Gilley Kitchen + Bath
Marion, CT Kitchen and Bathroom Designers

“John, Steve and Mike, the crew at Gilley Kitchen and Bath are our "go-to guys" for all things home improvement. We have hired them on multiple occasions - they replaced our kitchen, guest bath, living/sitting room remodeling, window/door replacements. The largest project they handled was converting an unfinished garage loft into a master bedroom suite with full bath; this was a large project involving just about every element of home improvement - insulation, roof work, sheetrock, electrical, plumbing, HVAC. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. The gang at Gilley K+B are honest, considerate, and responsive. They perform high quality work. You'll get real value for the money spent. If I ever have more home improvement projects, Gilley K+B gets my business! What else can I say? I love these guys!”

“Working with Erica and Showcase Kitchen when remodeling my kitchen was a great experience. She was on mark with every detail. The family owned business was friendly and personable on each and every visit. It has been nearly three years since my kitchen has been done and it still is my favorite room in the house. I loved what they did so much, that this year I hired them for my bathroom and my closet. The level of attention and costumer service was worth every penny and I would recommend them for any home build or remodel.”

“We visited Brunarharns over 35 years ago and purchased a hand crafter dining room set, which we have kept to this day. Quality Construction. Our visit to Brunarharns in August 2014, confirmed our belief that the family has continued the same high quality standards and the same caring attitude.”

She stayed within our budget and was one step ahead of us through the whole project. She was terrific to work with and I would highly recommend her to others. I love love love my new kitchen. Sue H.”

“Matt Modglin of Kitchen Living is both creative and detailed. He has an excellent eye for design, and immediately provided solutions for our kitchen. He asked about our budget and made a point of staying within it. He also kept us apprised of the delivery schedule, updating us as needed. Kitchen Living sets a very high standard for customer service, and Matt is a real pleasure to work with..”

“This is not a typical review, but our association is unique and I trust that yours would be the same if you were to select Irene Design as your consultant. We met Irene at a home show. We had been thinking about remodeling the interior of our home, but wanted a design consultant to work with us. We contracted with Irene Design to be our consultant. During the first visit to our home to take pictures and discuss with us, what we liked and disliked, I pointed out to her that the carrying partition on the first flow did not run parallel to the outside wall. Thus, any pattern in the flooring would also appear to diverge from the wall. Irene, immediately suggested that the tiles be installed at a 45 degree angle, which totally eliminated the problem. We then continued to work with Irene on the layout of the bathrooms, the wallpaper selection and the carpeting to mention only a small portions of the interactions we had with her in arriving at a design that met our needs and tastes. We had differences with Irene, but in each case Irene was always open to our suggestions. We would sit and discuss the pros and cons of each change and were always able to arrive at a decision that best met our needs. Once, we had finalized the design, we prepared a bid specification setting out exactly what we expected the contractor to do and what we would supply. This bid specification was given to 4 separate contractors including Irene Design. It should be noted that Irene had assured us that she would work with whichever contractor we selected to assure us that the design, such as the tile layouts in the bathrooms would be done as she had planned. While all four contractor bids were fairly close, Irene Designs bid was slightly less, so we selected them to perform the construction. At the same time we had also contracted with an electrician and a painter/wallpaper hanger. The electrician did an excellent job, however the painter made some serious errors in prepping the stair case walls for papering. After several attempts by the paper hanger to repair the problems, it became evident that all the paper in the stair case would have to be remove, the wall repaired and primed correctly and then repaper the whole area. Irene Design, on learning of this said that they would do the repair work at cost to help us out of this difficult situation. For these reasons, we highly recommend Irene Design if you are considering a remodeling project. If you would like to discuss our experience with Irene Design, we would welcome your calls”

“WHAMSCO did a complete remodel of my 1970s-style kitchen in my 1923 house. It was a total success. The design was good, the people who did the work were top notch, and we could not be happier with the results. Herb Jasper recommended excellent subcontractors with whom he has a relationship, but he was also willing to work with people you've used before and want to use again (e.g., painter, tile installer, etc.). Herb carries Elmwood Cabinets, a Canadian company, and the quality is very fine. Our remodel involved moving a door and a window and replacing several others, removing a mudroom and incorporating that space into the kitchen, new cabinets, counters, appliances, a large island, lighting, painting, etc. I have an adjacent pantry which is also a laundry room which was part of the project. Herb/WHAMSCO was involved in creating the overall design, finding and coordinating the work of the subcontractors, cabinet selection and ordering, granite selection, working with the town inspectors, and other major decisions. I selected my own appliances, lighting, tile, and paint colors. I consulted with an excellent local decorator, Jim Christopher, on some aesthetic decisions (especially tile design), but this was a modest cost and did not have a major impact on the budget. One of the reasons why I went with Herb (I talked to quite a few companies) was that I liked the idea that I could meet subcontractors and choose which one to work with. This was not as time consuming as it sounds; there were only a few people involved. Everybody Herb brought onto the job was top notch--especially the building contractor (Peter Cirilli), the electrician (Joe Terwecky), and the plumber (Bill Rogers). I also liked that Herb had so much experience, particularly with old houses. Because I paid the subcontractors directly, I knew I wasn't paying a mark up to Herb for their services. The overall cost of my kitchen/pantry project--including many appliances, high quality finishes, and EVERY SINGLE THING--was $65,000. Herb is not a slick character, he is one of a kind. Don't be put off by that. He is honest and although he talks a lot, he listens to what you say. He visited the job every day and was on top of things. We pretty much finished on time. There were no budget surprises. Some of my friends have had kitchen remodels using other firms; I am one of the most satisfied.”

“Advanced kitchens remodeled my entire kitchen including a design change from the existing kitchen, and installed cabinets in two baths. The entire team at advanced kitchens was such a pleasure to work with. They are professional, courteous, willing to do what it takes to please the customer. They keep you informed about the process, so willing to answer any questions that you might have, and generally most of my questions were emailed after hours, yet I received answers the same evening. I would highly recommend using advanced kitchens. If I need these type of services again in the future I would not hesitate to use them again. Cassy”
