We hired LandArt to design and build a backyard “oasis” - to transform our space, enhance our home and make our backyard feel like a resort/holiday. Today as I look at our new backyard I am in awe of the beauty that they created - large covered Douglas Fir Deck, pool with pool shed, natural stone waterfall and new garden beds. We are so thankful we chose LandArt for this project and in the end, they delivered on their promise - they built a one-of-a-kind oasis, on time and on budget. They deliver on their promises. Here’s why I recommend them: 1. One of a Kind Design: We were going to be making a significant investment in our home so I did my homework. I researched various companies and LandArt continuously received 10/10 reviews. How is this even possible I wondered? We interviewed several companies and did onsite reviews of their existing and past projects. LandArt’s projects immediately impressed me - each design was different, unique and fit naturally into the space. Richard and his team spent a significant amount of time with us listening and learning what we valued and how we wanted the space to look like and “feel”. The design that they recommended was breathtaking and flowed beautifully with the natural Niagara landscape. 2.A Company with Integrity: They are on time and on budget. They assigned one project manager that I worked with through the design phase and 3 month build - just ONE contact person for the entire build. I received a calendar which included a listing of all activity and trades for each day. Devon, our project manager, responded to each question, concern immediately. As I met more people from LandArt I quickly learned that everyone was also integral, respectful, on time, customer focused. They are easy to work with.. and in a complex world….. their level of customer service is what makes them unique. We thoroughly enjoyed working with LandArt from our first meeting with Richard, through the design and planning process with the team and the execution. The work that went into turning our blank canvas of a backyard to the backyard of our dreams was more extensive than we expected and we were so impressed by their unwavering commitment to excellence at every stage of the process. We have received so many compliments on the creative design and workmanship. We were not able to be on site during most of the process but we trusted LandArt completely to do quality work. They posted pictures at the end of each work day – those pictures were the highlight of our day as they allowed us to see the day-to-day progress. Just wanted to share our experience with Rich and his team at Landart. We did a full backyard rebuild in 2020. We started our design process with Rich and Devon in May of 2020 and it was a fun and exciting process. We made several changes over the design phase and they were always open to our ideas and we were open to theirs. In the end, together, we created the perfect plan. Next step, implementation of the plan. Each day Rich's crew was on time and worked steady through each piece of the design. From Dave and his carpentry crew building our new extensive deck complete with outdoor kitchen, large eating area, beautiful large steps down to our patio, a bridge joining one side of our backyard to the other, a sunken hot tub with full access to hot tub equipment, our gorgeous pergola to our separate cabana. Amazing!!!! Landart uses only the best materials every step of the way to ensure years and years of stability and a great look. Then we move down to the extensive patio including firepit area, pool lounge seating area with gorgeous stone steps down to our cabana, which consists of part change house to part pool equipment room. Nick and his masonry team installed stone around our new inground pool which is beautiful and exceeded our expectations of how much stone can change a look around a pool. Nick and his masonry team also installed stone countertops in our outdoor kitchen which everyone raves about. Rich subcontracted Dream Pools and Stirling, owner, also exceeded our expectations. Stirling's team was also always on time and delivered top notch work and service to us. Also using the very best in pool equipment options for us. Our pool is so easy to operate and they are always a text away with questions we have ( we are new pool owners). And our review would not be complete without talking about Debi, landscape designer and the landscape crew. We opted for artificial turf, and would never look back. Our gardens are perfect. With Debi's design skills and input, we selected a mix of evergreens and perennials so our gardens look spectacular all year round. Debi has also been a great help to me in teaching me the proper maintenance to keep our gardens perfect. We can not say enough about Landart, each and every member of Rich's team and would not hesitate to recommend them for any type of project. The will make your landscape dreams come to life. In May 2021 we reconnected with Richard Wynia at LandArt. We originally met with Richard in 2015 to contract a landscape design at our previous home in Toronto. However, life presented an opportunity for us to move to the Niagara region which we could not pass up, so we did not go through with the project, but more importantly Richard left a lasting impression on us. We were starting a pool renovation in the spring 2021 and saw the opportunity to also look at updating our landscaping. When researching landscape design companies in the Niagara region LandArt came up. Without a second thought we contacted Richard based on our previous experience with him. Richard met with us, then the great design team of Debbie and Devon spent time at our property, which resulted in an outstanding design that was beyond what we could have imagined. In my 30 plus years of project management experience on large infrastructure projects, the most crucial aspect is always to have a comphrensive design plan. The absence of one typically results with increased costs if the “knowns” are not accounted for, “the while were at it lets…”, or “that doesn’t look right, lets change it”. The design from LandArt that was presented to us addressed the knowns and potential unknowns. Richard and Devon walked us through the design and had an explanation for every element of it. The design was well thought out, original, and represented our requests with regards to colours, privacy, views, and winter interest. Something as small as relocating our BBQ, to removing a stone wall and updating it with a clear glass/plexiglass barrier, totally gave it a contemporary look. All of the hardscape (including where electrical, gas and irrigation should be located) took the guess work out for the installers of these services, and the softscape design elements were something my wife and I could not have planned out on our own. At the end LandArt provided us with a blueprint that will transform our property into an elegant serene retreat, where we will create memories, and enjoy it all year round. Bruce and Bev

