    “My wife and I initially did not believe the timeline that was provided for the scope of work that needed to be done (1/3 an acre, combination of pavers, turf; requiring steps and work around columns). But Nader and the folks at NAB construction stuck to the deadline and completed the work on schedule. We were equally impressed at the attention to detail -- with Nader as project lead constantly reviewing the plans with his team to make sure the specifications were as discussed.”

    “The owner of this firm, Omar Khorsheed, carried out a very extensive and difficult landscaping job for our home about 10 years ago. This involved all aspects of design and construction - and subsequent maintenance. It is something of an understatement to say that we were and have remained delighted with the result. An essential part of that abiding delight derives from Omar's remarkable, and to us surprising and unexpected, artistic vision about the job,. The result owes relatively little to our input, and what we have, what we enjoy, we overwhelming owe to his very creative artistic understanding and sensibility. Importantly, however, when we did disagree with him he discussed the issues with us in a good-spirited and respectful manner and, when we resolved on a clear decision, acceded to that in good will. Highest marks and much gratitude to Habitat and DeVries.”

    “We hired G Family because we wanted to have a local company competent in both design & build to make our backyard a place for our kids to play, for us to garden, and host friends. What we got was an enjoyable process with phenomenal people who have become like family to create an oasis of play, joy, and peace. Dave transformed many dilapidated terraces into a coveted flat yard space, with a patio for entertainment or yoga and a hot tub/outdoor shower sanctuary. Zach is an absolute dream to work with, plus a plant genius. He worked with us to design the most stunning zones of colorful life that perfectly blend zen and pollinator gardens, fruit trees, open play areas, and vegetable beds with stunning rock walls (in a small footprint)! The G family’s execution of our vision gave us the most invaluable gift. We spend every day in our yard, and it has become not just a place to enjoy the view and company but where we come to decompress and bond as a family. Thank you so much, G Family!     “Gary, his family and his team are a true joy to work with. They are very professional and responsive and are able to offer suggestions and adjust strategies when site conditions don’t reflect what the plans show. Gary and Allissa both know their plants and materials very well and are resourceful when deciding what will and won’t work and what should be implemented in different climates on a property (shady, sunny, wet, dry, etc.) We have been through several different landscape projects in the 20 years we have owned our home and Gary and team are the best we have ever worked with. They are the only ones we will be using now and in the future.”

    “CK Landscape has done a great job installing several of my design projects. The owner, Alex Cartwright, is extremely knowledgeable about hardscape, irrigation, plants and landscape lighting. My preference is to work with contractors who can bring their own expertise and experience to make the project truly collaborative, and Alex excels at this. On a recent project, he found a beautiful flagstone that helped pull the design together, and had great ideas for enhancing several of the project’s structures. It’s wonderful to work with a contractor who is committed to making sure that the project is a success and the clients get the best possible outcome.”

    “My garden had good bones but the plants were all wrong. I wanted a garden that looked natural but well-kept, a tough aesthetic to pull off. I wanted lots of birds and butterflies. Mariposa Gardening has taken care of my garden for a few years now. The principal, Andrea Hurd, started by editing the original sorry collection of misplaced plants, replacing the losers with absolute winners. I now have a beautiful variety of textures, colors, shapes and sizes. Something is in bloom in all seasons. We are overrun with birds and, in season, with butterflies. Her maintenance crews have done a great job of keeping her work looking good. The trees are elegantly pruned; each one displays that gold standard "looks like it grew that way" look. Any special request that I make is quickly taken care of. Sometimes I get treats, in the form of new flowers or vegetable starts (I love foraging in my own back yard). In short I am completely happy with Mariposa Gardening and Design.”
