Absolutely fantastic experience with Mike, Emma, and the rest of the team. We had met with a number of landscapers before deciding on this one because they were focused on native plants, high-quality/long-lasting approaches, beautiful designs and thoughtful use of given spaces. While we had only a vague idea of what we were looking for, they really helped us come up with a beautiful plan that coalesced a variety of things: native plants, edible plants, water drainage, modern – and all in a small backyard! They also worked with us to help give us what we were looking for within our budget. Mike is always quick to respond to any questions, including after care which is greatly appreciated. We would definitely recommend them to others and would love to work with them again on any future landscaping projects!

After buying a home we love, we discovered that our big backyard had a big problem - WATER, and lots of it! The properties all along our street have a similar issue and our property was collecting more than its share of water. After every big rain fall we had ponds and spongy grass throughout the yard. We tried different gardening techniques and spent a lot of money trying to find the right solution. Last year, with all the rain we had in early spring I frantically scoured the internet determined to find an eco-friendly solution; that's when I discovered Fern Ridge! Mike and his crew studied our situation and came up with a comprehensive plan for our garden. He created a swale and rain garden to slow the flow of water and also helped us beautify the surrounding garden. We were skeptical at first but with Mike's depth of knowledge and patience, we entrusted our garden in his capable hands. The project was completed on time and on budget! Although we were still nervous after the first heavy rainfall , Mike's work did not disappoint! We finally had a solution that worked!! And the garden looked great! Every morning the first thing I do is look out on to my garden and thank Fern Ridge for what I see!! Thanks Mike!

I contacted Fern Ridge for them to install a Rain Garden at our Church of St Thomas a Becket Anglican Church in Erin Mills Mississauga.Mike Prong and his team at Fern Ridge are very professional and did a great job installing our Rain Garden to the planned layout we had agreed upon last September 2019.I would recommend Fern Ridge for any landscaping project you may have.

So many good things come to mind when writing this review. Mike is an expert in all things plants and water-drainage, and along with his designer Emma, came up with a fantastic plan in the landscaping of both our front and back yards, which involved a complete redesign of both front, back and one side of the house, a rain garden, other water drainage solutions and an Eco-raster driveway. As far as the practical work is concerned, Kyle and Asha (apologies for any mispelling!) went above and beyond to not only meet our aesthetic and practical needs, but also to do it in an eco-friendly way. We're still in amazement when we look around and think that all this was done by hand (not only the laying down of new materials, but the removal of all old material!), with the use of gas-powered machinery kept to a bare minimum. Their after-care he been fantastic as well; any concerns we had were promptly dealt with. Kyle and Asha were at our place for a few weeks and they are so nice that we were sad to see them go and the conclusion of their work. Mike was quick to respond to any questions, be it email or text, and he helped find appropriate solutions to match our budget. Kyle and Asha were always prompt in their arrival, and any planned delay was communicated well ahead of time. Could not recommend these guys more.

We were very happy with Mike and his team. Mike listened to our needs and helped us with a landscape plan. We were able to use some existing plants so it helped keep costs down. We were also looking for low maintenance and they recommended suitable plants and design. The job was done in a timely manner, his team was always professional and courteous. Highly recommended and would definitely refer to family and friends!

Sean Just wanted to thank you and your team for a great job installing the nightlighting at our home. It has truly transformed the outside to a new living space and the look is dramatic. Your work was on quote and ahead of schedule…..sometimes hard to find these days. But more importantly, it was the working relationship that led to the results. As happens sometimes with projects, as the paper transitions into reality… owners have new ideas pop up to throw a monkey wrench into the works…. These changes were met with positive and optimistic attitudes. You and your team saw our vision and made it happen. Your staff, in particular, were great to work with and were very conscientious and respectful of our property. Thank you. It would be a pleasure to give Fernridge a recommendation to anyone looking to add night lighting to their home.

Fern Ridge has been my landscaper of choice for many years. They have done hardscaping, landscaping, plantings & provided a multi-year garden project design for us at both the houses we have owned. The plant choices provide a unique look to our yard, each garden has thrived over the years. My favourite is our scree garden (not pictured)...Fern Ridge may not always be the cheapest - but you do get what you pay for and they provide excellent warranty work and personal service. I will continue to use Fern Ridge for all of my future landscaping needs.

Sean James really knows his stuff. He is creative, full of ideas and has lots of useful information about native plants, trees & landscape design. His team is professional and is there to help during project installation and maintenance. If you are looking for natural, native garden, I recommend you give Fern Ridge landscaping a call for a design and quote.

I have had the privilege of working with Fern Ridge both as client and collaborator. I first hired Fern Ridge back in 1998 when I bought a house with extensive perennial gardens of which I knew nothing about. Sean James (Mr. Fern Ridge), came with a wealth of knowledge, wit and creative insight that make him a pleasure to work with and immediately put my mind at ease. In short order my gardens became his gardens and reached their full potential. Later when extensive renovations to the exterior came, including a new foot print for the decking, Sean designed and installed a masterful addition to the landscaping that included sight, sound, colour and texture. There was burbling water, extensive stone paths and trees and perennials which complimented and worked with the indigenous plant materials. The final work was a living, breathing, blooming work of art. Sadly I moved from this garden, but not without taking Sean along to my next place to work his magic there. As a collaborator, Sean and his team at Fern Ridge created a stunning garden in a compact back yard for a mutual client, that included water falls, hillside landscaping in a Carolinian forest and hard landscaping which created a forest oasis in the city. My part was a bronze and glass sculpture that reflected this beauty and which was complimented by Sean's careful attention to night lighting and complimentary plantings. In short, they say "you can't take it with you;" but I know, so long as Sean James and Fern Ridge Landscaping are around, I can be assured that even through moving house my garden and stunning landscaping will be reborn again wherever I go. A house is just a house until you live in it and call it home. A garden is just a garden until Sean becomes a part of it and releases its inner spirit.
