“Southbay Design & Landscaping redid our backyard over 4 years ago, and have been maintaining it ever since. They are very responsive to any requests we have and are thorough in the maintenance of our yard. I appreciate that they will plant new plants for us if we pick them up and have given advice on what kind of plants work around our yard. They even help out by fixing our sprinklers without us asking (we actually hadn’t realized it was broken but were suspicious of why the grass wasn’t growing well in one spot). We appreciate their professionalism and good work.”

“Nato Vargas and his team did extensive drainage work for us in 2014. This involved taking down the soil level 4 inches in the back garden, digging and installing several french drains and a sump pump. Since then we've had no water accumulation during subsequent rainy seasons, protecting our foundation. The drainage works perfectly! Nato and team have come back twice, in 2017 and 2020, to repair and stain our back garden fence, resurface the gold fine decomposed granite paths, install a new mail box, replace a garden gate and build a wood shelter for our recology bins. Nato and his team do beautiful work!”

He takes the time to review your needs and offers suggestions. Our new sod lawn and plants make our home look beautiful and brand new. It’s like a model house! Joel took the time to go with us to select the plants to go along with the new lawn. His prices are reasonable and his workers great. We had 1,000 square feet of lawn plus a tree and plants added. “As a professional landscape designer, I don't trust just anyone to install my designs, and I'm wary when working with a contractor for the first time. But when my VIP clients needed a swimming pool with spa and waterfall, stone patios and seatwalls, cedar arbors, a built-in BBQ, lighting, plantings, a putting green... the works!... I invited Jeff Veliquette of Lifescape to bid, based on similar projects in his portfolio. My clients ultimately hired Lifescape -- and man, am I glad they did! It was an ambitious design with lots of opportunities for failure... and Lifescape turned it into a stunning success. Somehow Jeff not only kept track of countless details and changes, he and his crew executed them to an extremely high degree of finish. They truly take personal pride in a job well done, and obviously understand the meaning (and value) of terrific client service. Jeff also has great vision, and I was completely comfortable entrusting him to develop my ideas into a beautiful reality. Lifescape's foreman was a consummate professional as well, handling even my unreasonable requests with grace and good humor. All of us are delighted with the outcome of this project; and wary no more, I will be recommending Jeff to install more of my designs in the future.”

“My rule of thumb is to get 3 quotes and pick the middle. I also tend to believe that projects can double in time and cost. Juan and Outertainments asked about our budget and then stuck to it (the only of the 3). Juan was very genuine in his feedback when we were getting our initial quote. Unlike other quotes where it was "yes" to everything (inevitably blowing the budget away), he helped us understand the value of some choices over others (e.g. cement vs pavers). Since this type of project was unfamiliar to us and we weren't certain on details beyond some high level things, he was able to take our suggestions and help us understand the final results. He was also flexible with giving us a few quotes as well as understanding what aspects could be split out to future projects. Abel (the foreman) and his crew came out and were PHENOMENAL. They were thorough and professional. They went above and beyond regularly. I joked with him on the last day that I'll be seeing him soon when we're ready for the front yard to be updated. I can't recommend them highly enough.”
