Moody Graham was such a pleasure to work with on our small residential front patio in DC. They really took time to listen to our many constraints, a small lot with tricky sun exposure, and suggested a landscape that was manageable and beautiful. Though our scope of work with very small, they treated us with the same respect they would give to a large institutional client. I can't recommend them enough whether you are an owner, architect or homeowner.

I have hired Moody Graham for two different projects over the last several years in NW DC and found them to be thoughtful, knowledgeable, and highly professional in their approach to our landscape design and the permitting process. I highly recommend them.

We hired Ryan Moody to provide a full design for our yard. The project included a bluestone terrace, regrading our backyard including a stacked stone retaining wall, a full planting plan for the entire property, drainage mitigation, a redesigned front walkway, a natural stone staircase (its a walkout basement), playspace for the kids, landscape lighting and irrigation. We were presented with three alternative designs that were mindful of our budget. He then assisted us in contractor selection to implement. The designs themselves were very cohesive and added balance and flow to the practical goals we were looking to achieve. When we switched to the technical drawings the product we received was comprehensive. There were multiple drawings to cover all of the details. While the project was underway he communicated well over e-mail and phone calls (we are located out of his service area so telecommunications were more practical after his initial visit) and helped us keep our contractor focused. He and his team came to our property and completed all of the planting. In addition, he has been responsive with suggestions and advice to our follow up questions as we have completed other projects in the yard. We couldn't be happier with his services.

Ryan Moody transformed our small and neglected yard into a beautiful outdoor living space. He was a pleasure to work with: patient, creative, professional. We have already gotten more use and pleasure from this new space than the 20 years previous when the yard basically served as a big playground for our dog. The project went through several revisions to get the cost down and Ryan was so helpful with suggesting where we could save without compromising the end result. All deadlines were met. Ryan Moody was a delight to work with throughout the process of transforming my back yard from a field of weeds and concrete to a gorgeous, dog-friendly garden with bluestone patio and brick paths. When we initially talked, I gave Ryan a practical and aesthetic wish-list, which he helped me tailor to the reality of the site and my budget. The final design truly accomplished everything I had hoped for, from solving drainage problems to improving accessibility to providing a lush and colorful outdoor space as an extension of my house. We worked through three iterations of the design, and Ryan was patient, quick, and clear in his communications at all stages. Ryan coordinated construction and planting with the landscape contractors, Redux Garden and Home, tweaking the design as needed, and also helped sequence the landscape work with other exterior improvements. The whole project came in on budget and a little ahead of schedule, and it is gorgeous! What more could one ask? I recommend Moody Landscape Architecture without hesitation.

Moody Landscape Architecture helped with a full renovation of our back yard following a large interior renovation. They were very mindful of our budget, yet provided several alternative concepts based on extensive research into what we like, eg by using pictures from Houzz. It helped us choose an original solution for large BBQs in our small back yard, including a built-in spacious grill and beautiful plants that work in that limited space. Ryan and Kate were very hands on during the entire project, which included supervising other contractors (for bricks, electricity etc). We are very happy with the end product and love spending time in our back yard. We highly recommend Moody Landscape Architecture. In additional to the high quality professional job, they were very pleasant and easy to work with and have been nice enough to check on our plants on a yearly basis, by their own initiative. It shows that they care about their work even after a project is completed.

They cleaned my back yard out it was full of running bamboo and trees, they where able to remove the bamboo and it hasn't grown back I just called them back to get the rest of the bamboo left next door that grew. I highly recommend them.

My husband and I are architects that own a small architecture firm. We have collaborated on several projects with Moody Landscape Architecture, and we hired them for our own project. They are always a pleasure to work with, and their work is excellent. We look forward to continuing our relationship with them in the future. On our own project they really helped us flesh out our ideas, while introducing other ideas that we had not envisioned. From concepts to planting they helped transform our underutilized yard into a series of beautifully landscaped outdoor spaces.

We worked with Ryan and his team to re-design our very compact Capitol Hill backyard. I can't recommend them highly enough. Ryan is very easy to work with, and was always very responsive. He is a good listener, and his design reflected our priorities for the space. He was very creative in helping us to figure out how to maximize our outdoor space and integrate our backyard into our "living" space. Once we had settled on a design (a bluestone patio, with a small ipe deck leading from our back door down to the patio, with new fence and gate), he helped us identify a contractor and obtain permits. I appreciated Ryan's willingness to work with our budget, and to help us break the project into phases. Ours was the third project Moody Landscape Architecture has done on our block, and I was as happy as my neighbors were with their work.

I've recommended Ryan to three residential clients and one commercial client, all of whom hired them and were very satisfied in every way with the results. The design work is great and very well communicated, the advise is very practical, and the follow through and installation supervision top notch. I will continue to recommend Moody with confidence.

Ryan and his team helped turn our backyard/urban hellscape into a fantastic and budget-friendly cottage garden. From the moment I first reached out to him on the phone to the moment the last plant was thoughtfully planted, Ryan proved to be one of the most patient and conscientious people I've had the opportunity to work with in DC. We were one of those annoying couples who think they know what they want from the outset and then go veering down the proverbial path of indecision and second-guessing. All the while, however, Ryan and his colleagues remained patient and respectful as they guided us through the project.
