Roushall Gardens

We were very pleased with the design services of Tina Roushall/ Roushall Gardens. We would highly recommend her. We wanted to replace an existing lawn in our front yard with a new landscape design. Tina met with us for an initial discussion (at no cost) to review the scope of the project. She sent us photos and addresses of previous jobs she had completed. Once we confirmed with her, she submitted a contract. After we signed the contract, she returned to take measurements and photos, and then drew a plan of the existing yard. She sent us a list of water saving plants that would meet the standards of our local water service rebate plan, and asked us to choose our favorites. She also asked us to take photos of any plants or gardens we liked in the neighborhood. She proposed 3 different initial designs, and we indicated our preference for the overall look. Then she added details of features like walkways, rocks, mounds, etc. After our approval, she added a very detailed planting plan. She was fine with retaining some of our exiting plants and trees. She prepared a plan to submit to the water district for the rebate, and a plan for water . Once our plans were complete, she recommended two landscape companies that worked in our area, and helped us choose between them. She met with us at a local rockery to help us choose the rocks we wanted installed in our new landscape. She helped us choose the lighting that would enhance our design. She was very helpful in working with the landscape company to order the plants, and was on site to assist in the installation of the landscape features (mounds, rocks, walkways) and plants. We were very pleased with her design services. She was very easy to work with, and very professional. The cost of her services was very reasonable. The landscape plan and plant descriptions she create ()at no extra cost) that we submitted to the water district resulted in the maximum refund allowable. We have received many compliments on our new front yard landscape, and we are very pleased with its appearance. We highly recommend the design services of Tina Roushall/ Roushall Gardens.

Tina was our landscaping remodel designer which finished on last October, I love her professional attitude and knowledge about plants and design. During my interaction via Zoom, in person, and text with her in the last several months, she showed her dedication and passion to her work which I admire and grateful to work with. Tina did an outstanding job designing our yard. Our yard is completely transformed into a beautiful and functional space for our family. She is a great listener and made thoughtful suggestions for ways in which we could use the space that we would never have come up with on our own. Tina connected us to our landscape contactor that did the work and they did a fantastic job. 10 years and 4 designers later I found Tina Roushall. And I struck gold when I found her. My project felt overwhelming and complicated but I had an idea of what I wanted it to look like and she was able to make my idea a reality. She listened to me and made sure I got everything I needed. It was a big project, nothing had been done to the yard since the early 1980's. I had flooding problems in the front courtyard area due to settling of too much concrete and poor drainage. A side yard with a decaying redwood patio, crumbling concrete and a cinder block border. The backyard had a cracked aggregate concrete patio, decaying redwood deck and planters at the waterfront and another cinder block planter also boarding the waterfront. The plantings were old ugly and struggling. The watering system was broken. In a word my yard was a hot mess. She came up with a brillant design and fixed all my problems and worked hard to keep it within my budget. Another plus was the details of her design were so good that there was little need for me to fret over the details and everything was handled by text between me, her and the contractor. Also I did not have to miss any work to be home to have meetings with the contractor because she laid out a very professional detailed plan that was easily followed by the contractor. Another bous was She also did the research and brought in several contractors who bid on the project which was helpful because I did not have that much time to do that. The finished project exceeded my wildest dreams and it was done during the winter months so the plants are small right now but I do not care because they will grow. My only regret is that I don't have another yard for her to work on because I won't get to work with her again unless I buy another house and move. I highly recommend Tina, you will enjoy the experience.

Tina have style and good design experience that fits our needs. She listens carefully and then offer her professional opinions. The results is a functional and beautiful front yard that my family loves. She is very customer focused and we're working with her to design our backyard.

I highly recommend Tina Roushall as a landscape designer. She has helped me transform my dried out, weedy front yard into a lovely, visually interesting, drought-tolerant substitute for a boring, water-consuming lawn (if I watered it, which I have not been doing, due to the drought!). Tina patiently spent many sessions with me to learn what I like. We talked about choosing perennials with a pleasing color palette and varied textures. I also expressed an interest in having plants which would attract pollinators, butterflies, and hummingbirds. She lent me books to browse through and suggested websites to view. She also helped me choose a reliable contractor to do all the work, which began with a process called sheet mulching. The plants are all in now, and I'm looking forward to watching everything grow, bloom, and change through the seasons. Tina is a kind, gentle person, a good listener, very easy to work with. And she's not just leaving me hanging. She's been in touch regularly since the garden was installed, to answer questions about plant care, check on the progress of the plants. She's very accessible. She has worked within my budget, and been very professional in every way. The plants are small now, but when they've grown and spread out a bit, I can add a photo. Tina worked with us to come up with a low-maintenance, drought-tolerant plant design as well as a low retaining wall and a water feature for our yard. It also attracts birds and bees. It is so nice that we often sit on our porch and watch the birds at the fountain and hear the trickling of the water. The blooming native CA plants are beautiful in the spring and summer and they held up well in the winter too.

Tina Roushall is a top notch landscap designer. She is pleasant, intelligent, creative and responsive. Tina listens to her client's requests, researches plants, materials and ideas, and presents them for client's review in conceptual design options with good cost estimations. For every aspect of the job, Tina has several resources she can recommend for clients to interview. While your project is underway, Tina stays in contact with the client and the contractors, physically checking in. When we felt an installed item didn't represent our idea of what something should look like, Tina was on the phone with the installer and on the job site within the hour, assisting in evaluation and change to our liking. When I came up with a new hard scape idea to add to our project mid install, Tina was on the phone with the contractor arranging solutions to my request. Tina is what one would hope for in a perfect landscape designer relationship. We have recommended her to several of our friends who are using her services as well.
