Kerry Lewis Landscape Architecture

KLA provided design plans for our outdoor renovation project. Kerry was great to work with and listened to what we hoped to incorporate into both front and back yard. We appreciate the design of the walkways, patio, seat and retaining walls, plant material, and lighting so much and find we love the details the most- the stone path along the edge of the woods, stepping stumps, and even the drip strip! We receive so many compliments from neighbors and visitors.

I had the great pleasure of working with Kerry and her associate Angie this past spring-summer, 2019. I sought her out to re-do our entire garden design in our front yard. When Kerry came out for an initial consultation in the fall, she sized up our situation quickly and made recommendations that expanded the scope of our design work. She suggested that we could do our design work in two stages and was not pushy or insistent on doing it her way. However, we're so glad that we listened to her recommendations as our 3 separate gardens are now quite upgraded and uniform! We've had neighbors compliment us on our front yard who also share in our enjoyment of our perennials through the various seasons. We had Kerry come back in the later summer to see the gardens and discuss the few enhancements that could be made next spring. Kerry knows everything about plants, trees, and perennials. She's like a walking encyclopedia! She is extremely pleasant to work with, very personable, very reliable, and quite down to earth given the extent of her experience and longevity in this field. She's a true professional! If we had landscaping architectural work to do, we'd hire her in a heartbeat!! Not only to work with her again, but also for her creativity and beautiful architectural work. Another bonus: she referred us to Gary Sherman of Countryside Tree & Landscape who moved seven rhodies and andromedas out of our former garden to another part of our yard, put in all the new plantings, re-graded part of our lawn, and mulched & re-seeded. He is a real seasoned pro and did a super professional job with his crew.

We had quite a large landscaping project to do on a property where we had extensively renovated the house and almost all the surrounding plantings had been obliterated! Kerry, who has a great eye, created a beautiful design, using native plants and she also came up with a really nice concept and design for the hardscape. She was a collaborative partner and the product is quite lovely. I'd certainly work with her again and recommend her to others..

Simply stated, Kerry is a brilliant landscape architect - she has worked with and guided us through our complicated Cape Cod homesite project and the evolving design journey for our Boston area primary residence. She has a wondrous ability to read a site, identify the potential for the hardscape and plant elements and interweave this technical and practical knowledge with her client’s needs and vision. The results for us are two beautifully sensuous and functional spaces. We hired Kerry Lewis to plan the renovation of an urban garden that had become a battle against overgrown and inappropriate plants. The objectives were to contain the plantings and driveway within a new hardscape in a relaxed and harmonious garden that would require less maintenance and add winter interest.We are delighted with the results. Kerry has an excellent knowledge of plants and came up with a planting and hardscape plan that reflected our objectives with some interesting and creative plant choices. She was easy to work with - very responsive to comments reflecting our desires, budget issues, or design problems and quickly came up with attractive work-around when the latter occurred, and her fees for the design work were reasonable and efficient. As the pictures reflect, the design is successful in providing winter interest, and we look forward to enjoying the garden when spring comes.She also handled specs and bidding with contractors, and we were very happy with her recommendation of a frequent project partner, Gary Sherman of Countryside Tree & Landscape, Inc. as the general contractor for the project.

We hired Kerry Lewis to help us with a complete Landscape renovation of our property. She is responsive, timely, and incredibly knowledgeable in every aspect of landscape design, masonry and lighting. Our project was done over two years and she kept track of every detail, major and minor. A great example of Kerry's care and attention to detail is when after hundreds of trees, shrubs and annuals were planted Kerry returned and planted over a thousand bulbs that when they bloomed in the spring we received notes from neighbors telling us how breathtaking our yard looked! I'm and architect and have worked with Kerry on many projects. It's impossible to overstate her excellence! She is a great design talent and problem solver, knows her plant materials, is a great listener, works incredibly hard, and most importantly, she makes for happy clients. Love her!

We did our homework. We contacted, and received bids from, ~5-7 landscape architects. Kerry came highly recommended. Her bid showed creativity and the attention you would expect from someone who runs their own business and is working in the field of their life's passion. The service in the program was outstanding, and it was real science and drawings and discussions about plants...colors and growth patterns. Kerry carefully diagnosed our goals then produced a creative layout. By 'creative' I mean the shape of the lawn (organic vs plain rectangle). The height of the plantings at different levels of maturation (thorough!). We had a diagram for 'layout' (plantings' placements) and a spreadsheet so we know every type of plant, and it's characteristics, in every section of the yard. We had a 'color board' on Pinterest that showed the plantings at maturation. The colors *as the Spring-Summer-Autumn seasons progressed*, which has been perhaps the most amazing attribute of her landscape design now that we've had a full season. At each stage, drawings. Discussion. Feedback. Quick turnaround. So the result... Our yard shows color at every stage of the season, balance, diversity of plantings and a shape that's unique and natural. We love it. Throughout the process, Kerry was responsive, easy to work with, enthusiastic and she *cared*. Spot-check visits and oversight of the crew who did the stone work and plantings, at various stages, kept schedule and quality on-track. [Her recommendation for the landscapers, Bonadio & Sons, was *excellent* as well] I highly endorse/support/recommend Kerry Lewis. Her services were, in a word, "incredible."

This is third design we worked with Kerry on and much different from the previous two. We asked Kerry to do an informal design incorporating primarily native plant material. She did a fabulous job transitioning from the existing woods to meadow and then into a more 'landscaped' area around the house. She used the challenging natural topography and incorporated and highlighted the site's extensive ledge. She works well with the contractors and oversees the installation process. We are big fans.
