With offices in Los Angeles & Portland OR, HINISH approaches the landscape from a sculptural standpoint, working through a comprehensive process from concept to construction. Each commission is viewed as a canvas, where earth, architecture, ecology and materiality are manipulated to cultivate a space unique to our client and their needs. It is our goal to understand the set of problems our client has with their property from which we define the program, thus developing a comprehensive solution to serve the individual and their family both functionally and spiritually. Our artistry is displayed when we go beyond what the client expects or understands. It is our responsibility to create an environment that contains emotional elements outside the defined program.. mystery, beauty, surprise, delight. Elements which are intentionally placed, but only present themselves to the user in their most conscious moments, allowing our clients to enjoy the spaces we design for a lifetime as they constantly evolve. HINISH DC is a young a vibrant design studio, constantly seeking innovative and sustainable design solutions for complex sites across Southern California and the Pacific Northwest. Our process and style is in constant evolution as we innately learn from each project we're commissioned. We hired Aaron to redesign the front yard of our home in the South Bay which was initially all lawn. Aaron and his team designed and competed installation in about 3.5 months, leaving us with a beautiful, functional, native California garden where we can now enjoy watching butterflies and birds come visit. We get so many neighbors who walk by and comment on how well the project turned out. The quality of work was very good, and like any project there were hiccups, such as dealing with the City on what type of material could be used for the parking pad but we eventually got it done. Overall, I feel Aaron and I worked well together and he understood my vision of what we wanted to accomplish. He was a pleasure to work with and would highly consider working with him again on future projects.

We've been working with HINISH Design Collective since Spring of 2019 and continue our collaboration to this day. The front yard makeover continues to evolve with new additions and revisions. Its success inspired us to extend the renovation to our side and back yard. We wanted it to be in dramatic contrast from the front. As if when passing through the gate, you walk into another world. Aaron's team rose to the challenge. Their plans have created a lush, exotic habitat that is entirely fresh and novel. We are eager and excited to begin this new design phase. The increase of property value resulting from our front yard improvements has been a nice side bonus. The true reward has been an enhanced quality of life. Our partnership with Aaron and his team has been another gift, in which mutual trust and comradery has grown through the years. Working with HINISH Design Collective has been a creative and rewarding experience. They are fair and honest in their approach to business. I strongly recommend them for their top-quality work ethics and for their amazingly talented design team.

Aaron, our landscape designer, worked wonders on our once lackluster concrete and astroturf yard, turning it into a breathtaking Mediterranean oasis. His creative vision and meticulous attention to detail were truly impressive. The entire landscaping team was outstanding—professional, reliable, and incredibly friendly. We hired Aaron over a year ago to develop a masterplan for our backyard which is oddly wedged between a stone cliff and our home. The space was unusable and uninviting. Aaron was able to create a wonderful outdoor space to entertain friends & family, where our kids can play in the pool while the adults lounge close by. His process is fluid, and although we had a number of major changes to the design & scope he was able to reconsider design solutions while maintaining communication and staying within budget. It's difficult to find a contractor who cares so much about the quality of work and is willing to adapt as issues arose. We've worked together for 18 months and have felt safe and confident knowing Aaron cares as much for the project as we do.

In the 5 years we've lived in our house we never spent time in our backyard because it wasn't a usable space. Working with Hinish DC, they transformed our useless backyard into a terraced garden which is now our favorite space in our house. The entire process only took a few months from the initial consultation with Aaron and each step was painless. We're spending all our time outside now because the design, layout, and functionality are amazing.

We worked with Aaron, Stephanie and Hadiza to redesign our 4,500sqft urban lot. The design set they produced was amazing, creative and modern, defining zones for relaxing, dining, lounging, talking, playing and soaking in our future hot tub. We love the solution they came up with for our outdoor fireplace, which is the focal point on the yard and passively divides the adult and kids lounge spaces. They are good listeners and never made us feel embarrassed when we asked a question or made a novice suggestion. The way they presented the design, explaining the use and intent behind each space rather than simply what it is, enabled us to see how our family's life would fit within their design. We look forward to seeing their design come to life!

After my husband tried to do the work himself for 2 years, we decided to hire a professional. Our landscape was outdated with poor soil and I never felt myself looking outside.. truthfully I avoided it. We brought on Aaron to renovate our property, including the courtyard our AirBnB guests use. I didn't know what to except but I absolutely love the look of our yard and it's something I'm proud of. The courtyard is now a feature on our listing which I'm sure attracts guests. We've referred Aaron's team to several friends and colleagues. Don't hesitate to give them a call!

I contacted Aaron to come up with a solution for the front yard and ended up having his studio redesign my entire property. The goal was to remove all my lawn and replace it with a low maintenance, drought tolerant planting scheme that was also aesthetically lush and beautiful. The design work was top quality. The plan that had been created was very detailed and covered all my questions. My feedback was appreciated and it felt like a partnership, we worked towards the best design. They cared for the installation the same way they cared for the design. Very knowledgeable folks who are passionate about their craft. After the installation was completed, I was surprised that they would want to check in with me once everything has fully grown out and their full vision has been realized. Aaron's team did a fantastic job transforming our muddy, uncomfortable backyard into an inviting space we truly enjoy. The rear of our property sits under a dense canopy and was unusable for our daughter and dog. The design Aaron & Hadiza envisioned met all our needs, providing multiple seating areas and blending the existing architecture with new elements, all while using a naturalistic but low maintenance planting scheme. We now have a beautiful, modern and safe space for our daughter to play and comfortably entertain 20 guests. The construction process went smoothly. The crew was efficient and used high quality materials while staying within budget. When labor costs exceeded the budget, there was open communication and we were able to find a middle ground.
