Kelly's designs have been featured in a number of publications, including the book "Backyards: A Sunset Design Guide" and Taunton's "Fine Gardening" magazine. She appeared as a designer on HGTV's "Landscape Smart," as well as sharing her own home on "Small Spaces, Big Style." Kelly also traveled to China for a PBS documentary exploring the ancient gardens of Suzhou, released in 2015. She has been designing drought-tolerant, often lawn-free, gardens in the Bay Area since 2002.
"I don't "design gardens." I create beautiful spaces, where people can connect with each other." --Kelly Greenwood
Her unconventional designs address the total curb appeal of a home, emphasizing a comfortable, unpretentious flow throughout, to maximize enjoyment of the whole property year-round. This includes specifying indoor-outdoor furnishings, fabrics and styling to complete the design, and incorporating opportunities for play. She lives in the coastal redwoods with her husband, grade-schooler, two cattle dog mutts, and a rescued feral cat, but still believes it's possible to have lovely things.
