Native By Design Landscapes

Jennifer Johnson (Native by Design—310-855-4244) is a terrific landscape designer, especially for native plants. I highly recommend her! Over the last 6 years, my husband and I have used her for multiple issues and projects for our very large yard. She is very knowledgeable about native plantings for which she designed and supervised our conversion to native plants which now require minimal watering. This was especially helpful for our extensive steep hillside. The hill is now covered with blooming native plants which are preventing erosion and also providing pollinators for the bees. A second pollinator garden attracts several varieties of butterflies including monarchs. It is a beautiful site to see! Jenny advises us on multiple gardening concerns, including investigating the water usage for each planting area and preparing a watering budget based upon the plant’s needs and the irrigation method. She is very responsible, pleasant and delivers what she recommends. She also has the respect of the landscape contractors or gardeners which she supervises and directs. Jenny is my go-to for gardening. We have worked on several designs together and I trust her experience and professionalism. We just finished our third garden together and the last two were native. Both the natives and dry gardens are eco-conscious, lush and vibrant. She took care of the entire establishment process from the design to the build and it was clear that she liked being part of the evolution of each garden. It's very fun and easy to work with her and I learned a lot about native plants and regenerative practices through her knowledge and experience.

I recently worked with Jennifer Johnson from Native by Design on how to add more native plants in my yard so as to use less water and begin creating a more biodiverse, eco-conscious garden. Jennifer has taken great care in explaining the importance of proper irrigation, sun and soil conditions as well as options for hardscaping. Her plant selection and designs are impeccable.
