Leonardo's Painting
Popcorn Ceiling Removal Companies in Redmond
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsJanuary 29, 2022
“I've worked with Jeff/Leonardo's Painting on multiple projects at two different residential properties, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and his team. Jeff is a creative problem solver, and has a network of other craftspeople he can call on to help with non-paint elements of projects (like carpentry and electrical). He's quick to recognize and think through challenges, and has a talent for carefully outlining the various options for solving them and the impact of each proposal on the project cost. He's responsive and easy to work with, which is important to me - I can trust that he's handling every aspect of the project so I don't have to worry about it. Leonardo's is my absolute go-to for painting.”
Ubiquity Painting, Inc.

Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsNovember 11, 2021
“I got three bids to have my first floor walls, ceiling, and new baseboards and trim painted. Ubiquity's bid was in the middle. But the reason I chose them was Josue (Principal) was the only one who really listened to me and thought about some issues I had never considered. His communication skills are excellent; he kept me up-to-date on his progress and if there were any issues he discussed them promptly and offered solutions. I also appreciated the little extras he did like make a minor repair to my sons door and replace all the door hinges with the new hinges I bought. There was a lot of work to be done, those baseboards and trim seemed to be never ending. They look absolutely beautiful as do my walls and the repair to my ceiling. I have a very high bar when it comes to contractors so I don't give out five stars often. I strongly recommend Ubiquity Painting.”
Fresh Paint LLC
Popcorn Ceiling Removal Companies in Redmond
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsApril 6, 2021
“Eric and team did a great job on our interior painting project. We had two upstairs bedrooms with vaulted ceilings, plus a stairwell that stretches up to double-tall ceilings. That area also needed some drywall repair. They were flexible to schedule around our needs, very responsive to our questions, and the actual fees came in slightly under the original estimate. The painters were courteous and friendly, and they did a great job. Not to mention, during these covid times, they were very diligent about wearing their masks while in our home. If we ever need another professional interior painting job, we would definitely hire them again. Thumbs up all around.”

House Painter FAQs
The project duration varies depending on the size of the area, ceiling height, the presence of hazardous materials like asbestos, and the new finish you choose. Typically, a professional team can remove the popcorn texture from the ceilings of an average-sized home (about 2,000 square feet) in 2-5 days. This timeline does not include the additional time needed for refinishing or repainting the ceilings.
Professionals stay updated on the latest materials and design trends through continuing education, industry conferences, and their network of suppliers. When advising homeowners, they consider factors such as the homeʼs overall design aesthetic, the homeownerʼs personal style, maintenance needs, and the budget. Companies might recommend smooth finishes or textured alternatives like knockdown texture, based on what is trending and what suits the home best.
Homeowners should remove as much furniture and décor as possible from the rooms where ceilings will be worked on. Cover any remaining items with plastic sheeting or drop cloths to protect from dust and debris. Itʼs also helpful to provide clear access to work areas by removing any obstructions. Some companies may assist with this preparation; be sure to discuss this during the initial consultation.
Common challenges include discovering asbestos in the popcorn texture, managing unexpected structural issues, or achieving a perfectly smooth finish on older ceilings. Professionals are trained to handle these issues efficiently. Asbestos requires special removal procedures, while structural concerns might need repairs before proceeding. Achieving a smooth finish can involve several rounds of mudding and sanding, which professionals are adept at handling.
Professional companies will take care of all the cleanup following the removal of the popcorn ceiling, including dust and debris disposal, removing protective coverings, and ensuring your home is as clean as it was before the project started. For finishing touches, this can include smoothing out the ceiling surface, priming, and painting with your color of choice. Confirm the extent of these services during the consultation phase.
The primary health concern with popcorn ceilings, especially in homes built before the 1980s, is the potential presence of asbestos, which can cause severe lung diseases when inhaled. Professional removal companies are equipped to test for asbestos and, if present, use specialized procedures to safely remove it. It is crucial to not attempt to remove popcorn ceilings containing asbestos on your own. Always rely on professionals for this type of work.
