Magnolia Landscape and Design Co.

Magnolia Landscape & Design transformed our backyard into an up north retreat that is in the middle of the city. Thomas has a true passion for landscaping and understood our needs right from the start. He was genuinely excited about our project and blew us away with his plan. From start to finish, the team was professional, efficient, and incredibly attentive to detail. Katie gave great design ideas and the plant advice was top notch. Jerrod was our project manager and is a boulder whisperer. Jerrod had excellent communication during the project and turned our sloped backyard into an entertainers dream with a huge fire pit and flat areas for kids to play. They even repurposed the stone from an old failing retaining wall into the cutest front yard patio. Magnolia exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for landscaping services.

Pathetic workmanship & plantings by Magnolia. This co. Is substandard. Stone work was 90% complete when RXXXXO refused to finish to remove the root. My husband had to remove it. We were not told the stone would have only lasted for 2 years or less before it was in upheaval. Not enough base was added initially. Many stones were inlaid too deep. One year after installation of stone and plants we contacted Magnolia to correct the stone and many dead plants. No response. We then contacted their major supplier in Inver Grove Heights to help us. They said they may have to take them off their reference list if they don’t honor their warranty work. RXXXXO was told by KT that he could not correct an improperly positioned arborvitae. She said to him on the phone “Move on to the next job”. I had him tell her that we would not pay the remainder of money owed until the work was done right. No project mgr. or oversight. I received a phone call at the dentist asking me where I wanted the plants to be planted. Roots were exposed on our hydrangea and was dead. KT said the Dwarf Pink Lilac would look more purple in the spring. We were given a purple lilac (not pink) that they replaced the next spring. The owner was supposed to call me back on October 6, 2022 about the 13 stones that are uplifted. He never did. They are inadequate. You can find a much better contractor that isn’t so expensive and is honorable.

Tom, the owner, worked on a project for me at my home in Chanhassen over 10 years ago. He corrected a poor patio and landscape project installed by a competitor. He quickly remedied the project and corrected the poor installation of pavers and materials. I was very pleased with his high quality work and great service. He has great ideas, is a great problem solver! I have enjoyed a beautiful yard for many years as a result. I also own a business with several rental properties in the Metro area. . They require annual design work and maintenance twice a year. I rely on the team at Magnolia to maintain the beds and plantings, and keep the materials fresh and up to date. Curb- appeal is important to my business. The team consistently exceeds my expectations. All the employees are talented, professional and complete their work in a timely manner. I am always pleased with the follow up and level of service I receive from the staff and owner Tom. Pricing is reasonable. I think there is a lot of value in their work. I anticipate using their services for many years. I highly recommend Tom and the team at Magnolia!!

So I had a job that was not classy or sophisticated in the least, but ABSOLUTELY necessary for me to enjoy my yard. Yes, I'm talking about a major drainage issue - my yard was a soggy mess. My original landscaper tried some band-aid ideas that did not work, and would not stand behind their work. Tom spent a lot of time with me to understand the problem, and proposed two solutions - a regrade and a sophisticated drain-tile solution. After some deliberation and consolation with Tom, we choose the drain-tile route (which was the cheaper of the two options). The pricing was on point, and I received competing bids. Tom warned me that they would need to tear up my yard, but that they would put it back together. This is messy, grueling work. The team onsite was amazing. They were professional, clean (until the work started), respectful, and they all seemed to be having a good time, despite being knee dip in mud. The result - for the first time in 5-years, I have a dry backyard that my daughter and the neighborhood kids can play in. I would show pics, but it would just be pics of a normal looking yard, which was objective. There were some areas where they were not able to replace my sod, and they brought in new sod. A section of that sod did not make it. One of the grounds crew supervisors stopped by a couple weeks after the job to see how everything was going. I showed him the dead sod, and two weeks later (today) they showed up with new dirt and sod. It's so hard to pic a contractor when you don't already know someone. You always are concerned whether they will do good work and stand behind it. The people at Magnolia are true pros, and worthy of your trust.

We had Tyler and his posse remodel our back yard from a playground for 5 boys to a great spot for parties, fire pit gatherings and gardens. I’m a big fan of rocks and Tyler had steps made from slices of granite boulders. A great place for morning tea. We even had them back to line the driveway with boulders and remodel the front yard the next year. Can’t say enough good things about working with them. Stayed within our budget too!

Tom, Alan and his crew did a great job. They did the job quickly, communicated well and really wanted to make sure we were happy. We're planning on using them for another project in the Spring.

Thomas, Jerrod and their landscaping crew did an amazing job that surpassed our expectations. Everything from the design and plant selection to the plant and boulder placement was beyond perfect. They were professional and efficient. We will definitely use Magnolia again for future projects!

Tom was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. The project was started and finished as promised. The design was wonderful and it looks fantastic. Cleanup was good. Tom delivered what was promised.............and more. We would highly recommend his services.

This project exceed my expectations, by Magnolia standards I expect this was a small project, however I was treated as though it was their only important job. It was a combination water mitigation/make this look better project. The bid process was quick, my following phone questions were immediately answered, the project itself was done quickly and beautifully. Tom later came back to look over the finished project.. I will call them first for any future projects.

We have worked with Magnolia Landscape & Design Company on multiple projects (hardscape including a pizza oven, patios, dry bed rock work,) at 2 different homes over the last 10 years! We have had excellent experiences and would highly recommend them for their design & implementation in particular! On site crews have always been professional and respectful of our home/children/dogs! We have recommended them to many people over the last decade and would continue to do so.

We met Tyler from Magnolia at a home show this spring. He took the time to get to know us and our vision for the landscaping around the house. His plans and ideas for both the hardscape and plant materials were perfect. During the design process there were never any high pressure sales tactics, which made the experience very pleasant. The team was very clear in communication throughout the process as well. The crew who came out to do our project was excellent. They answered all our questions. They also worked extremely hard and were very detailed. Our installation included an intricate paver patio and the crew really took the time to get it just right. In the end we could not be happier with the overall project and the service we received. I'd hire and recommend Magnolia again for sure..

Tyler at Magnolia landscaping was very professional to work with on project design. He had the upmost patience with us in explaining designs & as our project continued to evolve throughout. The landscaping team was professional, gave input & explained processes, plans & gave options. The were kind to my children, cleaned up after themselves & were patient as our project STILL continued to change. We were very happy with the Magnolia team & would be happy to recommend them.
