Outstanding product and customer service. I will use Victoria again!!! Victoria, the owner of Pedini PDX helped us with the kitchen and baths remodel of our Condo in 2017. From the first engagement through the design , the order, the execution and the final delivery Victoria was very helpful and went above and beyond to provide the best service. In every remodel project and this one is not an exception we ran into some unexpected challenges, however in this case Victoria was always there to drive resolution quick and to our satisfaction. The project was completed on schedule and turned out beautiful. We are looking to use her again these days on our second home. Thank you Victoria!

My project was a root-and-branch kitchen design/rebuild. The original house dates from 1897 but it's been jerked around and added onto quite a bit so that the kitchen is now the very visible center of the house. I wanted to roll the kitchen and old dining room plus a disused bathroom into a single large live-in kitchen with a laundry area that could be closed from view. I also wanted a mudroom and a second sink to deal with heaps of muddy produce from my all-seasons vegetable garden. Paul Olson at Skandia had a nifty 3D program that allowed us to visualize and play with the layout. Two walls were removed; the mudroom was built out onto the existing back porch. Walls, ceiling, floors (including the ceiling below in the basement) were stripped to the studs. Skandia did all new flooring, sheetrock, paint, lighting, plumbing, windows, counters. I shopped for the appliances but Skandia installed them, including a massive range hood that was difficult to duct because of my low ceilings. I do a lot of cooking. I grow all my own vegetables, and make all my own everything. I've lived over twenty years in this house. So, I had a lot of views on how I wanted my kitchen to be. Like, a kitchen door should have all the fiddly little individual glass panes that take two days to paint around, not just one big pane with lined divisions. I need the counter lowered where I roll pastry. I wanted new cabinets, and a lot more of them, but reusing as much as possible of the original vertical grain fir... All this to say, I may not have been the most easy-going client to work with. Too, the hundred-plus-year-old house has no straight lines or level surfaces. There were random hot wires in the ceiling and mummified rats under the floor. Of the three design/build contractors and one architect I interviewed, Paul Olson at Skandia was the only one who seemed really interested—I don't mean in landing the job but in the house itself. He got the vibe. Paul has an artist's eye and experience with period styles. He walked me through all the kerjillion design choices and kept me real with the budget. When I needed to pare down he helped me pare, and where I wanted to splurge he enabled (that fabulous green stone countertop!) His cabinetmaker, Alexei, even built me a red lacquer "Chinese" cabinet for my collection of CDs. Skandia was not the lowest bidder. But Paul stuck religiously to his estimates. There was not one single surprise. Every single workman who came to the house seemed to have known Paul since their dads went to high school together. The men were uniformly competent, punctual, and a joy to have around. Especially, Paul's right-hand man Bil Frost must be the handyman in the mind of God. Bil never left the house without cleaning everything. There was no detail too minute, too fiddling, to often, too back-breaking. Haul the old fridge to the basement? Sure! Need to cut out the basement door frame to make it fit? Hey, no problem. I blush to think how often I heard Bil say, "She wants..." But I got it, whatever I wanted. The job took three and a half months and cost a staggering amount of money. I love my new kitchen with a sick passion. I would hire Paul (and Bil! I would adopt Bil) again in a shot. And actually the whole look and flow of the house are so improved, if I sold the property today I believe I'd make my money back.

As a designer, I have worked with many cabinetry companies throughout the years, and Rockwood - especially Brian Berg - are now in my top 5 best-ever. Their attention to detail, excellent shop drawings and thorough review of the design drawings and job site conditions made errors non-existent. Their showroom was a great place to meet with the client, and the custom samples for finishes and wood counters (personally delivered) made for a very happy customer. It was a pleasure to work with them and I happily recommend their work.

Diane helped us develop plans for remodeling 3 bathrooms in our 1970’s house. We chose her because her familiarity with accessible design. With a goal of “aging in place”, we wanted to expand our main floor powder room to include a curbless shower. In order to add this shower, we needed to reconfigure the whole bathroom as well as an adjoining hallway and our entry foyer. There were many variables to consider given our existing space, accessibility goals, and our desire to create an aesthetically pleasing room. Diane drew up several options and patiently worked with us through multiple revisions. She was a good listener and incorporated everything we requested when making these revisions. Diane also helped us develop plans for two upstairs bathrooms including an expanded shower and a walk-in closet in the master bathroom. After working with us through multiple revisions, Diane produced a comprehensive set of drawings showing the detailed space plan along with elevations from every angle and electrical diagrams. We are now in the process of interviewing contractors. Those who have seen the plans so far have said that Diane’s drawings are thorough and they will be able to work from her plans with no difficulty. We can’t wait to see these plans evolve into finished rooms!

Shane and his crew did a bathroom remodel for us, and a kitchen countertop replacement. They also replaced our front door. Doing remodel work with homeowners living in the house can be complicated. Shane and his people were professional and accommodating, working around us and out schedules and needs while getting the job done. We are very pleased with the work that was done. The quality of the work is top notch, and their customer service is excellent.

Caryl consulted with us on some updates to our townhouse and then coordinated all of the subs. My husband and I both work full-time, so it was great to know that someone was acting on our behalf and making sure everything got done without us having to be hands-on....and on-site. She made great color and materials suggestions for the changes we wanted, and she has assembled a great team of specialists to get the work done. We are very happy with the results and are now working with her on a master bathroom re-do.

Josh Anderson, the owner of Master Builder Design and Construction, LLC is a first class contractor. He is my first call when one of my clients needs a painter, handiman, or remodeler. I trust Josh completely to do the job right and never over charge. He is a man of integrity and skilled in what he does. I have hired Master Builder for work on my own home and have successfully referred him to dozens of home and business owners. I have never received a complaint about Josh's work. He takes his reputation seriously and always does the right thing for the customer.
Northland Design & Build

We purchased a home built in the 80's that needed extensive remodeling. Our real estate agent recommended Rod and Gina at Northland Design & Build. They gave us a ballpark estimate of the work we wanted done which helped us make a competitive offer on the home. This was a 12 week project. They gutted and remodeled the kitchen, two bathrooms, created a new laundry room , converted a room into a 4th bedroom. We spent a lot of time with Gina designing the home. Once the work started, Gina was very involved making minor adjustments along the way as the project unfolded. They stayed on budget, on time and there were no surprises. I can honestly recommend Northland Design and build with no reservations. Great to work with.

Todd and his team did a great job with our kitchen remodel from design to build, start to finish. He was clear with communication, and helped guide us through many decisions while respecting our preferences, budget, and timeline. Highly recommended, and we're looking forward to remodeling our bathrooms next! -Rik & Mark
