The Town of Ashburnham Recreation Committee retained Minglewood to assist with the creation of a new downtown multigenerational play and gathering park. From conceptual design to landscape/build coordination to project completion, Angela was an integral and invaluable team member. She introduced unique design elements not typically seen in rural municipal parks with the goal of increasing program collaboration and social interaction between all ages. Thank you!

I’ve never written a negative review before, but I felt compelled to do so after working with this contractor. Two years ago, Angela installed a bluestone patio, deck, and garden at our home in Sudbury. After just two winters, the bluestone patio is already crumbling—half the stones are deteriorating to the point where the surface is unusable. We never used salt or a metal shovel on it. We reached out to Angela, and her response was, “I’ve never seen that before. Unfortunately, there is no warranty on the stone, so the best I can do is suggest you buy more stone.” That’s it. No responsibility, no solution—just a ruined patio after less than two years, despite a significant investment. There were other serious issues during the project. While preparing the site, her crew tore up our sprinkler system. They then planted the garden over it and insisted the sprinklers were in a different area. When we turned on the system, nothing worked. We brought in a sprinkler company, who confirmed the lines had been destroyed. They had to dig up the new garden to cap the damaged system, which cost a fortune. We also had to replant the garden ourselves, and many of the original plants didn’t survive due to the disruption. When we asked Angela about it, she blamed the sprinkler company and said they weren’t “thoughtful people.” Unfortunately, I cannot recommend working with this contractor. I strongly suggest finding someone more professional and accountable.

Hi Lindsay and Marco,
I’m truly sorry to hear that you are disappointed with your patio two years after the installation. From our close collaboration throughout the months of design, permitting, and installation, you know that I care deeply about both the quality of my work and the satisfaction of my clients. Seeing your concerns shared publicly, rather than through a personal message, is especially disheartening given the communication we’ve maintained over time.

I want to clarify that I believe my initial responses were misquoted. The bluestone used for your patio is a natural material sourced from a trusted supplier. Occasionally, the surface of individual stones may “flake” due to how the stone naturally forms in the earth—this is an inherent characteristic of natural-cleft bluestone, which we discussed during the selection and purchase process. These minor layer separations are not related to installation or site conditions and your patio continues to function as intended (I have photos available for reference). At the time of purchase, I explained that natural stone does not carry a manufacturer warranty.

When you first reached out about the issue, we reviewed the available options. I offered to inspect the affected stones and assist with their replacement at a fair cost, noting that any new stones might differ in color because they come from a different quarry extraction. I did not hear back from you. As of October 2025, your patio continues to look and perform like a New England, natural-stone surface - leaf-covered and all!

This was a complex project, situated within a Wetland Buffer Zone, above and near the septic system, and involving house modifications and a deck landing on the patio. I took extra care to ensure everything met the highest standards, complied with Town requirements, and would be long-lasting. Both Minglewood, LLC and the independent contractors provided materials at cost and volunteered additional labor to deliver a lasting result within your budget. While the sprinkler system was outside the scope of our work, we followed standard protocols to protect unseen items in the project area. Obviously, no one wants sprinkler heads in or under their patio!

I truly regret that the project did not fully meet your expectations. My goal has always been to create spaces that are both beautiful and enduring, and I sincerely wish you all the best as you continue to enjoy your home and garden. Warm regards, Angela Kearney, Owner

Landscape design and development is a priority focus in the permitting process. Minglewood’s landscape designs are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also site sensitive. Angela Kearney works closely and collaborates with all members of the development team as the landscape design must incorporate screening and minimize the effects of grading, water runoff and wetland requirements. A proper landscape design addressing site issues is essential for the permitting process. Angela was phenomenal to work with on our new patio in Sudbury. She is extremely knowledgeable about conservation rules/regulations and helped to guide us through every step of a complicated process involving a septic tank and wetlands. She understood our vision and worked with us for over a year to make it happen! The process was so smooth for us given that we trusted her completely and she was an excellent communicator. We are so grateful!

We have just finished an extensive backyard renovation with Minglewood. Angela and her team helped us transform an overgrown and underutilized foundation bed into a prime, outdoor dining and living terrace. She helped us reuse existing materials to blend old and new spaces and she worked seamlessly with our installer, particularly when questions arose about complicated design details. She was respectful of our budget and cost conscious, careful to consult us and suggest alternative solutions when components came back higher than expected. She is a great communicator and answers emails and texts promptly. I enjoyed collaborating immensely and appreciated that she was eager to include me in plant selection, planning a trip to the nursery together. She respected our vision and goals and kept them at the center of her design. The resulting plant beds and stonework blend perfectly amongst the existing plantings and pre existing patio. Angela exceeded our expectations tenfold and we are beyond thrilled with the result. We look forward to working with Minglewood, LLC on our next project!
