Once we decided to do a full front and back yard makeover, calling Susanna Pagan Landscape Design was the best decision we made. What impressed us the most about Susanna is her communication and follow-through. She really listened to what we wanted, was able to translate our aesthetic into a well-designed plan within our budget and made herself available to us for questions throughout the entire process. Susanna’s attention to every detail including (but not limited to!) her knowledge of native horticulture, tile selections, color choices, HOA rules and regulations, even lighting and furniture options, is evident in the stunning results of our outdoor spaces. One of our neighbors told us our front yard belongs on a magazine cover…you just can’t beat a compliment like that! Susanna is exceptionally good at what she does. She creates beautiful landscape designs but she doesn't just do it for you, she does it with you. From our initial meeting, we felt listened to and heard by Susanna. She asked a lot of questions to understand our likes and dislikes, she shared her ideas and suggestions, and she really helped us shape our vision for our back and front yard before she started working on the drawings. Susanna set our expectations up-front as far as the timing of each step of the process, and she met all her commitments. Once the design was done, she recommended several contractors to do bids on our project. Based on the bids, she worked with the contractor we selected to make a few changes to the original design to make the project less expensive. She was patient and accommodating, and creative, so, in the end, we were able to get to what we wanted at a lower cost. Throughout the project, Susanna was available for questions, and she came to the property to check on how things were progressing. Susanna has impeccable taste and a great eye for color/shape combinations, so we also relied on her to shop for the accent pieces, and were very happy with what she was able to find. All in all, we had a great experience working with Susanna and would highly recommend her.

This project was a challenge because the basic landscape structure, which had gotten a bit old and tired, was to remain in place while adding in new plants, irrigation and hardscape. Susanna worked closely with our family to design a beautiful garden surrounding the entire house. She put together a colorful low water plant scheme, DG pathways with embedded stone, privacy hedges, FX Luxor zone able/ dim able landscape lights, potted accent plants, garden boxes, fountains, bird bath and more. It all works together magically to create just the environment we hoped to have surrounding our pool and new patio structure. I hired Susanna to re-design my front landscape and newly added private garden. I wanted someone with extensive plant knowledge and imagination-I did not want the usual water-saving plant suggestions. I found this in Susanna! Her knowledge and expertise are only surpassed by her professionalism, flexibility and wonderful disposition. She was particularly helpful in working with the landscape contractor in placement of the plants and plant selection and pot selection.

Susanna is wonderful! She has a wonderful eye for layout and very creative ideas for plantings. We wanted low water/low maintenance yard with lots of succulents. It's nearly impossible to envision how a space is going to look when planting small plants that will eventually grow in, but not only that, envision a large space and create a plan from the ground (dirt that is) up! We had an awkward shaped lot that we just could figure out how to tackle. Susanna came in and put together a beautiful design along with plantings which helped make the process so much easier! Highly recommend!

Susanna helped me create a wonderful outdoor space that is ideal for entertaining! Originally we just had a big grass area with a border of drab bushes. After building a new deck Susanna helped design a dining area, outdoor bbq, and wonderful plantings - It's GORGEOUS and we love spending time out there. We were putting in a pool and Susanna helped us figure out how to finish the rest of the space. She made hardscape and plant recommendations based on our budget and worked within our HOA guidelines. She delivered the plans as promised and introduced us to fantastic landscapers to finish the project. She was easy to reach and quick to respond to our questions. I really appreciate that while she made recommendations, she knew the final decisions were ours to make, and she supported them. She's just as excited to see the finished project as we are. Susanna designed and planned a complete renovation of our front yard. We wanted to replace our lawn and shrubs with drought tolerant plants, yet still have a pleasant looking yard. After talking with us she designed a yard within our budget - quite a challenge, I'm sure - and one with which we are extremely pleased.

Susanna was so incredibly helpful with our landscape renovation. We removed all the plants on our property and replaced them with more colorful plants that required less maintenance and were kid friendly. Susanna is extremely knowledgable and having her expertise help us navigate this project was invaluable. Her cheerful personality also made it a very pleasant, fun experience. She designed the entire layout, guided us with plant selection, ordered plants, managed deliveries, and was on site for plant placement and to make modifications as needed on the day of delivery. She was also very prompt in responding to a variety of questions I had throughout the process and followed up with us a number of times after to ensure our satisfaction with the final product. I would highly recommend Susanna to anyone renovating their landscape, be it a large, more complex project or smaller, simpler project. Susanna was wonderful to work with. I had a new home with dirt in the front and back of my house, and I had a hard time visualizing how to fill the space. Susanna is so incredibly creative, observant, and talented. The designs she created were perfect, with the right combination of colors, plant types, and hardscape. I had a relatively limited budget for the space I needed to fill and she really worked to create a beautiful space within my budget. The landscaping has just been completed and it looks spectacular. I am so thankful I had Susanna to create this amazing outdoor space.

I am absolutely thrilled that we hired Susanna. We purchased a house with a pool and "concrete jungle" backyard and really disliked it. We wanted more space, a modern/clean feel, and room for our son to play. With such a large undertaking, we wanted to make sure we were doing it right and so we decided to meet with a designer. We met with Susanna and absolutely loved her ideas. She came prepared with ideas for the house (and images on her iPad to help us visualize her thoughts). We were so impressed with her, we hired her to do the plans for our house. She really paid attention to what we were looking for and our design aesthetic. I was lucky enough to be referred to Susanna Pagan Landscape Designs this year. Susanna is extremely unique in that she has great technical skills from her graphic design background along with great sense of architecture/art style. She was able to couple her sense of design with her horticulture knowledge of all flora for different styles along with what plants work well/look good together even factoring in what season they bloom. Susanna handled the whole project from plant selection, light fixtures, pottery, fountain, etc...I also relied her to select furniture for the new garden. Susanna completely transformed my La Jolla backyard/garden to something that was well beyond my expectations and my garden has now become the focal point of my home.

LOVED working with Susanna! She went above and beyond to listen to my wants and needs for my yard and then design exactly what I wanted. Her plans were accurate and got the HOA approval with no hangups. Her plant list was very complete and she made changes as they needed to happen due to current plant availability. The small idea book she gave me was invaluable in sourcing the items we had discussed and served as a tool in not only obtaining bids but then referring back to it during construction. It was pretty hard for the contractor to say he didn't understand my design wants when I could show him the book he bid the job with!
