“John and Kim recently rescued the Sikkens stain finish on our three mahogany garage doors. The prior re-coat of the doors had failed in many areas requiring days of carefully scraping and lightly sanding the failed layer while minimizing damage to the original coats that were in good shape prior to applying several finish coats. The doors turned out great.
When I posted the job on CL I said I was looking for an artisanal painter knowing that the job was beyond 99% of the contractors out there and I was unsure that I’d find the right folks. Boy did we find the right folks!!! Ask to see photos of the painting, gilding, stenciling, plaster repairs and more that they have done in church/basilica restoration projects. Old 1950 lathe and plaster over cinderblock house with a lot of cracks and settling. Instead of painting the walls we decided to have them repaired and re-plastered. This Pro from Dover has a "can-do" attitude. Former professional golfer and you can see it in his approach and craftsmanship. Easy to work with. Very careful. Leaves no mess behind. An incredible job. Standard to custom colors. Seals the plaster. Talk about variation in what you can do texture and color-wise. I would say that the fact we had him do one room, and then asked him back two more times to finish the rooms in need of repair, speaks volumes. The product is great. The owner-operator is an artiste in his applications. The luck of the draw and we came up a full-house.”
