Root Design & Landscape

We live on Capitol Hill and for years have been struggling with what to do with the parking strip outside our condo. Our neighbor hired Root Design & Landscape to completely modify his small back yard into a wonderful patio. So we hired Diego to do our parking strip with pavers that complimented the sidewalk but added some great texture. Diego's team was professional at all times, cleaned up after every day, and was very collaborative to work with. We highly recommend Diego's team for their quality, timeliness, and attention to detail.

Root Design was recommended to my by my arborist. I wanted to update the landscaping around my house, but I'm an engineer and know nothing about plants. I talked to Steve and he asked some general questions about what I might like. As we walked around the house, Steve formed some ideas that met my criteria. I gave him a rough budget. On this basis, I hired him to do the work. It was done promptly and within budget. It's now done and I am completely satisfied.

When we first called Root Design and Landscape about a patio and walkway, we had little idea of the quality of expertise and work we were about to experience. From our first meeting to the last follow-up, Steve was ever the consummate professional! He listened, advised, and presented us with a design and materials that not only worked with our backyard space but also fit within our budget! His workers were polite, diligent, timely and thorough in every detail. Our cozy patio continues to provide us with a relaxing environment for morning coffee and evening sunsets. We are fortunate to have found him and we highly recommend his company.

We contacted Steve Atkins after seeing some of his on-going projects in Coupeville, Washington. He was quick to offer great suggestions for taming our under-utilized landscape with curved lines and metal edging. Root Design and Landscape installed a wonderful cedar deck, planters with drip irrigation, and sand set paver walk ways on the sides of the house. They were very professional and came in on time and on budget with each stage of the project. I highly recommend Steve and his team.

Root Design and Steve Atkins were given a challenging first task. A new shade garden in clay soil on a steep bank. Luckily Steve is as agile as he is knowledgeable about plants. The shade garden is thriving and we have employed him on numerous other ocassions to select and plant in our garden. Steve is a joy to have in the garden and obviously loves what he does. Never a complaint, great communications skills too. Yikes this sounds way to gushy but it is all true.

Labor intensive job. Workers were hard working and knowledgeable; they knew what they were doing. The finished work was well done. Excellent clean-up at end. Would recommend.

What a pleasure to work with Steve on our project! Thoughtful design, great collaboration, creative with an emphasis on functionality that would work best for us. Steve did a great job on our yard design plan and install. He came up with creative solutions to get the look we wanted while we were able to stay within our budget. Steve and the installers were very professional and courteous. Steve answered our questions and was always willing to talk to us when we had any concerns. Steve Atkins of Root Landscaping did a nice job of designing a new courtyard garden. He presented different options for the design and the two of us came up with what I felt was a good plan incorporating his ideas.

I met Steve Adkins through a neighbor who had hired Steve and his company to de-weed our entire community of 6 houses and a club house. They did such a good job that I reached out to Steve to do some specific work in my own yard. The solutions he provided were great because he created a low maintenance yard with pathways in appropriate areas and a few native plants in front and back to fill in blank spaces. He also revamped my watering system which resulted in the grass actually being green for the first time since I bought my place! Steve was responsive to my budget concerns and and he made an effort to communicate with me until we found solutions we agreed upon. As part of our contract, he will do a follow up several months down the road to ensure everything is progressing as planned. The end result is that my yard has never looked better!
