Wonderful to work with. Great team and native plant specialists. They also built a flagstone walkway to perfection and fixed some significant drainage issues. This was our 2nd major project with West Winds. We will use them every time!

We’ve used West Winds for 3 projects over the last 10 years. Recently they completed a landscaping project for our newly built house. During the building process we purposely did not increase the builders landscape package because we wanted to work with Cecilia and Phillip again. They are creative, thoughtful and so enjoyable to work with. They bring a different element to your landscaping design than the typical house on the street. They take into consideration of how you will use your yard and those members of the household who will be spending the most time in the yard (children & animals in our case). The plantings have so much depth and texture, it’s been an exciting adventure for us for the first spring to watch everything come to life again. Also they were great with problem solving erosion and water flow issues. Solutions that resolved the issues and were hidden from view. Strategic rock placements (not only serving water flow issues and creating natural boundaries, but for the adventures of a young child), varying types of trees and their placements, burying downspouts, dry stream, etc. We’ve recommended them to several friends and family and will continue to use them in the future.

I recently had West Winds Nursery do landscape and grading work in my front yard. I was looking for something creative and unique with a natural cottage garden feel. I also had a negative grade corner that I needed to address for proper drainage. Cecilia designed a beautiful pollinator garden with lots of flowers, texture, and seasonal interest that will be easy to maintain. She added an unusual bird bath to give the area something special. Philip and his team did an excellent job addressing surface water flow and bringing Cecilia’s design to life. They carefully listened to my wish list and concerns and delivered even more than I envisioned. They were a delight to work with and I plan to work with them again on lighting. If you are looking for something beautiful and unique, I would highly recommend West Winds.

I contacted West Winds Nursery after seeing their photos of their gardens on Houzz. I especially liked the pop-up garden and their use of boulders for accents. Working with Cecilia and West Winds was a painless and pleasant experience. The cost was well within my budget. I am in a Townhouse and was concerned that my backyard may be too small for them to landscape. Cecilia came out to meet with me and listened to my ideas of the plants and colors I like. I also needed a small retaining system to help with some erosion that was happening by the back fence. After our meeting I sent her a few photos of gardens to give her a reference of what I was trying to achieve. She is extremely knowledgeable and provided a beautiful plan which included the plants and colors I mentioned in our meeting along with plants that I had not thought of. My backyard gets some afternoon sun but is mostly shaded. Not only did she provide the landscape design plan, but she included photos of the plant selections in bloom so I could see the colors and flowers. She also worked my existing plantings, birdbaths and fountain in to the design. I wasn’t sure about some of the plants and she updated the design to rework a few of the plantings. She is very patient and a pleasure to work with. After we finalized the plan, it took several weeks to procure the plants and then we had to wait out the rainy weather. It was early December when Cecilia and her crew came out to complete my landscaping. She assured me that all the plants would survive the Winter but if any did not survive, they would replace them. She also offered to come out in the Spring when the plants are in bloom to check on them. That is certainly a testament to their customer service! Attached are a few photos of the completed project. I am very excited to see everything in bloom and will post updated photos after my Spring meeting with Cecilia.

West Winds Nursery was fantastic. They were wonderful to work with staying true to our ideas as well as offering aesthetically pleasing suggestions. Additionally they partnered with other contractors for a smooth installation. This is our second major project with West Winds and we would not hesitate to contract them again.

We cannot recommend West Winds Nursery enough. This was our first landscape project and we are very inexperienced with maintaining outdoor plants. Nevertheless, we feel confident with our finished project and our ability to care for it. Cecilia listened to our ideas (and concerns) and incorporated them perfectly into the landscape design. She was careful to select plants that would bloom at different times of the growing season to create a landscape with visual interest at all times. She also tried to make deer-resistant choices. We were given a very thorough spreadsheet with each and every plant broken down by quantity, price and pictures. Installation took about two days. Phillip and his crew did incredible work! We were so pleased to see Cecilia checking on the design both days. Attention to detail and quality of work is apparent with them. After installation, we were left with many, many new plants and very clear instructions how to care for them. Cecilia told us how and when to water, how and when to prune and offered email support for any questions down the road. This degree of personal attention and service is what makes West Winds stand out from the crowd. We are already looking forward to our next project!

I recently hired West Winds to put in a patio, mulch beds, flower/vegetable planter beds, and rock garden in my rather large TH backyard in Tysons. I am very satisfied with the outcome. Cecelia initially gave me a very detailed, rather innovative diagram of the hardscape and the plants. I had wanted something that was a bit intriguing, and didn't look like every other back yard. When it came to the planting part, Phillip came out with at least 5 others and did all the work in 3 or 4 days. . When we needed a slight midcourse correction, we quietly discussed it, and they resolved it well. We're holding off on the plantings until the Fall, when the plants should "take" better. As I told Cecelia, if any future customer wants a reference or wants to see their work, she is free to give out my number.

Outstanding service and beautiful results. Custom designs each project to meet customers desires with native species of unique plantings. Each design they have done for me is a work of art that combines beauty with minimal care and maintenance.

Cecilia and Phillip provided me with a creative, cost effective landscape solution for my patio and large planting beds. The work looks great and has matured very nicely. Phillip is prompt and has a great eye for detail in the installation of the plantings and hardscape. Additionally, I have used them for new home building projects and have had the same experience.

West Winds Nursery completed the drainage and landscaping project on our property in April of 2016. We have decided to chose West Winds over other contractors mostly due to the holistic and creative approach to our project presented to us by Cecilia, as well as WWN ability to stay within the set budget. Our backyard had a major drainage problem, with all neighboring rain waters flooding the yard and eroding the soil. West Winds solution did not just solve our drainage problem, but turned our yard into a beautiful oasis. Cecilia's selection of planting material ensured that there are blossoming flowers throughout the whole season. Cecilia has been checking on the plants and educating us about landscaping maintenance even after the project was finished. Our project was completed in 3 days!!!! which was unbelievable not only because of the substantial scope (large dry river bed, underground drainage, landscaping), but the great quality of workmanship. We HIGHLY recommend West Winds Nursery and will definitely be using them for our future landscaping projects.
