Celebrating 20 in business building high quality, custom residential work with an emphasis on hardscape and construction in Chicago and northwest Indiana. London Stoneworks provides a high level of craftsmanship, specializing in natural stone and man made paver installations such as patios, walkways, entryways, outdoor kitchens and garden walls. Owner, Roger Essex, has 27 years of experience in the design and build industry. Roger obtained a degree in Landscape Construction at Merrist Wood College in Surrey, England. During that time, he constructed two award-winning gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show. The next four years were spent in London, working for a major landscape construction firm. Roger is the real deal. He transformed our back yard from a post-construction junk pit into an amazing space with beautiful stone and turf. In addition to doing great work, he went above and beyond from a service and communication perspective. My wife and I just brought our newborn home from the hospital when he was doing most of the work. He made sure to keep us in the loop on his progress and was incredibly flexible while juggling unpredictable late summer weather. I cannot recommend him enough.

Having worked with numerous contractors on a major renovation over the last 2 years, Roger at London Stoneworks would be the one contractor that we would recommend to others without any reservations. We had a major hardscaping project involving a large new patio, multiple entry ways, and a new pathway around the yard. Roger was a consummate professional and a pleasure to work with throughout the project, from planning to material selection to installation to dealing with unexpected issues (not caused by Roger's team). He was very responsive every time we reached out and was proactive in updating us on the status/progression of the project. We are very happy with how the work turned out and would not hesitate to hire Roger and his team again for future projects.

London Stoneworks replaced the lawn and concrete patio in our backyard with brick pavers and artificial turf. Overall an outstanding job that has gotten compliments from everyone who has seen the transformation of our backyard. We are thrilled with the quality of work done on the patio and walkway pavers, including a beautiful curved portion of the patio. We are mostly pleased with the artificial turf installation, but were slightly disappointed that seams are visible in some areas of the turf. Great care was taken during the entire process of removal of soil and concrete and installation of new material. The team was very diligent and efficient in their work. So much so that our neighbors even commented about how clean and organized the worksite was kept throughout the project.

Roger did an exceptional job designing and installing new, bull-nose limestone front steps and a limestone paver landing for our century-old row house in Lincoln Park. I had a very specific (and somewhat uncommon) vision for the project and Roger executed it beyond my expectations and completely transformed the façade and curb appeal of our home. Professional, extremely high-quality workmanship, quick response time, project was finished on time, very easy to work with. He did two projects for us: first a small retaining wall in front and we were so pleased with the job that we had him do the patio in the backyard.

Roger from London Stoneworks recently completed a huge new patio space behind our home. He was absolutely professional throughout the process. He had to remove our decks and discovered some rot and additional work necessary to continue. Finding someone to do this work within days would have been impossible on our own, but he found someone for us who did the work quickly and priced reasonably, so that we would have no delays. Just a great experience, would absolutely recommend him for all kinds of projects.