Right from the start it was a pleasure to work with Richard from LandArt. We had noticed his crew working in town and called them for a project we had in mind. When we purchased our home in the summer of 2018 it was only 15 months old and we were well aware that some changes and improvements to the property were required in due course. By the spring of 2019 we reached out to LandArt. From the first meeting and the initial proposal we were very impressed with LandArt. Having in-house design capabilities proved to be an essential component of LandArt’s business model as we made several changes along the way. The scope of the improvements to the front and side yards included a completely redesigned front entrance stairway with stone and exposed aggregate concrete and a glass balustrade, a new driveway and sidewalk with plain and exposed aggregate concrete, plantings, irrigation, sod and lighting. The scope of the improvements to the back yard included an in ground swimming pool with stone feature walls and a waterfall, a decorative screen wall, an exposed aggregate concrete pool deck, plantings, irrigation and lighting. Throughout the design, permitting and construction phases LandArt was professional, attentive, detail oriented and accommodating. Their tradespeople from the masons to the concrete finishers to the landscapers to the pool contractor to the irrigation contractor to the electrician and to the carpenters was first rate – they were caring and respectful. Performed project over the winter, it was a very convenient time to perform the bulk dirt movement and stonework as the area is seldom used during those months. In general, the Landart team is very professional and perform every task to a very high standard. The work does not come cheap, but when you see the amount of care and effort that is put into the various tasks, it is easy to understand why. Very good friendly group to do business with, already have plans for the future and we will be sure to do business with them again.

We have a challenging landscape around our newly built house on the Niagara Escarpment in Burlington. I contacted and awarded the landscape design drawings to 3 different people and/or firms one after the other. When we didn't have the right result I thought it must been something wrong with my expectations. I had that thought until I met Richard and showed our final plans to him to make some changes. He asked me to let LandArt make a brand new drawing and start again. I decided to give it another try and after all finished we are very pleased with the result. Richard and the team at LandArt were professional and provided high-quality work throughout the whole process. We called them in for a quote based on an extremely positive verbal review from a neighbour, who had work done the summer previous. On the neighbours' job we noticed the trucks and the team arrived every day at the same time on our way to work, and were cleaning up every night on our way home. When we emailed to request a quote for landscape design work, we got a phone call to make arrangements for a visit shortly after, then an email confirmation. Richard arrived on time (a few minutes early) and we did a walkaround. He quoted a design fee and walked us through some other interesting projects they'd worked on. We decided to go ahead with LandArt for the design. The design itself was really great, it incorporated everything we were hoping for and more; we requested a few changes and they were made without reservation; the final design included a detailed quote for building out the design. LandArt is not the cheapest landscape contractor in town; they know this and can explain why. We've done a few renovation projects with outside contractors lately and we were happy to pay a slight premium for a team that a) does real project planning (timing and budget), b) does really great work from a technical and artistic perspective, and c) has a strong work ethic and has a culture that takes good care of their employees and clients. Our yard and driveway now look amazing. We love the choice of materials they proposed and the textures and colours of the natural and manmade stones creates an effect we didn't dream of. We're not done yet (we will be building some decks next summer) and maybe then it would be worth sharing some photos. The design and workmanship that LandArt brought to our home is incredible and will be appreciated for many years to come. (The uploaded picture shows the driveway/patio/retaining wall stone work but isn't reflective of all the great work LandArt did - hopefully we'll get some good pictures next spring/summer).

