“I found Schanstra Design Group on Houzz upon inquiring about hiring professionals. Gladys called me and we met shortly thereafter to discuss the project of relocating rooms in our home and remodeling our kitchen. The family room is becoming the dining room and we are busting out a wall, moving it a few feet to make our kitchen wider as well as completing a full kitchen gut and remodel. Gladys is super professional, experienced, very attentive, smart, confident, and she has amazing vision and design ideas. Just look at her work, it’s gorgeous, flawless, and breathtaking. Here’s the crazy part, I wanted to hire her immediately but didn’t. We decided to test another contractor that was recommended by a close and trusted friend. We hired him to begin with just the smaller project first; the dining room remodel. It included a fair amount of electrical work, removing some old built-in tv cabinetry and replacing it with a custom build dry bar. What an absolute disaster!!! I can’t express how awful he was. He broke pieces of my custom made bar and his work was terrible. Not to mention that one of his workers was insulting and another had to go home early to nurse a hangover. I wish I was making this up but sadly it’s the truth. It’s still not finished several months later. We cut him loose because he’s an incompetent moron. Thank goodness we didn’t sign on with him to do our kitchen. After my rage and disappointment subsided, I called back Gladys at Schanstra Design Group. We met with her a couple more times. We have happily signed a contract with her to do our kitchen. She will also be fixing the mess that the last contractor left us with. I cannot express how at ease she makes us feel. I feel like she’s going to make our kitchen vision come to life in an absolutely amazing way. I know that whatever might come up, she’ll make sure it’s taken care of. I have such a great feeling about this and we are so excited to get started. Don’t be hesitant about calling Schanstra Design Group. She outlines everything in a way that makes total sense. You’ll understand exactly what is in the estimate and what your project will cost. She is honest and forthcoming about the realistic price of a quality remodel. David and his team thoroughly overhauled our two-bedroom apartment - they sanded and revarnished the floor, retiled both bathrooms and put in new cabinets, refaced the kitchen cupboards and painted throughout. They got it all done quickly and to a very high standard indeed. Everything is beautifully finished and we are delighted with the work. David gave us tips on paint and tiles, picked up materials while we were away, and helped us save money in various ways. “Alanis development came to us initially in 2012 or 2013 when we had a water infiltration issue. They were given the job because we were impressed with Ulises' ability to comprehend the full scope of the job at hand, not just what we as the homeowners told him was the problem. He worked quickly and efficiently, and most importantly, cleanly. Part of the job was a dusty/moldy wall replacement in an elevator shaft. Before working, him and his crew not only protected the main area where they were working, but took the care to seal up the higher floors as well, effectively keeping the dust out of the rest of the house. Their attention to detail led us to hire them repeatedly for jobs at the house, as well as some rental properties we own. Work included turnover painting and repairs, mold remediation and drywall replacement, tiling, appliance installation, and most recently (Jan 2015) a bathroom remodeling in a downtown High-rise with wickedly restrictive contractor work rules. I would say we have given them somewhere between 4 and 6 jobs over since our initial work a few years ago, and my only complaint is that sometimes I can't get him when we need him because he's previously booked. Which, in a way, is the best thing about them. Knowing that others must be just as satisfied with their work as we are.”

“I initially hired this company to install the new kitchen cabinets I purchased from Tri Star Cabinets in New Lenox. The Tri Star salesman recommended Bayern as one of their top installers. When Joe came out to meet with us I asked him if they did other remodeling jobs. After several meetings we decided to install a solid oak floor throughout our entire 1st floor, remodel our kitchen and dining area, gut and completely redo our master bath and retile our other 2nd floor bath. The entire job took 10 weeks to complete. Joe plus all his crew were friendly and professional at all times. They were very clean as we continued to live in our house the entire time except for the two weeks we were on vacation. The workmanship was excellent and the project manager Mark had great attention to detail. Four years later we are still very pleased with the job that was done. The one things that stands out for me is that Joe the owner is a man of his word. Things that he said he'd do he always followed through on until everything was done to our satisfaction. Three years after the job was completed our kitchen under cabinet lights were flickering on and off. I called Joe and he immediately diagnosed it as a faulty dimmer switch. Two days later one of Joe's men stopped over and installed a new dimmer free of charge and the problem went away and hasn't returned. Now that is what I call great service. Thanks Joe”
