Dan helped my husband and me renovate the landscaping at our home in the borough of West Chester. Our goals included replacing the original brick patio, installing pathway lighting, and creating a new planting scheme that would both connect the landscaped areas visually and provide habitat and food for pollinators and birds. Dan listened well and offered many ideas and a clear path forward. He is a creative experienced professional, an excellent communicator and kind individual -- a pleasure to work with. When we had the detailed plan we wanted, we decided to have Dan serve as general contractor for the complete renovation of the patio which included hardscape, lighting, fencing with wire support for vines, and storage enclosure under the stairs that leads down from the house. He was on the job to ensure the work was done to his specifications and always handled issues to our complete satisfaction. We could not be more pleased with the outcome and recommend him to others without reservation.

Dan helped my wife and I better understand the possibilities for our 1.5 acre wooded property with tennis court. His vision for what might be possible was tremendous. He was methodical, hard working and fun to interact with. We often think of Dan as we walk through our yard and watch how his plans have developed.

I've hired Dan for multiple projects and would gladly hire him again. Most recently, Dan designed my current residential garden. Covering about 3/4 acre, Dan created a plan that included the lap pool I craved, a casual style of multiple beds that speak to the 18-acre meadow my property is adjacent to, with an eye for four seasons of beauty that clearly demonstrate his expertise as a garden designer. My landscape includes lots of challenges, from drainage, to requests to block very specific views while also highlighting others, and was not especially straightforward. This garden has been through all seasons and I've been astonished at the birds that flock to my wintering grasses and perennials, the succession of flowering species and cutting species since I love fresh flowers indoor too. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Dan again for any future landscaping project, and will continue to recommend him to friends and neighbors who are looking for a thoughtful style in their garden while working with a consummate professional.

Maffei Landscape Design (MLD) created a comprehensive landscape plan for our property. It included all of the features we could possibly have along with stages for development. Once the specific features were selected, MLD created a very detailed design plan and helped select contractors to execute the plans. MLD was very involved in the construction process and readily available for questions and/or inspections. We chose to add many features (not necessarily visible by the pictures) that increased the total cost of the project (heated walkway, material choice, etc.). MLD helped us to better understand our trade-offs and options for each component. MLD was a pleasure to work with, we especially appreciated his candor, professionalism, and enthusiasm with this project. Most importantly, we LOVE our new outdoor space!

We were given a professional landscape design for Christmas from my parents when my husband and I bought out first home. We were beyond thrilled not only because we had no idea what we were doing, but Dan came up with the modern and manageable plan we were looking for.
