I found Sara at Pachamama Inspired on Houzz because her philosophy on native plants and the preservation of our local ecology resonated with me. So happy to have worked with her! She transformed our sad backyard with a sun-bleached lawn and unkept, weedy hillside into a stunning pollinator oasis that is filled with hyper-local native plants. Our plants will hopefully support the endangered Palos Verdes blue butterflies that inhabit our neighborhood. More important, the backyard is a restorative space that provides my 91 year old mother with so much joy -- watching the birds, hummingbirds, dragonflies, and butterflies roaming around the backyard. We also know that our Pachamama Inspired backyard has increased the value of our home exponentially. I'm pleased that our yard is not only personally satisfying, but also a way to support the local ecology. Sara was so easy to work with. She understood what we wanted and offered interesting solutions to our yard and was mindful of our budget. A bonus to working with Sara is her culinary background: she offered recipe/cooking tips on how to use the fruits, vegetables, and edible plants! The landscaping crew she recommended is top notch; they were incredibly attentive and conscientious about the plantings and irrigation systems.

I’m in the process of killing my lawn and transitioning to a native landscape, and Sara’s expertise and advice helped me launch into the project. I am blown away daily at the beauty of our garden, watching it bloom at different times and admiring the colors. We receive constant compliments from people walking by our house, the neighborhood enjoys it as well! Look no further, if you are in the South Bay area you cannot find a better landscape designer than Sara. Trust me, I tried to hire them all and no one had a vision or understood our aesthetic better. We wanted a drought-tolerant garden with a mid-century modern design using a specific color palette. Plus, we have an incredibly steep hill that is hard to work with and means drainage is especially important. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted until Sara had a ton of better ideas, taking such care with the plant selection and overall design, she is an artist. Her knowledge of plants is incredible, she looks at every small detail and puts her heart and soul into a project. As the plants are growing, I admire her selection of plants for their height in correlation to each other and the different times they bloom over the year. Three days after our landscaping was completed, we had a location scout interested in using our house, the only change was our garden!

Sara is so incredibly knowledgeable! She is creative and also very client centered. She has a great eye, she really drew her inspiration from our goals and needs for our yard. She was very gifted at interpreting my individual style and pinpointing plants that I would absolutely love. My favorite part of working with Sara was her extensive knowledge of creating a drought tolerant sanctuary that would also benefit our local environment and wildlife. We have only done a portion of our yard so far and are looking forward to continue but by bit. It really was surprising that such a small project/small portion of our yard could really make such a big improvement and make our outdoor space that much more enjoyable. She is great and made us feel our small project was very important to her.

Our landscape was overgrown and definitely not earth friendly. We wanted a landscape that would be easy to manage and attract wildlife (birds, butterflies and bees). We were also frustrated with our watering system, wasting a great deal of water needlessly. After discussing our needs with Sara she designed a perfect native plant landscape and found an excellent crew to execute her plan. Sara and her team from Sandoval Landscaping were incredibly professional, friendly and it was clearly evident that they all love what they do. So much care was given to each plant that was put in the ground and to the existing trees and shrubs that were relocated on our property.. , The Sandoval crew showed incredible expertise and artistry in cutting and fitting the large flagstone pieces in the patio. This crew was exceptionally knowledgable, well trained and paid attention to the smallest details. We are delighted at how well the new irrigation system efficiently waters the plants and not anything more! We get such joy watching as our garden continues to blossom in vibrant colors. And, we watch in awe as the hummingbirds, bees, butterflies and finches visit each afternoon to sip the water from our stone fountain and sip the nectar of the new flowers. We hired Pachamama Inspired Designs as a consultant to help us set up and design our edible food forest garden in our yard. Sara is creative, responsive, super knowledgeable about plants, plant care and maintenance. She is helping us implement the practical principles of permaculture while helping us create a beautiful garden. We were looking for someone local who could provide us with help along the way as we set up the food forest and she's been exactly that plus has a great eye for design and asthetics. We hope to continue working with her through the years!

I'm really happy with my new drought-tolerant and pollinator-friendly front yard. Sara Saxonberg from Pachamama Inspired Design worked closely with me to bring to completion the vision I had of a yard that is "lush but sustainable." She respected the colors I wanted to use both in the selection of plants and the selection of stones for the bioswale and the flagstones placed in soil next to the parking curb. I've had so many compliments from neighbors! Sara made the whole process easy for me. She found a crew that ripped out my old lawn and sprinkler system and installed a very efficient, low-water drip system. I was really worried that taking on a project of this size would be overwhelming for me but it went off without any real problems or issues. Sara and I worked very well together. I had a broad idea that I was trying to conceptualize, and she was able to make it come to life. I learned a lot in the process, I thought I was an experienced gardener, and found out there is so much more to learn! Sara is calm, smart and knowledgeable in her craft. Sara is great! We are a senior couple who decided during the pandemic that we wanted to replace the lawn in our small back yard with raised planters to start a vegetable garden. After one visit to view our yard, she presented us with the most organized plans of her recommendations, which included detailed lists and photos of plants to help draw birds, bees and butterflies and aid in controlling soil and plant diseases for our vegetables. She gave us numerous options for plants as well as ground cover and also recommended taller than normal height for our planters so that us seniors don’t have to bend over very far to tend to our veggies. She provided us with plans for where we should plant our vegetables to maximize yield, help defend against pests and at the same time have a beautiful garden. Sara is very professional, organized, insightful and definitely knows everything there is to know about plants and landscaping, and she does all this in such a warm and thoughtful manner. And yes, as the veggies and fruit grow, beautiful birds, butterflies and bees are also enjoying the new garden.

We are blessed to have connected with her as she came highly recommended by a well-known (recently retired) local landscape designer. Sara took our backyard from an old concrete jungle to a beautiful waterwise botanic garden. I want to share a landscape designer who knows how to help individuals develop their personal landscape. Spending months removing bamboo from my yard, I knew I wanted something easy, drought tolerant, non-invasive, native flowers, and plants that emitted scents of the earth, sage, lavender, butterfly bushes. Sara was incredible, she seemed to know exactly what I was looking for and led me in the direction I had in mind. She spent time sending me images, information, and worked with me in the design of my landscape. She was available, flexible, and full of ideas. I would consider myself challenging as I am an artist and often work outside the norm. Sara was full of ideas and together we worked to explore different concepts. I have had many comments on the landscape, even a compliment that it reminded someone of "The Getty". I've been watching it grow I find myself smiling as I look out the window, when I walk down the steps the scents are heavenly. Thanks to Sara!

I enlisted the services of Sara Saxonberg, a landscape design and garden consultant, to begin a project that encompassed a front and backyard hardscape and landscape redesign. My vision was one that included native plants, sustainability with low water needs and maintenance and open living areas. The two references I contacted spoke glowingly of her work ethic and expertise and I was able to visit one of her projects and confirmed her artistry. The completed project is unique in celebrating different plants such as succulents, native plants and grasses as well as fruit trees. I now see birds, hummingbirds, butterflies and bees populate my once barren backyard. I was also able to reuse the brick in my back patio to create a unique driveway and path to the front door. It was very easy to work with Sara who is knowledgeable about plants and is also detail oriented. She was also open to suggestions for changes. The project started during the pandemic and it was a joy to see it develop.

We were so overwhelmed with our new, blank, backyard, and boy, Sara was a godsend! She helped us develop and plan, and provided ongoing consultation and support. With her help, we now love our outdoor space!
