s creative mind loose. After a few modifications to the initial design and plans, we settled on a design we liked and moved forward.It’s amazing how the 3 dimensional rendering looked so much like the finished product. We knew from the start exactly what the yard would look like and how it was to be laid out. All along the way, Scott continued to make suggestions and used his expertise in advising us on the best layout for the various features, such as setting up our outdoor kitchen with the proper work flow for barbecuing. Scott is more than just a designer; he is truly an artist. It was fun to watch him during the construction of our hillside waterfall. He stood at the bottom and directed his crew as to where to place various sized rocks. The waterfall is spectacular and one of our favorite features. Scott also suggested a deep well and full body massage for our spa, which is a feature not to pass up. Using it is like having your own personal masseuse waiting for you in your yard. The Green Scene crews were always polite, courteous, and professional, and they do great work. The crew members take pride in what they are doing and really seem to enjoy seeing the project evolve, or as one put it, “go from a mud hole to a beautifully finished outdoor space”. We are extremely happy with our backyard paradise, enjoy sharing it with family and friends, and would certainly recommend Scott and The Green Scene to anyone contemplating a backyard remodel.

Scott Cohen is a Brilliant Designer. We hired him because other contractors could not see our vision for what we were looking for in our backyard remodel. Not only did Scott Cohen find our vision, but he nailed it! We wanted a backyard retreat that would only be found in nature along side a Classic Design. The project did take 2 months longer then originally estimated, but once we started the project, we found ourselves adding more detail as we went along. As they say, A work of Art is never rushed, and the final product is well worth waiting for. I can honestly say, not only did our backyard dreams come true through Scott's Design Expertise, but also from his talented crew, Jorge, Mario, Jose, Willy, Eric, and many more, they brought it to life, and Absolutely EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS. The Backyard Remodel is a dream come true. We enjoy it every day and every evening whenever possible, and the compliments from friends, family and neighbors are abundant. We are so happy that we hired The Green Scene. I think that his project portfolios speak for themselves.

In February of 2012, we contacted the Green Scene to help us with developing a design for both our front and back yard. Our home had no existing landscaping so our yard was very much a "blank slate". In our initial request, we were looking to convert our yard into a highly functional outdoor entertainment area that included a pool/spa, fire features, BBQ, patios and landscape (plants, grass, trees, irrigation and lighting). Two of our friends had worked with the Green Scene on their yards and gave solid recommendations for the work performed. We had also contacted a couple of other providers who landscaped our prior home, as well as some landscape companies that worked exclusively in our community. While many of these other companies came in with lower bids, we couldn’t help but notice that their example projects looked the same and hadn’t really “aged” well. In the end, we chose to work with the Green Scene based on the recommendations of our friends and seeing how their projects held up over a number of years. To begin, Scott developed a couple designs for us to review based on our design preferences, shape of the yard, use of space and the surrounding views and neighbor’s yards. The initial designs were very good and provided good ideas, but didn’t quite provide us with the “wow” factor we were looking for. After explaining this to Scott, he suggested that we spend some time together sketching out some ideas together that we could incorporate into the overall plans. So on a cold Saturday morning, Scott came to our house and we worked closely with him at our kitchen table to develop new plans that perfectly captured what my wife and I were looking for. It was a pretty impressive experience to see the sketches come to life right before your eyes for those of us lacking the creative gene. After we approved the plans, we were required to gain approval from a landscape committee for our community. Scott and his team worked very closely with this committee to ensure that the documentation was complete and self-explanatory and that any questions or concerns they had were being properly addressed. For context, this committee was very picky and their review process dragged out for four months. During this time, Scott demonstrated a lot of patience and willingness to appease the highly redundant requests from the committee members. After this exhaustive review process, we finally broke ground in August 2012 and wrapped the project in December 2012. The team that was deployed was highly organized, very neat and incredibly professional. During the course of the project, Scott made sure to meet with my wife and myself almost every week to walk through progress and address any questions or concerns that we had. During these walkthroughs, he provided us with an overview of what to expect in the upcoming weeks. In tandem with this direction, our project manager, Lisa, kept us informed of key decisions required during the process and significant upcoming milestones. Given the complexity of the project and the involvement of the city inspectors during many key points in the project, it was very impressive to see it come together so quickly. From a cost perspective, we will acknowledge that the Green Scene is not the cheapest company we looked at. What is important to keep in mind, however, is the long-term value associated with their workmanship. As stated previously, many of the example projects from the other companies we reviewed were in dire need of improvement (concrete cracking, plaster wearing, coping falling apart, fixtures not working). The key to get comfortable with the added cost was to look at what we would avoid in re-work by using the Green Scene. During the project, we did choose to upgrade a few features during the project, which did increase the scope of the project, but had we not made these decisions, the project would have come in as was originally budgeted, 10 months earlier. During our previous landscaping projects, we encountered many hidden costs that were not previously considered in the contract that unknowingly raised the cost of the project. Overall, we are extremely happy with the results of the project. The hardscape is truly amazing and while we have had some different thoughts about some of the plant selections, we plan to remediate those over time. Moreover, it is almost one year after the completion of our project and Scott and his team are still fielding questions and fixing any issues that come to fruition to ensure that we are 100% satisfied with the project. While it might seem trite, they really do stand behind their work product. As previously mentioned, we used two different landscape construction companies at our prior home, but found this experience, the work quality and the "wow" factor to be second to none. We would absolutely use Green Scene again without hesitation.

