Among the many contractors with whom my wife and I have worked in revitalizing our century-old Virginia farmhouse, SBDA ranks as the very best. After exhaustive research, we selected Scott to create and carry out an extensive landscaping plan. We were highly confident that Scott and his colleague Anna were the best team to take on this challenge, and yet, throughout the process, they continued to surpass our exalted expectations in every respect. Scott's design was at once true to the site and brilliantly original. He immediately perceived our vision and sharpened, broadened and elevated it in ways we could never have imagined--all while meticulously honoring the constraints of time and budget. The masonry, carpentry and landscape installation contractors with whom SBDA has established relationships are, without exception, the very best I have ever observed. We now start and end each day on the flagstone terrace, admiring their verdant incarnation of our dream.

We could not be happier with our back yard. After a very negative landscaping experience with another company, Scott and his staff were a delight to work with. Scott figured out exactly what we wanted before we even knew ourselves. I love our yard, and am grateful to Scott for his talent, gentle persuasion and professionalism. We loved the job that SBDA did for us almost 20 years ago so much that we hired them again when we recently downsized and wanted to redesign the small courtyard/patio space behind our new townhouse. Scott is an amazingly talented designer with an eye as to how to make things work together so they look like they have been there as part of any original home. We had an orientation challenge between the house, a large oak tree and a brick retaining wall. He was able to figure out how to bring these 3 elements together to make our house look amazing.

I cannot say enough good things about Scott Brinitzer and his team. Not only are his designs beautiful, but he and Brendan (his #2) are extremely thoughtful. They made sure that some beautiful older trees were safely protected; they made sure to deal with erosion issues; they addressed complex elevations; and they planted plants most appropriate for the area. And they turned the jungle we purchased 2 years ago into a beautiful front and side yard that blended well with our contemporary home without making it look out of place for our neighbor hood full of traditional and craftsman homes (Franklin Park). When you work with Scott and Brendan, you can be certain that they care about your project--honestly I don't think a project done at their own homes would have gotten any more thought or attention. And both guys (and Sally in the main office) are all really nice people--friendly, outgoing problem solvers with great communication. We located Scott based on Houzz recommendations and his designs posted online. And we could not be more happy with him, his team or the result.

Scott Brinitzer Design Associates is an incredible to work with. They are true professionals every step of the way. From the first consultation they listened to what I wanted and captured that perfectly in the design plan. They worked with me every step from budgeting to plantings. Scott and his team continuously followed up on my project even after the installation. They took the time to explain the trees and plants, why they were chosen and how to care for them during the critical installation phase. They are the very best!

Scott and his team were a delight to work with. He is very creative and has a wonderful eye for individualizing his work to your property and architectural style. Scott is an accomplished landscape architect with a sophisticated vision for handsome, structural gardens. We interviewed three other landscapers before finding Scott. He listened closely to our ideas for more than an hour before developing a design for the garden that was so much more than we had been able to articulate. Even better, he arranged the work in stages so we could closely control the budget as work progressed. He and Brendan were a delight to work with: they checked on progress regularly, were available to answer questions, and did what they promised to do. We could not be more delighted with the results. Neighbors walking by often stop to comment on our stand-out garden, thanks to Scott's wonderful work.

I moved into a loft in Logan Circle last year. The loft had a private 900 SF roof terrace that was nothing but concrete pavers. I interveiwed several landscape architects that were referred to me. I chose Scott due to his personality, his excitement about the potential project, and the initial recomendations he had. Scott was amazing from start to finish in turning that barren space into a true urban outdoor getaway. This was no easy project as Scott and his team (primarily Brendan, who is great) had to work with several outside contractors, as many of the pavers were replaced / recovered with IPE decking and a lush, outdoor faux grass. Several massive planters also had to be designed and custom built. Also, they assisted in selecting all of the furniture for the space. In addition to that, all of the plantings had to be selected to flow with the now diversified space. So, Scott and his team were true professionals in working with me to recomeend big picture changes, along with minute details. In essence, I have doubled the size of my condo, as I use my outdoor space very often for entertaining and relaxing. Scott and Brendan are true professionals who I would not hesitate to recommend. Thus far, I have been on a two year journey with Scott and his team to rehabilitate a bland and disinterested yard with zero personality into Cinderella. The transformation into a garden oasis has been remarkable and I now wait in anticipation for the following spring to see how everything continues to blossom and grow even more spectacular than the year before. Prior to Scott and his team working their magic, my yard challenges were many. Any greenery was probably a weed. The grass, if it even grew at all, was almost un-mowable due to shallow tree roots. There was no privacy from the street. Poor drainage was leading to a leaky basement. And there was no area well suited for an outdoor entertaining space due to trees being situated in all the wrong places. After a few initial meetings, Scott and his team designed a beautiful yet practical landscape plan that addressed the challenges while also providing a welcome and inviting outdoor living space with never ending aromas and blooms of color. The work was spread out over about a 14 month timeframe to accommodate my budget timeline, which Scott was more than happy to work with. And Scott's expertise does not stop at gardens. When I needed to re-do my driveway, he also assisted with that. Unlike many contractors that finish a job and are gone for good, Scott and his team have been very hands on, checking in regularly on my garden's progress and happily answering the myriad of questions I had, and continue to have, along the way. Scott and his team truly are masters of their craft. They have an ability to envision and create unique landscapes and gardens that become a seamless part of a home.
