I would not currently recommend Shades of Light for your projects. I normally like them, but they are currently having some serious challenges with fulfillment. Ordered 2 sconces on August 16th. Was sent an email saying the order was delayed with an expected ship date of 9/15. (Understandable given the current times). 10/18 over a month past the new expected date and still no lights and no further status emails. You can't check your order status online so I had to email customer support. Got an auto-responder from the CEO saying they can't keep up with fulfillment or customer service calls/emails and that it could be a week before I heard back from Support. Save yourself the trouble and shop elsewhere. The world is experiencing delivery delays but seems other companies have it better figured out.

I purchased vanity lighting from them in December, 2019. The electrician could not get the lights to hang straight due to a flaw in the design. I reviewed the lights on the Shades of Light site and they will not post it. The product shows only 5 star reviews. Buyer beware.

The best I can uncover with the information shared in your message above i.e. "vanity lights & December" is that we are talking about an a order you placed for 2 2- lights vanity lights that went out in December. That order does match up well with the info you shared above as far as the timing is concerned; however, there were no notes in the order mentioning any issues with the quality of the product. Moving forward with this info anyways, I noticed that the same vanity light you purchased does in fact have a poor review on our site from a verified customer named, "Debbie." This review sounds similar to what you have shared here on Houzz. If you follow this link and expand the reviews and then sort the reviews by the "star rating" you can bring those reviews with the fewest stars to the top. My best guess is that will get you the one you are looking for.

Pretty terrible.
No website indication of backordered product status, no email indication of backordered product status, no email when the product finally shipped several weeks later. No tracking number provided (once delivered, the box sat in my mail room for days before I went to pick up a different package and saw it sitting there), no free shipping for orders or returns, no ability to combine returns.
Product was ok, not great. Design concept was pretty, but the execution was disappointing. Came with scratches/bent areas on the metal pieces, black smudges on the ceramic, and the base of the pendant didn't hang perfectly parallel to floor. I didn't even bother opening the second box, which arrived about a week after the first one, because I knew these were going back.
I requested a return label for ~$16/box and sent the two pendants back. Was informed it could take up to a month to see my refund after the pendants were received, though luckily it ended up being quicker for me (about 2 weeks). Finally saw the credit go back on my card and the amount was less than the amount I paid for the two pendants, minus shipping. Turns out, they charged a 10% restocking fee BECAUSE THERE WERE SCRATCHES on the pendant, which is part of why I sent it back in the first place. Outrageous.
TL; DR: Unbelievably poor customer service and not great quality. I'll never order anything from this company again.

I ordered 16 lampshades all 4” almond. I got 5 with a white rim. So they already set us into trouble with our customers. We are supposed to be bothered farther now with the return. The culture regarding what it means customer service, is non existent. Thanks to customers companies survive. They should worship them.

I just checked with customer service and already en route to you are 5 replacement shades. These shades were sent at no charge. There is no need to return the 5 incorrect shades since the replacements were sent at no cost.

Buyer be ware! Their shipping fees are outrageous! One small sconce was $39 in shipping and I live in the same state as the company. And, that's just one purchase. Another order, $140 in shipping. And, if you need to return. Watch out!

Buyer beware! We returned all 3 lights we bought from them because the lights didn't match our decor. We only opened one box of the three and returned in perfect condition. They ONLY refunded the 2 lights! The lights were $217 each, which they didn't refund for one of them. Plus charged $60 for the return! We will never buy from this company again!!! Beware, look at their reviews on Yelp! 2.5 stars, horrible service - bad business.

Do not order from this company. I ordered a light fixture for my dining room and was very excited to receive it. I tried for several hours to put it together, but there was a broken piece and several crystals missing. I contacted customer service (their email address on the website doesn't work and bounced back) via phone and they sent me a return shipping slip. It took several weeks, but I finally saw a refund hit my credit card. However, they didn't refund my original shipping cost ($49). I called again and customer service told me that the item was not defective and that it was returned to inventory. So now, not only am I out the shipping cost, someone else is going to receive an item Shades of Light already knows is defective and I'm sure they'll collect another $49 shipping fee from the next buyer(s).

This store has the worst customer service. I waited for my item for 2 months and they never even notified me that it was backordered. When I called the first time they told me it would ship in a few days. It didn't. I finally called again and they told me that it wouldn't arrive for another month--but that they couldn't guarantee that date either. Then I had to argue with the customer service rep for 20 minutes about canceling my order. I finally had to ask for a manager. Do not use if you actually want to receive the item you ordered. From looking on other review sites, I am not the only one who has had these types of problems.
Bottom line: Shades of Light is unprofessional and unreliable.
