Fireside Home Solutions
Fireplace Repair Companies in Portland
Average rating: 4 out of 5 starsDecember 30, 2014
“Update: The owners of the company both called me and took time to understand the problems, both with the fireplace and with communication. One owner and a sales person came to our home and helped diagnose the problem and even got it going for a few days with the battery pack. The service tech and electricians came out about a week later and found the problem was apparently a faulty receptacle installed with the insert, they replaced that and now it works fine. It has added a lot of warmth to our home and is very attractive. In spite of the bumpy start I now feel that they did work to resolve the problem to my total satisfaction. I have never posted a negative review before, but unfortunately I have to say my experiences have been mixed with this company and the products they sell. The initial experience was okay - the showroom sales person knew the products well and was able to discuss them with me knowledgeably. Then it turned out our fireplace did not measure large enough for the inserts I was considering, and we were told we had to accept a smaller insert - fine, we accepted their expertise even though it was not explained to us in full why this was so. The installation was great - the crew was knowledgeable, clean and meticulous. However, 5 days after we had our new Heat-n-Glo Supreme 130-C installed, it failed! It will no longer light. I called the service folks at Fireside Home Solutions and was told they could not get out earlier than the next week to fix it, and they had re-arranged their schedule to try to make that happen for me, in spite of the fact that I could not be home on the day they had arranged. They would not fix it earlier, and part of the reason, I was told, was that they needed to do a 3-day confirmation call - I was told this _on the phone_, while talking to someone who could confirm the appointment! I just spent $3500 on an insert that _does not work_, and I would caution anyone about buying this insert and dealing with this company - be sure you understand how their service plan works before hoping to enjoy your new gas fireplace!”

“I absolutely loved the service and thought behind this company’s work, and so thrill by the result! I hired them firstly for a chimney clean, and then after they showed evidence of my 1930 stucco clad cottage’s chimney starting to crumble, consulted me on options (because not using it was not an option..) I decided on a smaller Morso wood burning stove that Louis thought would work perfectly in my arched fireplace. It has been a life-changer! Service and installation was friendly, efficient and done within a day. The rest of winter was bliss!”
All Fuel Installations & Service

“All Fuel is the perfect model of how to run a really successful business. We decided to replace our wood fireplace with a gas insert. We put out the project for bid on HomeAdvisor. Company A. We got an immediate response from Company A. The rep said he would call and schedule a time early the following week to look at the project and give us a bid. We never heard from him again. Company B came out and looked at the job. The rep said that our four existing gas appliances might possibly be over code for capacity given the size of the line. But he said the line could handle the extra fireplace insert and we could avoid pulling a permit. When we insisted we wanted to do the job right, he suggested that if we pulled a permit and they connected to the existing line, we should wait several months after the installation and after the sheetrock patches needed for the installation was covered and painted, to call the inspector, and then tell him that the insert was connected to an existing gas connection in the fireplace. His bid was quit low, but we decided not to accept. Company C was a reputable company but their price for the exact same insert as All Fuel had quoted, was about 25% higher. All Fuel on the other hand, came precisely when they said they would come. They were very professional, responded quickly to our questions… gave us an immediate… detailed... and understandable quote! Over the course of the project, All Fuel sent us 18 emails in answer to our questions or changes that needed to be made, beside numerous phone calls. What makes them a model company in my book is just one word: COMMUNICATION! (I’ll add another word: Professional!)”
