Schooled in many design styles, including classic English Arts and Crafts, French formal, Italian renaissance and modern minimalist, head designer Lorraine Locherty creates unique environments inside and out that reflect the personalities and tastes of their owners. A member of the international Association of Professional Landscape Designers, Lorraine specializes in the fluid integration of architectural details and imaginative planting plans to create balanced and distinctive indoor and outdoor spaces. Design services include: interiors, decks and patios, water features, outdoor kitchens, outdoor lighting and beautiful borders. Our garden designs have been featured on tours and in magazines, including Canadian Gardening, Tweed and Boulevard. We offer a full range of property and estate management services. Urban Habitats is a Best of Houzz winner for customer service in 2018, 2017 and 2016 and has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

Lorraine designed a created a beautiful garden for me. It was a large project with patio, rock work, electrical and many plantings. She is very knowledgeable, took all my wishes into consideration and communicated every step of the way. She went to great lengths to ensure I was happy and to ensure that the work was top quality. We have an old, modest-sized house and recently needed to re-do our small front yard after having our perimeter drain tiles replaced. We decided to seek professional design advice, which we’ve never done for past projects, as we wanted everything done correctly (e.g. proper ground preparation and levelling for installation of low brick garden wall, pathway, driveway). I was initially worried that a professional landscape designer may not be able to work within our modest budget and accommodate our needs. This was not at all the case with Urban Habitats Landscape Studio. After providing us with an initial design that included everything we’d asked for, but would have cost more than we wished to spend, Lorraine made some great suggestions, and was extremely flexible, accommodating and respectful in making modifications to keep the costs within our budget. The quality of workmanship in the hardscaping installed by Cam exceeded our expectations. The shrubs and ground cover in the planted areas are perfect. Couldn’t be happier with the final results!

Speaker-Workshop Committee hired Lorriane for 2 lectures.
An impressive body of work as a landscape designer prompted my garden club to hire Lorraine Locherty as a seminar speaker. Her lecture on shrubs that shine in the winter garden was lively and informative. Lorraine stayed afterward and fielded many questions from the audience.The membership is looking forward to Lorraine returning in the spring to conduct a workshop on landscape design with a particular focus on designing with ornamental grasses.

I am so thrilled with my new garden! Lorraine did the transformion iwhile I was in Europe. While I was enjoying touring and eating gelato, she toiled and did magic. I came home to a delightful transformation. She has a gift and I got to benefit. I have already recommended her to a friend who was very impressed with what Lorraine had done for me!

I had a wonderful time creating your new back yard paradise while you were away in Europe, Toni, even though hauling that 300 lb. concrete water feature up the stairs was challenging. I especially love the lighting effects were were able to achieve with Craigdarroch Castle glowing in the background.

Lorraine has helped my husband and I a couple of times. When we were building our house, she came by for a look, and she said, in passing, if we change the angle of the last 4 outside stairs, it would improve the flow, and get rid of the sharp angle. She was right, we changed the direction, and we love it. Lorraine also helped us design a water fall, and stream in our side yard. She recommended a number of different plants that would be appropriate, which I researched, and used. We are absolutely delighted with the finished project. Lorraine really knows her stuff, and she's brilliant.

Lorraine opened my eyes to completely different style of design. With all of her knowledge of plants and landscape, she is both able to design in advance with amazing blueprints, or work on the fly. I have witnessed many of her designs and everyone of them suits not only the property but also the homeowners. Her attention to detail leaves every job site immaculate.

Lorraine and her team have done 2 projects for me, removal of old raised beds and design and installation of new fountain and patio put in and design for new doors, deck and garden to compliment my character house. ON time, on budget, great work and highly recommended
