Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsJuly 20, 2015
We hired NW Outdoor Lighting after a long search for a professional that could provide a comprehensive lighting design that would enhance the aesthetics of both our home's architecture and our landscaping. We discussed our project with Mary Peterson, the owner of NWOL, who then visited our property to work with us on the better understand the dimensions of our property and demonstrate her product offerings. Shortly thereafter, she provided a design that fully fit our needs and budget, and she and her team did the installation approximately 2 weeks later. Mary is a joy to work with, she and her installation team did an excellent job throughout the installation process adhering to her schedule commitments and keeping the area clean and she held the costs within our budget. We are very pleased with the outcome and have received numerous compliments on the appearance of our home in the evening. We highly recommend NW Outdoor Lighting.
Green Spaces Landscaping

We found Green Spaces on Houzz in the fall and contacted them and two others. As soon as we met our designer we knew that they understood what we wanted. They designed a new walkway, front yard planting, and a great backyard retreat. The project was below our budget. The stone mason crews were top notch and very professional. They completed a week ahead of the original wrap up date. Our family loved the space and Christmas and we are very pleased. We look forward to working them in the near future.

Justino and his team did a full remodel of our yard. Justino was a huge help in finalizing the design. He also came up with a number of creative solutions to some of the issues with our property. We had a few challenges that we had to work through. The project was larger than Justino anticipated and it took longer than we thought. We also ended up more over budget than we thought. Overall we are really happy with the way everything turned out. Justino was a great partner and always worked to make us happy. I highly recommend his services.
Living Earth Landscapes
Landscapers in Bellevue, WA
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsAugust 27, 2019
We recently hired Bill Bowlus with Living Earth Landscapes to design our front yard and are extremely pleased with the result. We had some ideas (add several large boulders, use only plants that are easy maintenance with open mulched space in between), but didn’t know how to put it all together. The fact that we wanted to bring in large boulders complicated the process for us since not all landscapers who can suggest and arrange nice plants are also adept at bringing in and placing large boulders. Since the two processes would have to be coordinated before placing large rocks, we needed one person who could handle it all. What we liked about Bill: 1) His design ability. He listened to what we wanted (besides our ideas, we had some photos from yards we’d seen) and designed it even better than we had envisioned. He sent several plant and tree lists for us to choose from and we had lots of questions about these which he patiently answered after our various trips to different nurseries to see them in person. He brought out the larger plants and we worked together on placing these and marking the spaces for large rocks until we agreed on the design. The day of the rock placement (with large cranes), Bill expertly directed the placement, tuning rocks on their sides and digging them in to look like they were naturally protruding from a hillside and seeming larger than they were, thus we were able to get by with smaller rocks that still looked significant. 2) His plant knowledge. Though we had our own ideas, Bill was able to help us stick with just plants that are known to be currently successful in our climate while still meeting our criteria for the look we were after. He adds new plants and drops off old plants from his suggestion list based on how harsh the winters have been lately (the snow last year made him drop a few items from the list). I liked knowing we were getting the hardiest specimens that met our criteria since I don’t want to have to baby any plants. He steered us away from trees we’d seen in neighbors’ yards because the size they would get in our timeframe would not work well. 3) His reasonable prices. We had gotten another bid and we were having trouble getting back in touch with the contractor whose price was higher (and whose ideas we didn’t care for). Bill gave us a price range for each of our 3 separate bids (we added on a nice flagstone path and a separate drip irrigation system) and the final prices for each were always in the middle—and usually closer to the lower end of the range--for each of the 3 projects. The cost for the landscaping, including rocks, trees, plants and of course the design work, was $9500. We opted to add on the path later since we felt the price for the landscaping was reasonable. 4) His quick response to questions. We’ve worked with various contractors who drive you crazy by not getting back to you in a timely manner, especially when you need information to make a time-sensitive decision. Bill was great about answering questions quickly so we could proceed. We would highly recommend Bill for any of your landscape design needs.
Alderwood Landscape Architecture and Construction
Landscapers in Bellevue, WA
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsMarch 5, 2013
We hired Alderwood Landscape to redesign and relandscape our yard, take out our concrete driveway and install a paver driveway. The entire team was a pleasure to work with, always concerned that we were happy with the process and the final product. Our project was a big undertaking and there were hicups, but the crew was great at troubleshooting and working with us. We are excited to see our new plants in bloom and the driveway is not not only better from a functional standpoint, but a beautiful improvement.
True Scape Design
Landscapers in Bellevue, WA
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsFebruary 13, 2015
True Scape Design landscaped four sides of our yard for us. They installed low maintenance perennials, like key Lime Cora Bells, wooly thyme, Japanese holly, slender Hinoki cypress, full moon maple,a Hydrangea, daylily and many more. They took out the grass along our driveway and put in blue, and grey stones of different sizes and worked with the rocks already on property. They created bluestone pathways for us. They installed a Roman paver patio and also graded a hill and installed beautiful risers so we can walk off the new extended composite deck and walk down the risers to a peaceful and beautiful patio. Our experience through all this considerable work was confidence in True Scape Design and the owner Joseph Garel. He takes responsibility for his team. They are friendly, aim to please and do a terrific job in an organized way. They are thorough and take individual responsibility to do an excellent job. Everyone works well together. True Scape Design worked with us on choices and design to get what we wanted. When we did not know right away, we were given lots of time and options to consider, for instance in picking out pavers and type of deck material. We felt they really understood what we wanted. The estimates were accurate and bills accurately itemized. There were so many options for spending less in some areas and more in others. The crew went above and beyond to be thorough, fixing a big dip in the grass in the front yard. They were glad to change a ground cover I did not like. They listened to us. My husband and I are thrilled and enjoying our new deck and patio, front and side yards. We appreciate the professionalism, competence, and integrity of True Scape Design and its owner, Joseph Garel . Lynn and Rick Keat

We have hired Jim Reynolds and his crew two times, once for a small (but heavy) job bringing in a lot of big boulders and placing them, and the second project was for all the landscaping for our new home in Bellevue. What a great team, all working towards a beautiful (and useful fire pit) goal - our landscaped home.

Avalon Northwest Landscape, LLC

My wife and I wanted to replace our ageing 20 year old cedar deck in our backyard. So we contacted Kevin Monohan, co-owner of Avalon NW Landscaping, and our neighbor up the street. The design effort was truly a collaborative process, which we liked. We met with him 4 or 5 times throughout the process to conceptualize and to come up with a design about the layout, the hardscapes, the plantings, and the timing and execution of the plans. Kevin always encouraged us to give our ideas for the patio. It was always a joy meeting with Kevin. He always considered our ideas and offered his advice on what he thought would be best design for our patio. And he was cognizant of our cost constraints and laid out options for us to consider. Kevin also immediately notified us of additional work that needed to be done that wasn't known in the early planning phases and we were able to make decisions about these changes. Kevin has an excellent combination of skills, both interpersonal and professional. The crew that did the work was also fantastic. The three of them worked diligently for three weeks and each day cleaned up the site meticulously. We were amazed at how proficient Avalon NW Landscaping was at keeping on track and on-budget with our backyard project. When it was all done, we were very pleased with the process and the outcome. We give them exceptional marks and would highly recommend using Avalon Northwest Landscaping. Cliff & Patti, Wallingford, Seattle
