“Tara & Doug from Of The Essence are the kind of professionals you dream about finding. I am an interior designer in Wilmington, NC & they have completed several projects for me over several years and I was 100% satisfied with their methods and the results. They worked beautifully as a team to execute complicated & simple jobs after obtaining a thorough understanding of the requirements. They created a beautiful diamond patterned stain design for my home art studio floor and applied several rooms with faux hand-finished wall treaments & a unique zodiac ceiling for one of my clients who was also thrilled with their professionalism, reliability and skills. I am in the process of renovating several areas in my home - which Tara & Doug are performing the paint finishes. They are flexible and responsive and have great ideas and tons of energy that take a lot of pressure off me. I highly recommend this talented and personable couple.”

“Y’all who have been here know how striking our powder room is: deep purple with super white trim. It badly needed painting and one day Walter Wooddell was sitting in the front porch rocker when a guy walked up, canvassing our street in Woodberry Forest Neighborhood, Wilmington, NC. So Walt showed him the bathroom and The Painter Guy said he’d be glad to paint it. It’s hard to do something so dark (and old). Plus it needed nail pop repair and caulking pulled off and replaced. This guy, David Okenfuss, did FAR more than anyone else we tried through the years. REALLY gorgeous job. In addition my dogs loved him and even I was comfortable with him in the house, even when we were not home. Worth every penny. Extraordinary work.”
