We are a full-service Vermont-based design firm. We offer a collaborative design studio that effectively and creatively pulls everything together starting from building concepts to interior design. There have always been two large problems in the design field. The gap between architecture and interior design, and the gap between design phase and construction. Often there is a lack of communication between these important multi-faceted phases, and because of this, information can get lost, designs watered down, and details missed. We provide full-service building designs and interior design services to bridge that gap. We collaboratively work with a large network of other expert building professionals as well as structural engineers and builders so we can assemble the best team that can meet the specific needs of your projects. This keeps our overhead low so we can provide the best design for your project while keeping our design fees reasonable. Our decades of hands-on experience both in the field of architecture and construction has allowed us to gain a deep understanding of the needs of both fields. We have developed a successful practice and process that allows the project team to foresee and carefully consider project needs early in the design and planning phase. We pay special attention to all critical building technology elements as well as creative elements of good architectural design such as scale, form, function, and proportion, as well as the psychological effects of natural and artificial lighting, color, and building materials and textures. We are also very sensitive to the environmental impact of each project. Our design packages are highly comprehensive and detailed and we continually receive praise for it from both our clients and building professionals. Our attention to detail results in a fully comprehensive design package that is ready for pricing early on and during each phase of the design so together with our client we can stay within budget. By choice, we have kept our firm a small design studio, allowing our role with clients to be that of a designer/partner. We only take a small number of projects at a time so we can give our undivided attention to each project on the board. This allows us to interact with our clients on a personal level, understand their specific needs and wishes, and create a functional and rejuvenating living space for our clients.

Located in New Haven, Vermont Silver Maple Construction was founded by lifelong friends Sean Flynn and Mike Steele. Through the years we have brought our personal values to bear at Silver Maple Construction where we place a strong value on respect and responsibility to the project, our customers, and the environment in which we are lucky enough to live. On all of our projects our number one goal is to meet the needs of our clients. At Silver Maple Construction, we are known for taking ownership of our work. When we are working on a project, whether it be a small addition, a comprehensive remodel and upgrade, or a sumptuously appointed super efficient new home, the details, structure and overall perfection of that project are as important to us as they are to you.To us every home should be a reflection of the owners, how they live, and the environment in which it sits.Listening carefully to your preferences, understanding how you want to live in your space, and considering the existing space you live in helps us understand how to best implement your project. We can work directly with you or with your team to make your dreams come true. Over the years we have built great relationships with a number of architects, designers, and trade subs and we welcome working as part of your team. To us, sustainability and “green building” are not new or revolutionary ideas; they go without saying . The real challenge is in executing a project that is not only on the cutting edge of building technology, but also rich in detail and built with the kind of quality that will span generations. We have a 4,000 square foot wood shop that gives us the ability to produce high-end and high capacity custom built-ins and cabinetry. The shop is conveniently located on the corner of River Road and Route 7 in New Haven, VT for easy loading/unloading of freight. Tour our galleries and find out how we can work together to build you something remarkable. When you’re done, give us a call and let’s talk about how we can help you make your next project or home a success. Our approach celebrates collaboration and creation. The term Studio in the firm name refers to an architectural design process of collaborating with individuals and goes well beyond the walls of the studio. Our belief that the client has much to bring to the design table as well as the various craftspeople and general contractors who execute the designs is fundamental to the success of the project. Architecture is a complex process that involves many skilled and well-informed people, but also relies on intuition and a vision. As design leaders, we bring together a strong team of professionals to not only complete your project but ultimately exceed your expectations by bring your vision to life. Each home design project, like each client, is unique. Your needs, style & taste are of the utmost importance. Your budget and building site are all interdependent and equally crucial to project success. Each aspect of your project is a work of art waiting to be discovered and will ultimately BELONG to you. We find our inspiration for architectural designs by understanding your needs and desires and making them a reality for you to enjoy for many years to come.

Cambium Construction is a residential design build team based in Middlebury, Vermont. We can build from your architect produced plans or design from your own ideas and produce a product that meets your needs and design aesthetic. Chris Stackhouse -President of Cambium Construction has been in the building business for 40 years. In the early years of Chris’s building career he worked for several respected construction firms, but found that being self employed was much more fulfilling. Designing and Building comes naturally for Chris and seems to be in his blood, as he comes from a long line of family architects, artists and builders. He is a master carpenter, artist, drafts person, energy conservationist as well as historic preservationist. Chris recognizes that a home is probably the largest and most important investment a person can make. He wants to insure that every project which he has involvement in is not only built to the clients design aesthetic, but also is practical and suits their personal lifestyle. Chris also believes that any project whether it is new construction or a renovation can be and should be energy efficient and built from high quality, low-maintenance materials. Our motto “Building quality for life” kind of says it all. To date we have built or renovated 8 high performance homes. One of our highest performance homes has achieved an ACH 1.2 and HERS score of 40. We hope to find a customer who wishes to work together on a passive or net zero home.
Over the past 25 years, Gordon Dixon Construction has built more than 50 homes for families of all sizes and preferences. Though our roots are in the Vermont vernacular style, our projects have evolved to include a variety of styles, ranging from classic Vermont farmhouses to large contemporary timber-framed homes. We have also completed several commercial award winning projects including an office and medical building, an athletic facility, and a restaurant/lodge. Gordon Dixon Construction was started in 1991, when my wife, Robin and I, were in search of the ultimate Vermont farmhouse for our own home. We built our own home, blending the traditional design and details of an old farmhouse with the functionality of a more open interior. Our ideas and design became the Innisfree house. Robin and I still work together along with our on site crew of foremen and carpenters. We have lived in Stowe since 1991 and have three children. Building a home is a deeply personal experience. We maintain open lines of communication with our clients throughout the process to ensure that the finished product meets their needs and expectations. Our seasoned team of project managers, foremen, carpenters, and office staff works closely together to build quality homes that we know our customers will enjoy for years to come.
