Timothy Lee landscape design

We had the pleasure of collaborating with Timothy Lee on a unique and rewarding project. Overall, Tim is a trustworthy, talented, and collaborative designer that truly cares about your goals. We highly recommend Tim. We have linked below a video you can see of the before and after of the project. A friend recommended Tim and he provided a free in-person consultation. Our goal was to transform a sloped, unusable yard into a usable space for adults to relax and kids to have fun. Tim was an invaluable resource, notably: He justifiably recommended a topographical survey (through a different person) that provided an invaluable guide for our final plans and making sure everything would be measured correctly. Tim brought years of experience to a design vision. He laid out two scenarios for us (one we knew would probably be pricier, and the final one we guessed together would be more practical in terms of price). Still, Tim put full effort into both visions, laying out pros and cons. Tim balances his experience with serving as a thought partner. He genuinely was interested in our ideas, what our family wanted, and incorporated these into our final design. Notably, we wanted a natural boulder look given the exterior woods outlining our property and I remember Tim excitedly exclaiming, "That is a great idea!" and coming back to us in a day or two with that incorporated. He also stuck with me while I sourced out a hillside slide from a manufacturer in New Hampshire. He was patient and conscientious in integrating the slide and its measurements into the design. Tim's final deliverable was a detailed, measured layout of the yard (patio, two-tiered playscape, slide built into a hillside and complete plan for plantings, flower beds). Tim also laid out an "adventure play land" on the bottom of the playscape to include natural logs our kids can traverse with friends (log balance beam and a (safe, but exciting) zip line, included!). Tim's vision was built around our goals and our family. Lastly, Tim was a guide in helping us select a contractor to implement his vision. He attended every bid meeting and developed a template for each contractor to complete so we knew we were obtaining apples-to-apples quotes. We never would have thought of that! When we selected our contractor, Tim attended weekly check ins as the project progressed and ultimately concluded to help us navigate any issues. Working with Tim was a pleasure! He took the time to understand our vision and provided a few options for our consideration. He was very open to working within our budget and ensured we were comfortable before moving forward. Once the work began, he was in constant contact (both on site and email/phone). The partners he worked with were outstanding! What we especially appreciate is that Tim's attention didn't just stop once the landscaping was complete! It was such a pleasure to work with Tim Lee. He is a great listener, creative landscaper, and a wealth of knowledge about plants. Our yard was somewhat of a blank slate without much "curb" appeal. Tim's designs created a vision that was inviting, dynamic, as well as ensuring the plants would be successful. He made sure any plants that did not survive were replaced or swapped out for another variety. Our project took place in stages. I loved seeing how the first phase grew in last year and I can't wait to see how the next phase will come in in the spring.

It's been said we make our own paradise. Well our paradise has been made by Tim Lee's visionary landscape architectural design. In our wildest dreams we could not have imagined the resulting "paradise we now have in our front & back yards: 9 Cherry, Dogwood, and Lilac trees, dozens of Boxwoods and perennials to blossom in each and every month; Arborvitae and other "evergreens" crating bordering privacy; climbing Pink Rose Bushes on house and garage trellises, thick spongy deep green grass, a patio design to relish and enjoy, subtle outside plant lighting to savor our "paradise" every day and night. Patio, pavers, and planting all gel into a gorgeous living canvas. I am truly mesmerized. Our extended family is awestruck and our neighbors want to know when they get an invitation. Thank you Tim !

Tim was great to work with. We have done two projects with Tim now and he really listens and has great ideas. In addition, Tim had creative - and relatively carefree - ideas that we never would have thought of. We do enjoy our space - it’s a new living area for us and makes me happy every time I see it. It was well worth working with Tim to design the space and really use its potential.

Tim designed a wonderful landscape for our new house in Gloucester, MA. He did a great job working with the requirements of the local Conservation Commission including using native plants designing a project with limited impervious surfaces. He also very carefully integrated his design into the surrounding landscape so that the edge of the area of new planting blends in with the old. Finally, Tim is a great listener and did a good job of meshing his expertise and vision with our goals for the project.

Tim Lee is a fabulous landscape architect. He has such a natural eye for design and his design is so unforced. He transformed an unused rocky hillside in our yard into a totally useable, BEAUTIFUL side yard and patio with rock wall and a very organic landscape. He also selected larger trees that have unique features each season and give us the privacy and interest that we wanted. He maintained the character of our rocky hillside and the changes look like they were always there. Now we have the most comfortable, inviting outdoor space for entertaining and relaxing, which has truly enhanced our daily living. Tim has a keen eye for color and for use of natural materials, which is exactly what we wanted. As a professional, Tim was always very receptive to our ideas and wishes for the space. He ran our project with consistent respect and concern for our budget. He is totally honest. His demeanor is so calm that he is very easy to work with - he is the kind of person that gets along with everyone! Tim was highly recommended to us by our architect and now we can see why. We feel that it is because of Tim and his thoughtful study of our space, that our project came out the way it did. We could not be more thrilled!

The back yard landscape that Timothy Lee designed for us is my favorite aspect of our house. We have three dogs, so a design that would accommodate both them and us was desired, and I couldn't be happier with the result. One of the reasons for seeking Tim's help was the flooding in our back yard, which got so bad last year that a pair of ducks decided to make it their home. Tim came up with a great solution of creating a retaining section in the back corner, which offers us maximum use of the space. Tim was also very talented at translating my ideas into a coherent piece of art- both functional and beautiful. My dogs, fiancé and I could not be happier!

Tim provided landscape architecture design for us where others have failed. Our objective was to make-over our entire front yard including the walkway, lawn and garden areas. The challenge was having to design around a sloping yard and an abrupt transition to the sidewalk, Tim was able to provide a solution that was practical and designed to fit our needs and aesthetic requirements.
