I've had the pleasure of working with Dave at Revolutionary Gardens for the past month on a patio and landscape design, and the experience has been nothing short of exceptional. Dave's expertise and creativity have shone through at every step. When we bought our house we fell in love with the wooded lot and large pond in the back but the landscaping was overgrown and didn't work well with the house, I was stumped on where to begin! I found Revolutionary Gardens here on houzz and we hired him to create a master plan for our front and back yard. He thoughtfully listened to our needs and considered the use of the space in creating a wonderful plan. He worked well with what we already had and made better sense of the space. I love how he grouped the projects into smaller phases so we could keep our budget in check. We have completed a few of the phases and are looking forward to completing the rest of them. We started with the front of the house and I can honestly say it looks like it should have always looked like this. Meaning that the design is so lovely and works so well with the space that it is hard to imagine it any other way! I think that is what good design is all about. He also added lighting and it just looks amazing. Communication was great with Dave and his crew worked hard, cleaned up each day, and did quality work. I highly recommend!

We chose Revolutionary Gardens for our front landscaping project. We had no idea what to do, but we moved in a few years ago and the previous owners' landscaping did not appeal to us. Dave presented us with a plan and we talked over a few things that we wanted (low maintenance) and we got to work. It took about a week, but we were left with a yard that looked professional and grown up, with much more light coming into the house since removed some pesky cedar trees. I want to have him back next year for a side yard/forest project.

Revolutionary Gardens did an outstanding job designing & installing an extensive "make-over" of our existing landscape...creative and sophisticated and extremely professional in every phase. We were thrilled with the final product and felt it significantly enhanced our home.

I've known David for about 7 years and have worked with him on several projects where he was the designer. As a 3D visualizer, I am virtually building the space and rely heavily on how precise and thought out a 2D design is in order to translate that data. The plans I've worked on which were drawn by David were highly meticulous and organized, while still being progressively creative. On a personal level, he is very easy going and has a personality that puts people at ease. I'd highly recommend him for anyone looking for a landscape design with solid fundamentals, yet also full of charm and personality.

Dave listened to us about our desire for a new outdoor space, including a patio and waterwall in a fairly restricted area. We went through a couple of iterations of plans and, boy, did he have some great ideas! He oversaw all the work and went to great lengths to make sure the job was done right and to our complete satisfaction. The workers were all professional, courteous, and cleaned up each day. His choice of plantings was great and now this is our favorite area to hang out. He is easy to work with and a real professional.

David did a great job planning our backyard and patio. He listened as we explained our non-traditional tastes and made some recommendations to 'value-engineer' us back to reality, when necessary. The result: his design was thoughtful and quirky - exactly what we had wanted. We felt we had some difficulties keeping on top of the construction folks executing David's vision, but David was always there to help us get back on track when we needed him. After interviewing three firms, I selected Revolutionary Gardens to develop a master plan and landscape my yard, which is quite large and rural. My request was for a landscaper to transform my property from a moderately-new large home stuck in the middle of uncultivated acreage into a welcoming home surrounded by mature plantings that would soften the rural-ness and brought in some gentility, attract songbirds, and make order out of the chaos. Plus, it needed to fit within my limited budget. David developed a plan that could be accomplished in stages over time, and provided beautifully detailed color renderings, photos of plantings, and itemized pricing. He also addressed environmental issues such as water drainage, pests and maintenance. I absolutely loved the solutions outlined in the master plan; his solution for visually connecting the pool area to the house through plantings and hardscape is wonderful--I can't wait for that stage to begin!! At present, the entire front yard has been completed, consisting of: a circular gravel driveway; a curving bluestone front sidewalk; a long curved fieldstone retaining wall topped with about 30 flowering perennials, and lots of tulips, irises and lilies at its base; a river rock garden with lirope; installation of some mature flowering trees along the front porch and sidewalk; and several evergreen bushes along the foundation. The inclusion of several clusters of my mother's favorite flower (peony) into the planting mix is very special. The crew maintained a clean worksite, stayed within budget and completed the work on schedule. Everyone was polite, and even working in sweltering temperatures, kept their temper. I was very impressed with the stone masonry. Before I saw David's plans, I couldn't envision that the yard could hold so much without looking crowded. But in reality, now the yard looks even grander! Nothing is crowded, everything has room to grow, and I see how the property can capture the aesthetic of a country gentleman's estate in time. Realizing my hope for a formal rose garden is still in the future, but the plans are laid!

Dave designed a complete renovation of our existing hardscapes and plantings. We were renovating the entire house, so we literally tore everything out on the outside as well. This included relocating the entrances, constructing new stone steps and walls and enlarging and rebuilding a Koi pond. The design was wonderful, but the final product is even better than we hoped! People stop in front of the house and gawk; some even take pictures; and that's just the front! The back yard is even better. Not only did Dave work (patiently) with us to create a design that met our needs, he also provided a list of contractors for us that were very capable and covered a range of prices. Then he oversaw the work to make sure that it met his high standards. We are so happy with the job. I have worked with landscape projects and designers before, but Dave is the best. We would give him our highest recommendation.

Dave has helped us immensely! We have a blank canvas to work with - aside from the landscape done by the builder! We wanted a plan that we could phase in with our budget and Dave gave us just that! He listed to how we use our property and our concerns for maintence and came up with a full plan! Plantings and materials were discussed in depth in terms of maintenance and budget! Dave added additional options that we didn't think of but that pit perfectly into our wooded landscape! We are looking forward to beginning work!
