Mediterrasian Landscapes

I hired Richard to design a conversion of a low concrete wall in my backyard into a living wall. Richard selected the planting system, specified materials and gave me several choices of design. This posed a somewhat difficult problem since the area is rather shady. Richard produced high quality drawings and a complete listing of what was needed for the project. In this case, I chose to do the project myself. However, had I needed one, he recommended a contractor in my area to do the work. His design services were reasonably priced and I really like the look of the finished project.

Quality workmanship and excellent communication. Richard has a good understanding of City Codes and conformance with those requirements in the urban built environment. Our project consisted of raised planter boxes on the sidewalk and we have received so many compliments on the carpentry and design. Boone, the carpenter, was polite and his work was precise making the whole process seamless. Five Stars from us!

The knowledge of the employees is unprecedented. They explained the full process with understandable instructions. They have taken my brown yard to a beautiful green in 2 years.

Very happy with Richard's design of a hybrid Asian/Bay Area drought tolerant backyard on a deep slope. He inspected the space twice, put in lots of thoughts and hours, designed a wonderful landscape with combinations of Asian and native elements. I can't wait to have it installed.

Richard was polite and patient as we waffled on our materials and layout of our backyard. His renderings and photos of materials were invaluable. He was prompt with is emails and calls even though I think he was on vacation out of town. And he was sensitive to our cost constraints. Elliot, the solo worker, did the labor efficiently and left the site tidy. Both Richard and Elliot were professional and I would use them again if I had another yard.

I reached out to Richard after reading their great reviews on Houzz and I'm so pleased that I did. With our non-traditional project, Richard was very easy to work with and went with the flow. He was collaborative and flexible as we figured out how to tackle our backyard. He fit us in quickly and his team did a great job completing the project. I will definitely be reaching out to Richard again for future projects.

Richard is a pleasure to work with. I have worked with him for two projects; a total landscape of our backyard, and more recently a landscape of our frontscape. The most recent project involved design of a frontscape driveway area that met the guidelines of the "Green Landscaping Ordinance" of San Francisco. There were specific guidelines we had to meet for design and permit submission to the city. Anytime you deal with the city to obtain permits there are challenges, but Richard's attention to detail made this project run smoothly. Once we had permits, Richards team (led by Erick) completed the work beautifully and in record time! I anticipated a long period where my driveway and garage would be unusable, but this time was surprisingly short! His efficiency made life much easier. I love my new pavers and planting beds! My house looks so beautiful now. Thanks to Richard and his team.

Mediterrasian Landscapes completed a beautiful update to our hardscaping, installed a small turf area, and helped to terrace our garden for easier access and more usable space in our sloped San Francisco backyard. We're very happy with the quality of work and the care that their team put into the project. It did take about twice as long to complete as they had originally predicted, but we did expect it would take longer and we're quite happy with the end result.

Mediterrasian Landscapes took on a job few others wanted to do. I had water leaking into my garage. I needed to have part of my Patio Courtyard which had a flooring of Mexican Tile removed and dug out down 18" into the underneath part which was rock and sand. And they had to do it professionally, by hand without machine digging. Then they had to check the walls which had stucco. The foreman knew enough about stucco to check for leaks and the reassemble the whole thing including making a rock slurry and a French Drain through the Courtyard Wall to the front planter. Everything required a finished look, which they accomplished. They also had to lay quite a lot of Mexican Tile in a way that protected the vertical surfaces in the proximity. This isn't easy work and it was in the immediate vicinity of the House where I lived. They did what they set out to do. They determined that it was not likely that this area was the source of my leaks but in case it was, finished it to prevent leakage into the Garage. It took a few more years to finally discover the major source of the leak into the Garage which was done by a plumbing company. Between the two contractors, I have no more leakage into my Garage, which is a major accomplishment for my home.

Mediterrasian was hired to do hard scaping of my backyard and do an entire new landscaping in the front of the house. They put in pavers and rocks, built large redwood planter boxes and planted a variety of different plants and a couple of smaller trees. They put in an irrigation system also. They were a joy to work with. I had asked for several changes as we went through the process and they always listened and met my requests or had helpful alternatives. They were on time while working and finished the project In a timely manner. I would give them my highest recommendation.

Richard and Stephen of Mediterrasian Landscapes were fantastic to work with. They worked very close with us and aimed to understand our needs when it came to designing our backyard, what our vision was, and how we intended to use the space. Stephen and the labor crew were especially great. They brought a very solutions-oriented mindset and were proactive with offering alternatives and discussing potential trade offs. Outstanding. Look at the before and after 1 year photos. Mediterrasian did everything; terracing, retaining wall and planting. We told Richard that we neglect plants so he found beautiful plants that need minimal care. We did not have a drip-line installed. I water with a hose ~ twice a month in the summer and not ever in the winter. After one year, EVERY species of plants has done well. Stunning. As you can see, we need to paint the house a new color. LOL

I was very pleased with Richard and his crew. They were timely, respectful, communicative and do polished work. I would certainly hire them again.

I had a master yard plan and sought Mediterrasian for a quote on doing just the concrete retaining walls in the plan. They ended up doing the whole yard! Specifically regarding the 3 concrete retaining walls I was impressed with how quickly they were able to begin excavating and hauling around dirt to begin grading and leveling out a sloped long yard. Then installing the wooden forms for the concrete foundation. I asked that they leave the wood imprints, which saved some labor cost of smoothening out the print lines. There is a minimal cost to tint and/or seal the concrete, both optional. Even though we found them through HomeAdvisor originally to obtain a quote to install a retaining wall I gave them an itemized list of work needed to execute a grand landscape plan all drawn out, with a budget that I thought would not be attainable. They matched my budget & provided recycling/upcycling solutions to save on labor& materials. They never pushed ideas out of our minds, and actually added great artistic touches to the final construction of a concrete seat in a rock retaining wall. They worked with haste each day making significant progress with a consistent team of 3 men each day to execute the plan. Highly Recommended! I have referred them many times - especially to people who have seen our yard from next door when they had an open house.

You will be more than happy with their work. They are truly craftsmen and artisans. And I've seen other projects they've done down my street and am amaized at the high end quality.