LandArt took our property from overgrown weedy mess to an absolute retreat. This was a massive project and their level of professionalism from start to finish was exceptional. There were a couple of things that were damaged during the de-construction phase but LandArt pointed them out before we could notice and replaced a section of our eaves trough as well as a board on our deck. Mistakes are bound to occur and are expected but it was their reaction and action that spoke volumes about the ownership this company prides itself on. I have recommended LandArt to family who are going through the design phase right now and will continue to recommend them. People slow down and stop to look at our property as it is so unique and captures everything we wanted. They truly live up to their name: Land Art. The picture attached is just one area in the back of our house that we had completed. A flagstone patio with sunken fire pit and pizza oven with armourstone barrier wall, flagstone steps to the forest, lighting, etc. The entire front was also landscaped and is absolutely beautiful! The crew were simply amazing to work with. They showed attention to detail at every single step of the project. Each day they showed up clean and professionally dressed with smiles on their faces at 7am and some evenings not leaving the property until 6:30pm- still professionally dressed albeit much, much dirtier displaying the hard work they completed that day but with those same smiles on their faces. We used LandArt for a major landscaping project in our backyard. This included a pool installation, sports pad, outdoor kitchen, fence, plants - the whole shabang for a relatively large area. We have dealt with many contractors, since we did a gut-out renovation inside of our home. Even with highly established HGTV contractors, the entire renovation process for inside of our home was extremely stressful and problematic. I was hesitant to start such a huge project again since my assumption was that using a contractor for any job will result in ongoing confrontations and difficulties. So, let me stress as much as possible that LandArt, Richard (owner) and the entire team ABSOLUTELY BLEW ME OUT OF THE WATER. There was absolutely no stress about how they would deal with any of our concerns. Richard, and every single member of his team (as well as anyone working from an outside company) were consistently kind, patient, professional, and simply outstanding. And our project was not without some huge challenges. We designed our entire yard around a huge beautiful maple tree in the middle of the yard, which came crashing down mid construction in the middle of a windstorm. Richard came to our house at 7 am the next day, to assess the situation and came up with a solution within A DAY that I am so happy with. A potentially very difficult situation was handled in such a seamless way, and I say this as someone who was extremely upset about losing this beautiful tree. Our project is at the tail end stage and not everything is complete. We would never dream about posting one of our reviews until a job was complete, but we know everything will be completed to a T with this company. If you need a backyard renovation done, CHOOSE LANDART. We say this as people who have dealt with so many cocky, difficult, and money-hungry contractors, and as people who have lost a lot of sleep as a result. This company will produce gorgeous, high quality results in a respectul, reliable and and kind manner.

This is our 2nd house project with Rich and Land Art - we were very happy with the work both times - and are happy to continue our relationship with them. We hired LandArt to update and bring life back into our backyard and we are so glad that we did. Our backyard space has been completely transformed into the yard of our dreams. When we decided to do our front walkway, steps and garden, we had a specific idea of what we wanted. We saw LandArt on the Houzz site and were immediately drawn to the style and design Rich and his LandArt team had created with other projects. When we met with Rich he was very open, he listened, and, shared his thoughts to help form a plan. When he presented the 3D DVD of what we discussed it was right on! As the project got under way and the transformation took place we saw the dedicated work and care the crew took to create our vision. Each day, through some brutal heat and occasional rain, the work continued with great commitment. The communication we had with the landscapers and Rich along the way, allowed us to change a few things including the walkway stone and even the floating front entrance slab. Our neighbours, some of who we knew and some we had the wonderful pleasure to meet, were all interested in seeing the progress. The project finished before Thanksgiving, as we had requested and it was superb! We were so pleased in it's shape, the plants and shrubbery layout and that the overall look wasn't ostentatious. It blended well with the large trees and slope of the lawn and gave new character to our home. Family and neighbours have complimented the overall look. And, to give it a final glow, all of this was done to our targeted budget. We look forward to another project in the near future with Rich and the LandArt team. We highly recommend them!

