Ours is not a small job - we've excavated a basement; moved the kitchen, downstairs powder room, laundry room (which went from 1st to 2nd floor); and moved a lot of walls and reconfigured closets to dramatically improve our space. We didn't know where to bookend the project, and could see endless options for how to improve our home. We interviewed multiple architects - familiar names that had signs up on the best streets. It was immediately clear that Lorin was the architect for us - he took in the important character of the home (and setting/land, neighboring homes, and street), he saw how we could shape the project to make the most of our resources and opportunities, and his communication style was unmatched by larger and smaller specialty firms alike. He's insightful, funny, has decades of experience in his craft, and (this is where Lorin really hits it out of the park) his design eye is so excellent that he is saving us from hiring a host of other professionals to make our finished result truly sing. In some ways I'd love to keep Lorin Hill our little secret - I can count on only one hand the service providers that so exceed my expectations that their fees don't seem high enough for what they provide (note the design comment above, and he's smoothed enough husband/wife remodel debates - helping us each see logic - that we'll happily enjoy our home for years to come, marriage intact). If you're lucky enough to find Lorin Hill with a space in his schedule that fits your project, grab it. If we ever win the lottery and have unlimited funds, we'll be back to take up all the rest of Lorin's time.”

“This team was contracted to do the architectural work on an addition to my home. I sketched out the overall design. Nong listened and offered his suggestions. At the conclusion, his overall design and improvements when far beyond what I had envisioned. He walk through all the paperwork and time needed to get all the permits which allowed me time to take care of the family and talk about the new look. The project is still under construction, but I know my family and I will be happy with what we both (myself and Nong) envisioned.”

She was a total professional who attempted to work through all conditions to get our project completed in a timely and effective, accurate manner at all angles. At one point where she was slightly delayed and fully apologetic - we later discover she had a sick child in the hospital while trying to complete our work! Gwen was also very adaptive to working with the designer and contractor that we already had on the project. “Kathy Rogers and her team at Sogno Design Group created a fabulous design for my kitchen. She listened well and incorporated the features most important to me. She provided 3 conceptual designs that were all great options. After I chose one she guided me through the decisions I had to make and the resulting design was a significant improvement. I now have a beautiful kitchen. Kathy was a pleasure to work with. Notes: the project cost below is for Sogno services only. The construction and appliances cost significant more. Architecture services were approximately 10% of the total. The photos attached are by homeowner and include some old furniture that will be replaced.”

“Leigha Heydt was our second architect hired for our project. The first didn't work out due to lack of understanding each others goals and budget. Leigha was a breath of fresh air in every way. She took out the intimidation factor in our first remodel experience. We immediately loved her straight forward honest approach and her knowledge of building a home (she has contractor experience). She was quick at assesing our needs and got straight to work on our plans. The plans were extremely professional with meticulous details that made every process after (finding contractors, engineers, etc and getting town approval) a breeze. Leigha understood us and always steered us in a realistic direction to keep to our goal. She has a very keen eye for use of space and pleasing design... that is timeless and functional. I can not say enough about Leigha, she is very talented, a great architect. Our entire house was dated with a small, closed in kitchen and no master bedroom. Our house is absolutely fantastic now with an open big kitchen, amazing master suite and a beautiful flow throughout. We chose a more modern style that is very family friendly. Leigha was right there with every resource - websites, places to find every last detail needed in our home. Again, I can't say enough- she's an amazing architect and communicator, she's thorough, always on time, wealth of resources and the calm in what could be an overwhelming experience. She's the best!”

“Collaborating with the Freeform team has been a great experience and we are thrilled with the end result. We contacted the Freeform team after receiving a referral to them from a friend. Carlos and the Freeform team did a great job in gathering as much input from us about how we lived, how we would like our new home to facilitate living that our current home didn’t, and even went into great detail about how we used our kitchen, closets, and more. We received great guidance throughout the process and always felt that we could voice our opinions and desires while also getting good feedback about where we could change or approach things differently that we envisioned so that the resulting home was better. We were offered design options, which we re-iterated on a few times until we landed on a final option that combined the best of everything we were presented with. Similarly, we were presented with permitting strategies and during construction we always felt we received options with enough information so that we could make informed decisions. The only critique we have was that the construction took a bit longer than we anticipated, but the impact of this delay was minimized since we knew well ahead of time where we stood with regard to our schedule/timeline. This allowed us to plan for the extra 2 months of construction. Overall, we’re thoroughly pleased with the interior renovation and our new home.”

“A wonderful team who designed an elegant, amazing modern remodel and addition of our row house in San Francisco. The project had numerous obstacles including a load bearing wall that was over the property line, a very steep hill side with a ton of earthquake retrofitting required, and a bridge to link two buildings. They are wonderful at asking just the right questions to figure out the best uses of space and how to design for how you really live, are very professional, and extremely organized, articulate, and resourceful.
