“UPDATE: 8/12/14--After the worse rainstorm since the 1960's, our water garden stood up to the test. It handled all the water from our house and several of our neighbor's yards. 24 hours after our 5.5 inches of rain, our yard is completely drained!!! And no water in the basement.!!! Than you to Drew for his extensive expertise. We had a water problem in our basement and standing water in our backyard which was heavy clay. Previous owner attempted to remediate with a French Drain (which we later found to be crushed). We wanted to build a water garden and a habitat of native plants. Drew from Creating Sustainable Landscapes came in and 1. Suggested remediation approach and Calculated the size of rain garden needed to handle our runoff 2. Researched and recommended best native plants for our site 3. The crew dug out the area to create a basin, 4. Connected PVC pipe to downspout and ran underground to the basin, 5. Remediate the soil, 6. Planted 7. Mulched. All in three days. The Crew was punctual, polite and boy did they work! Drew delivered exactly what was estimated when he said he would deliver it. So far no water issues and we have a showcase garden admired by all our neighbors. We love the results so much that this has become phase 1 of our landscape project.