We have just started working with LandArt and have been pleasantly surprised! They are very professional with fresh new ideas. They not only show you a picture of what your final landscape project is going to look like but they actually do a 3D video tour of your house with the new landscaping incorporated in it. It's amazing to actually see a video of what you are paying for. The staff is very knowledgeable and amazing to work with.

Our project was a full landscape including the front yard, back yard, side yards, fencing and driveway on a new build. We are very pleased with the job that LandArt completed for us. We recently completed an extensive landscape project with LandArt Landscape Contractors. The work involved the complete re-design of the front and sides of the property including replacing walkways, steps and front entry, as well as new plant beds, plants, sod, an irrigation system and lighting. Materials used included both mortared and free standing flagstone and mossy boulders. Plants include hydrangea, astilbe, grasses, coral bells, hosta and iris. From the initial plans to completion of the project, we found all the members of the team a pleasure to work with. The owner/landscape designer was more than willing to take our requests and seamlessly incorporated the elements we wished to retain with those of the new design. As a project of this size understandably involves a big mess, big equipment and a LOT of dirt, the team initiated the project by sending letters to our neighbours outlining the estimated time and requesting any concerns or questions to be forwarded to them. Although there were no issues, we heard over and over again how much this was appreciated. The team members themselves were so pleasant and accomodating throughout the entire time, and daily would leave the property neat and tidy. The work was completed within budget and the initial estimated time. Now finished, the landscaping is beautiful, and far exceeds our original expectations. It is easy to maintain and has greatly improved the overall impression of the home. We still continue to recieve compliments several months later. We would have no reservations recommending LandArt to anyone contemplating a landscape project of any size.

We actually hired Landart two years in a row. They did two phases of landscape work. The first phase was in 2014. They did such a wonderful job we had them back in 2015 and did more work for us. This company is professional in every aspect of their work. Right from our first meeting to the day they cleaned up and left. Rich Wynia and his staff were incredible. They delivered exactly what we asked for and wanted even more than we expected. The communication each and every day they were on the job was more than expected. Our neighbours all commented on the job they done and more importantly how they always kept the site neat and tidy. We have other projects lined up with Rich and Landart in the future. We trust him with our house and property.

We had a very complicated landscaping challenge in our backyard. Landart helped us with the design and then made it real. For the good part of a year we poured over every little detail of what was to become a very stylish, functional, and private backyard. Rich and his team were extremely patient and understanding. They brought us their vast experience all the while listening to our multitude of questions and worries. Rich and his team are the ultimate professionals. My family and I needed a privacy screen/pergola built in our backyard. We were referred to LandArt. From quote to completion Rich and his team were professional, true craftsmen with attention to design and detail. We met Rich back in November, 2013 after a reference from a friend/neighbour who knew we were looking for a much needed makeover for our backyard. Follow up appointments to finalize all details were always scheduled to accommodate my husband and I as well as constant communication throughout the entire project always made us feel comfortable and involved in the process. We decided to start from scratch and removed our old and worn out deck, fencing and sod. Rich suggested we start the first week and May and to his word, the LandArt team/work crew was extremely punctual (arrived at the same time each day) and worked through some difficult weather conditions to ensure the project was completed in time. We are on a corner lot and the work site was always left organized and tidy. When we ran into a minor issue, Rich and his team came up with another design plan that accommodated our spacing within a few hours. Our backyard was transformed from mundane to exceptional. We now have a beautiful 18x26 stone deck, accent walls, remarkable garden spaces and flagstone stepping stones leading to our cedar shed along with a new fence. We had our entire backyard taken from nothing to a dream oasis. Richard and his positive, respectful crew, worked with us until every detail we envisioned was a reality. They began by setting the grades for the entire project including the work to be done by our pool contractor. After that, they created natural retaining for our very sloped yard, constructed a concrete sports pad, laid flag stone, built a natural stone BBQ, fireplace, water fall, and pool house. Their attention to every detail is exactly what my wife and I were looking for. The crew finished by creating beautiful beds and plantings to suit our vision. Some of the things outside of their landscape skill set that we truly appreciated was their daily clean up, their respectful nature to our children and their constant willingness to listen to our thoughts.
