“Working with Stephen has been great. He's completely transformed our backyard from a wide open expanse of boring grass into an oasis that attracts butterflies and bumblebees and all sorts of critters. We had a feeling when we met him at a local Earth Day festival that he was the guy we'd been looking for to work on our backyard, literally for years. When we saw examples of his work, including his own yard, we knew he was the right choice. The last thing we wanted was some modern hardscape nightmare or overly precious landscaping done with shrubs from the local hardware store. We wanted something interesting, natural, different, and even a little rustic. Stephen focuses on indigenous plants and avoids any hint of invasive species. His designs are extremely well planned and very thoughtful, but at the same time extremely natural and inviting. We gave him what we thought was a tall order - we wanted sitting in our backyard to feel like we were sitting in a forest. Not look like, but FEEL like. And he nailed it! We used to have a big open yard with no shade that needed lots of maintenance all summer long. Now we have a slate patio with a fire pit that's surrounded by decorative grasses, flowers, shrubs, and trees. It's beautiful! He got to understand what we wanted by having us fill out a questionnaire that really got to the heart of our goals (and our budget). Then we talked about it so he really understood what we wanted. He incorporated a lot of our favorite plants by request, and addded a bunch we'd never heard of that have become new favorites. Stephen really engaged with us and listened to us. He didn't just give us a cookie cutter design or a modified template. We're on a corner lot, so one request was to provide some kind of privacy while we're out there, without planting a big wall of shrubs that would block summer breezes. Stephen figured that challenge out too. His designs are so thoughtful that he even takes into consideration the angle of the sun at different times of the year so that light and shadow become part of his design. And on top of all this, he's a genuinely nice guy who's really easy to talk to and fun to work with. We cannot recommend Stephen highly enough. We're looking forward to working with him again next season on a couple of new phases.”

“From the first encounter with Adrienne to the actual logistics of scheduling and execution with Tessa and Jose, DiSabatino exceeded my expectations. The design was beautiful and modified to fit budget and my own love of gardening and wanting to do some of it myself. The 3-D drawings brought it to life and allowed my husband to envision the finished effect. The work began earlier than expected and was pretty complete (hardscaping and phase 1 of landscaping) within 2 weeks (in spite of heavy rain on two days). The landscaping crew touched up beds where old shrubs had been removed and added some stone to areas where the flow of rain would wash away mulch. They are coming back next month to finish the landscaping. Can't wait to see it all finished.”
