What started out in my mind as a berm to control some erosion problems, turned into to something that I never envisioned It will be something that my wife and I and friends will enjoy for quite a few years. Karen listened to what we wanted and came up with a design for a dry bed that she and her team quickly installed. What a bunch of hard workers. When my wife bought more plants than matched the space they created, she came up with a creative solution to extend the design in a pleasing fashion. Looking forward to next year when the plants fill in a bit.

I have worked with Kerin Marek at Shades of Green Landscaping for many years. During this time period, my yard has been transformed from an ordinary space filled with grass (mostly weeds) to an environment filled with a happy variety of flowers, grasses, shrubs, trees, etc. Kerin has provided recommendations for the landscape design and for the selection of plants, but she has always listened to my wishes and preferences. Kerin Marek of Shades of Green Landscaping really knows what she is doing. She helped me get the look I wanted in my garden, which included correcting previous errors by me and by another landscaper. I was very pleased with the rock wall she built around a slightly berm'ed bed. And it still looks great about 5 years later. She has a great talent for placing rock and other natural hardscape material. Once the plants have matured, most people think that it was always that way, naturally. And she knows the plants that do well in different situations in our zone and soil. I expect to have her do more work on my garden over time. Last year she helped a friend re-work her garden, which had been on a tour, and the changes have freshened the look of it beautifully, and fixed some upkeep issues that were aggravating. I recommend her without reservation.

Three years ago, we were looking for a landscape designer to propose a new design and replace the existing overgrown, unhealthy plants around our yard. A friend recommended Kerin Marek and Shades of Green Landscaping and we are so glad she did! Since that time, Shades of Green has done many projects for us and we have never been disappointed! As a master gardener, Kerin Marek is incredibly knowledgable about plants and she readily shares her knowledge with the homeowner. In addition, she has a unique artistic talent when it comes to landscape design. We always look forward to seeing Kerin in the spring and deciding which project we will work on over the summer. Kerin has always done a wonderful job. Our landscaping has never looked better. I like her design ideas and the fact that she reuses plants I already have and incorporates them in the design. The recent addition of landscape lighting is the perfect addition!

On behalf of our town home association I hired Shades of Green Landscaping to re-landscape our existing but exhausted areas. This project will span a 3 year time frame before completion and Shades of Green will be maintaining the new project and continually cleaning up the existing. I have been working with Shades of Green for several years now. I first hired them to design a large landscaping (1/4 acre) project to turn my back yard into a perennial garden to eliminate the need to mow grass. Shades of Green did all the design, and coordinated all the planting suggesting plants that would do well in shade vs sun and bloom in spring vs summer or fall and working with me on colors, plant height, etc. The space has been transformed. Over the years I have also hired them for spring and fall cleanup, mulching, trimming, etc. They have always been very professional and responsive and have been a joy to work with. I would highly recommend.