I could not be happier with my backyard make-over. Scott listened to what I wanted and he made it happen. I have a very small backyard but I wanted my own little retreat with a pool, spa, fire pit and bar counter. I got it all using every inch possible, now my backyard looks 10x's bigger. The staff & Green Scene workers were wonderful, very responsive to all our questions and needs. My husband really enjoyed over seeing the project (he is retired) and working with Eric the foreman on the job. I would highly recommend them for any project that you would like top quality work done. We passed every city inspection with flying colors!!!

Scott Cohen has great ideas and a great vision. Our slope on the side of our yard caused me some concern and he was able to utilize a fantastic design that worked with our environment. Our pool is absolutely breathtaking and since we entertain a lot, Scott was able to integrate fabulous ideas to make entertaining easy and comfortable. His initial drawings really helped bring our ideas (and his) to life for us. (We needed visuals...). He focused on all the concepts we wanted (a spillway or waterfall effect, BBQ/outdoor kitchen, entertainment areas/seating, focus on the view of the mountains) and collaborated with wonderful and professional workers who were able to quickly finish our job so that we could enjoy our pool over the summer. Scott is not afraid to tell you what will work and what will not work for your yard (ie. plants in the shade or sun, trees which grow successfully in the Valley, etc.). He was always kind, courteous and showed up on time for appointments. We love the Green Scene and Scott Cohen!

We are in the midst of a complete backyard rennovation with Scott Cohen of Green Scene Landscape. We have only wonderful things to say about Scott and all of his employees and subs. First of all, Scott's conceptual design of our yard is nothing short of amazing, and the guys are bringing it to fruition. The pool, which includes a perimeter overflow spa, two in-pool tables, a large baja step, a slide, water runnels entering the pool, and four fire features is truly a work of art. The crews arrive timely every morning, are respectful, polite, and are artisans in their own right. We are so excited to see the finished product and will definitely post pictures!

We are wanting to relandscape our back yard. We contacted Green Scene at the recommendation of a friend. The photos Scott brought and the videos we saw on HGTV definitely make us want to use this company. He was very professional and we liked him very much. He was interested in making our yard fit us and our lifestyle. But, our budget doesn't :-( His designs are beautiful and I have confidence that if we used them we would be very happy with the outcome. It's hard to make these big decisions and it's been over 6 months since we met with Scott and haven't gotten started with another company yet.
