This company seemed very professional but I received a high price from them and had to pass. A lot of my friends and family have used them before and some were happy, some were not. I believe they sub their work so you don’t always know what you are going to get and the pricing is hit or miss. I gave them a three star because they seem like they could be a good company but just too much money and uncertainty.

I highly recommend Somerset Painting. Here’s why: Our project consisted of two parts: carpentry and paint. We needed to replace about 200 sq.ft. of second level wood siding which had deteriorated over the years. It was not an easy job, because the lower level roof cut across at an angle, so each new panel had to be cut to fit then hauled up and put in place. Also, about 3,000 sq.ft. of wood siding and overhangs on the rest of our house needed painting. Most of the work was completed in one long day, which minimized the disruption. This was through hard work, not cutting corners. Julian and crew were justifiably proud of the end result. The new siding and paint look terrific. Careful prep work meant joint lines that are crisp and clean. In addition, the paint process, which consisted of spray, back-roll, and follow-up spray to blend the painted area, resulted in a very smooth appearance, including under the overhangs. Rick Hartsell, the founder of Somerset Painting, took on our project with just a handshake. A deposit was not required. His confidence that we would be happy upon completion was a deciding factor in our decision to hire them. Our house looks like new.

We recently had Somerset Painting paint the exterior on our 1926 Craftsman Bungalow. We were very impressed by Rick when he came out to quote the job, pointing out many things that others did not. We can also not say enough about the painter assigned to our job Tim Mitrofanov. His attention to detail, care for our property, plantings and execution was stellar, and I would highly recommend him to anyone!

Julian and his team were amazing! He is an artist—I had almost the entire interior of my home painted. It needed plenty of repairs and problem solving but they got the job done. Everyone who has seen it, including other contractors, are very impressed.

Somerset painted the brick exterior of my two-story colonial. I hired them because Rick impressed me as a man of integrity and high standards. The crew was prompt, professional, and efficient. Only one day of prep and one day to paint. I would definitely use them again.

The vendor is very responsive and professional. We asked them to fast track our project and they were very accommodating. The owner Mr. Hartshell support a very noble cause and we were impressed by that as well. Hannah in the office is so nice. The crew came in on time and were professional and they did an amazing job. The entire process was transparent and easy and we would definitely recommend it.

We had a painting and staining project for 3 rooms and a basement staircase/stairs, plus staining some cedar siding on a few walls. We had some delay in scheduling, but we did ask for inside painting during outside painting season AND we told them we were flexible, so I can't truly fault the delay. The crew was professional and friendly and did exactly what was outlined in the estimate.

The exterior painting of my home was done excellently, the work was professional and the job was done in less than a week.

Workmanship was good, Owner Brad worked with me to adjust the final amount it was still higher than I would have liked but more in line with what was done. I did not realize the estimate did not include the cost of paint (it did state this in the estimate, but I wish the person giving the estimate would have stated that the paint could run $800+). ----- ORIGINAL REVIEW: We starting getting estimates for painting in May 2021 and ended up getting Somerset because Tim did an excellent job of reviewing the house and writing up the estimate. The estimated price was towards the top of the estimates we received, but we went with Somerset because of the amount of positive reviews on Angi List. We were hoping they would start the job in June but due to rainy conditions they started towards mid/end of July. When the painters did come out to start the work they never called they just showed up to power wash the house. Also they said we needed a lot more wood replaced than Tim estimated (almost doubling the amount of the job) We decided to due it anyway even though we were over budget. The painters came back 4 weeks later (again completely understandable due to the heavy rain) my wife noticed that the name on the vans was a DIFFERENT paint company NOT Somerset. Following up with Tim, I had some more concerns including the agreement vs the work. Tim told me the Owner would call me back... I waited till the evening and still no call, I called Tim with more concern and I guess the owner called the Crew lead and NOT me because the crew lead talked to me about some of my issues. Again I took some pics of my issues and asked Tim to have the owner call me. I finally talked to the owner and he said they were doing it right (EVEN THOUGH it did not match the contract). Also the Painters charged me for 30 hours of work, where the whole job was finished in about 20 hours? With only 1-2 person working on one wood job and a different person working on another and the other person painting... how does that add up? Next when they were cleaning up they told me that it cost 250 for disposing of the wood....... I was getting very upset and annoyed. When they left I noticed that they did not paint the top of the chimney where it is metal (they were supposed to, it was in the estimate) when I called the painters they said they do not do that. Next I called and talked to Brad (one of the owners) he said they would eat the cost for the disposal (it was later removed) plus the additional cost of lumber and the cost of the paint (which I guess is not included in the original estimate).
