“This was our first time building a house and we were a bit apprehensive of how stressful and difficult the process would be. Nate and his team were fantastic! We were included as much as we wanted to be, adjustments and design changes were welcome, the entire project was well organized, and any issues or concerns that we had were addressed quickly. Everyone that we worked with was friendly and I've found Nate to be extremely fair in each of the situations that we worked together. We worked primiarily with Jamie and he was excellent at communicating what was going, worked quickly to resolve any problems, and was always friendly, professional and approachable. Even after closing, communication has been easy and open. We love our new home and we're very comfortable with it. If we were ever to build another house, I'd build with Nate and Jamie without a single concern. It was a great experience!”

The effort put forth to keep the project moving in an organized and timely manner helped us as the homeowner keep on track with decisions and budget. Their guidance and attention to detail during the process were exceptional and truly evident in the quality and craftsmanship of the home. The carpenters were outstanding and were able to create exactly what we were looking for. “Red House was our GC for an eight month gut renovation of an 1840's farmhouse. They were fantastic to work with from the first call to their office thru the finishing touches just after we moved in. They provided ideas and consulted throughout the design process, sharing options for needed products, vendor and retail suggestions. As some items inevitably changed during construction they were understanding and willing to adjust. They ran a very neat construction site and kept the project on time. Chris Quinn oversaw the project from a business/planning perspective, David Matesi was point person on site (and a talented blacksmith!) and worked with Dave, Nate & Arna - a great team all around.”

It is a very rare to find craftspeople who are also eager to build houses that work as truly integrated high performance buildings, but it's a testament to Shelterwood's desire to build houses that are high quality both inside and out. They milled white pine from the project site into beautiful wide plank flooring with the same excitement as they dove into the technical aspects of Passive House energy metrics. We would happily work with them again at the next opportunity.”

“Birdseye has been amazing from start to finish. The project began 2.5 years ago, we were living in London and building in Vermont, we wanted a Vermont Architectural Firm and discovered Birdseye. We had a basic concept of a 'Modern Barn' they brought the concept to life brilliantly. It was an amazingly collaborative process, dozens of decisions throughout the building phase. They were respectful and accommodating when we felt strongly about something but we could also count on them to give their professional perspective if they disagreed. The project is now complete, I would recommend Birdseye without hesitation. This is not the only amazing house they have designed but you really sensed their professional pride and excitement in what they do. Also, they are really super people to work with and we enjoyed the engagement in every step of the process. The second best decision we made was to contract with their construction side of the business, equally as amazing!”

“We have a camp on a lake in NY. The property has two homes which were both in need of major repair. Our first cabin we used a local craftsman, he was good, but was not done in a timely manner and had to come back for a lot of finishes. When we decided to redo our "main" house we chose McKernon and it was the best decision we made. The builders started on time and the project was completed on date agreed upon in the contract. The site was always clean and orderly. The craftsmanship in the cabinetry was top notch. I really can't say enough for the company and employees. If I was going to build again, I would hesitate to call upon them.”
