Zabrene Scapes

I hired Zabrene Scapes last year to landscape my front and backyard. They did a wonderful job and I looked forward to the following year when everything would have grown in. Spring arrived and things started to bloom and grow. However, some of the plants did not show signs of growth. In my opinion, the plants needed to be replaced but I wanted a review and opinion from Zabrene Scapes. I notified the company in ample time with phone calls, emails, and texts in early spring. My notifications have not been acknowledged. I haven not heard from Zabrene Scapes landscapers.

I hired Zabrene Scapes to do a large spring yard cleanup with pruning, mulch, removal and replanting of plants etc., install a drain in my yard, and to do monthly maintenance through the fall. I spent twice as much as I have paid landscapers in prior years to do cleanup, partially because I had a lot to do this year and partially because Zabrene came highly recommended and discussed doing some renovation to my beds. I thought I was getting premiere landscaping service and they were very nice and attentive during the quote process. They installed the drain with no difficulty and performed the cleanup, but did not do a better or more thorough job than prior landscapers, who had charged much less. They moved and removed plants, some of which could have been replanted elsewhere, but instead they took them with them. They left behind some rubbish (cut limbs, plastic bags), which I emailed Walter about and he came to remove it. That wouldn't have been a big deal had I felt like the rest of the service was satisfactory. They did not install enough mulch, especially in my shade garden, and did no weeding of my beds during the cleanup. I discussed this with Walter, the owner, who promised to install more mulch and said that weeding would be done during maintenance. I did not feel that I got what I paid for with the cleanup, but was assured that with the monthly maintenance it would be taken care of. My contract specified that a three person crew would do my maintenance. However, for April, only Walter came and sprayed extensively over my beds, including several native plants that were not weeds, some of which I emailed him about to tell him to avoid in the future. He came back and sprayed them again, despite my email, but then promised to replace plants that he mistakenly sprayed. This again would not have been terrible if Zabrene did what it promised. He pruned a few bushes but did not prune the rest of the trees and shrubs as contracted for. I emailed about this and Walter promised to have a crew come out in early May. No one came. No more mulch was installed. Around this time his partner had a health issue which caused some hiccups, but I received very little communication, no three man crew, and no completed April or May maintenance. Zabrene promised to have mulch installed "ASAP" (which was part of the original cleanup in March) and a three man crew on May 24 or 25. I waited and heard nothing, so emailed on May 25 and received a response that they were behind again and would come out later in the week. At that point I canceled my contract. I never received the full service for the spring cleanup which cost about $5000, no additional mulch which I had already paid for, and no replacement plants for those that were killed when sprayed by herbicides. Even though I canceled the maintenance contract, Zabrene should have fixed those issues. This experience was beyond disappointing to me. Walter was very nice and cordial, refunding my maintenance deposit.

Zabrene Scapes were simply amazing to work with. Our patio and fire pit are stunning. From the patio plans/ drawings to the implementation of the design Zabrene was fantastic to work with. I would highly recommend using them.

I highly recommend Zabrene Scapes, They were very knowledgeable in looking at our lawn and seeing what needed to be done, making suggestions and being respectful to what our vision was. They were also very hands on, working with a large crew and staying after to make sure everything was cleaned up and to their high standards. Incredibly prompt in their communications, and they were on time and thorough through it all. They cleaned up the yard, put in a beautiful stone wall, repaired our fence, removed a fallen tree, removed a broken limb—it was great that I could count on them for so many different jobs. I love them, and I love what they’ve done with our yard. I would recommend them to everyone!

We have used Zabrene Scapes on three separate occasions for landscape work, replacing our sidewalk, and some drainage work. They have always done a great job for us at a fair price. Pete and Walter are very pleasant to deal with and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing any type of landscape work.

If you have water issues on your property; have little or no experience on how to stop your property from becoming a swimming pool; and, are looking for the best solution, and a company that complete the job just like they said they would, you need to contact this company. My backyard has more definition and useful space. I would give all my landscaping projects to Zabrene Scapes.
