Small Brown Landscape Architects is a collaboration between Sarah Small and Ruth Brown, both longtime residents of the San Francisco Bay Area who share a passion for gardens. Their work includes restoration of historic garden settings, the creation of landscapes that take advantage of the San Francisco Peninsula's temperate Mediterranean climate, and designs that can endure the challenges of an oceanside environment. Over the years the firm has created intimate courtyard gardens, whimsical outdoor rooms, romantic cottage gardens, contemporary stonescapes and extensive, integrated landscape designs for multi-acre estates. They have restored and transformed aging and neglected gardens, giving each home new life and vigor. The partners work hand in glove with their clients to develop distinctive outdoor environments that reflect each individual's aesthetic, personal style, and desires.
