Sallie Hill Design, Landscape Architect

I recently worked with Sallie on the landscape design for my property which included some challenges like heavy deer pressure, lots of shade and woodland setting. We installed patios and walkways, and several perennial beds. I love the design and mix of naturalistic with more formal setting. I love to garden and she still introduced me to new plants and trees. She was great to brainstorm ideas with and responded to what I was envisioning for our outdoor space. I can't wait for it all to grow in!

We have worked with Sallie over a couple of years - she completely redid our landscaping and worked as general contractor for our plantings, hardscape and driveway. She worked seamlessly with our contractor who was doing a whole-house renovation concurrently. The finished product is a sanctuary- like yard that perfectly complements the house and the setting. She continues to check on our plants and makes adjustments as needed. We feel lucky to have found her and been able to work with her.

We had great experience with Sallie Hill. We live on a challenging property located on a hill. It was a very big job so we decided to use Sallie as the designer and project manager. Sallie used her experience to select both weather and deer resistant plants. The hardscaping and materials that Sallie chose look beautiful. Nothing was too much for Sallie. Half way through our job we decided to add a pool to the project. Sallie took this on the chin, and although a massive change to our original plan, she handled it like a professional. We know it was a big challenge but Sallie never let her frustrations show and kept the job on course and her customers (my family) at ease. We would definitely use Sallie again. We absolutely loved working with Salle on the design and execution of our landscape project. The project, which included a redesign of the front and back yards, a new plunge pool and fire pit area, stone walls, and a stone driveway, looks amazing. She guided us through the entire project, stayed on top of every detail, and was always looking for ways to control costs without compromising quality. And it was incredibly nice working with her. Highly recommended.

Sallie was recommended to us from our architect. Our home had been renovated inside before the pandemic but the outside of the home did not match the interior design of the house. I found Sallie to have sophisticated taste and a great design sense. She redid our deck, re-landscaped the front and sides of the house, installed new granite walkways in the front and side, added all new plants and installed an irrigation system and brought in the best people to do the work that she trusted. It was much more expensive than I had imagined but you get what you pay for and she helped us modify. Sallie isn't easy to get a hold of as she is in demand so if you want to hire her, you will have to plan in advance. She has great judgement and I trusted her opinions. I would gladly hire Sallie agin and recommend her to anyone that is interested in beautifying their home.

The project we used Sallie for came out beautifully. While the work was being done, people walking by would stop and tell us how great everything looked and our next door neighbor came over to tell us the new stone wall "was a work of art." We would use Sallie again without hesitation! Her design plans were very thorough, she managed all aspects of the job, was at the job site frequently, and any questions were answered immediately. Luckily the weather cooperated and the job was done quickly. We are so happy to have had the work done, and are enjoying both the beauty and function of it every day.

We worked with Sallie to re-do our backyard and front yard. I would highly recommend Sallie if you are looking for someone with good aesthetics, is knowledgeable and works with her clients to find the most suitable option. After we iterated on the design, Sallie led the construction which included an extension of our patio, installation of a retaining wall, new plantings, lighting, irrigation and re-sodding. She is very responsive, professional and committed. For example, she personally hand-watered the plants for days on end until the irrigation systems were in place. I would highly recommend Sallie for any landscaping project. Our yard looks beautiful!

Sallie was our landscape designer and then oversaw the project as the general contractor. We had our patio redone, and an area of the yard finished with a new builtin custom natural looking firepit, surrounded by plantings and lighting. We also did a dark-color fence to hide the HVAC. She was very professional and communicated clearly at every stage. She was good at listening to us, She has great design sense. The landscaper we ended up going with was someone she helped us find and she had worked with before. Sallie is busy, in demand. She was not there every day but she was on site for the important parts, especially those requiring taste and judgement. I liked that she has opinions and pushes back both on the landscaper and us when she doesn’t think something is going to work out well. The only thing I was not happy about was the price, but I guess that’s the world we live in these days! The entire process was painless and went smoothly. The landscaping, is beautiful both during the day and at night! I would gladly hire Sallie again for my next landscaping project.

This is the second project that we have worked with Sallie on, and again we had a wonderful experience working with her. She was able to make sense of our varied ideas and inspiration images and through her knowledge and experience, she is able to bring them to life into truly creative and beautiful designs. Sallie is easy to work with, profesional, reliable and knowledgeable. We knew that we could trust her to bring our vision to life and could not be happier with the result.

Sallie put together a design for a large part of my property and I couldn't be happier with the work done thus far. She was a delight to work with, impressed me with her considerable knowledge and worked seamlessly with the crew I hired to implement her plan. She listened to what I wished to have and was adaptable to adjusting her plan to any changes I asked for. She is the consummate profesional with just the best smile!

Sallie has done all the landscape design on my 1/4 acre lot. We were working with a blank slate, but we still had lots of challenges such has drainage issues, shade, and a sloping front, side and back yard. She created a complete plan that we could implement in phases that met all our needs Our plan includes multiple patios, retaining rock walls, privacy planting, decorative planting, walkways and a driveway. Sallie did an exceptional job creating interesting and functional hardscapes and plant beds. Sallie is professional, dependable, and fun to work with. She is knowledgeable and respected in her trade. I loved working with her and look forward to continuing to work with her as we finish each phase.

Sallie is super easy to work with. She has created a very beautiful design for my home combining her knowledge of what works and what doesn't with my wishes for plants and color. I highly recommend her as she is very responsive and reasonable. She was able to listen to my vision and turn it into a plan that is beyond what I imagined.
