“Four Seasons Designer, Dena Serrato, met with me on several occasions at office and my home to envision possibilities for front walk and wall, and complete back yard design and plantings. Once the design was accepted she recommended materials, plantings, etc. All coordinated with views from windows, seasonal color changes, and more. This was a major job including more than 10 trees, dozens of bushes and dozens more perennial plantings plus flagstone patios, brick walls, and brick walks. Excellent service and very customer-oriented. The crew that did the installation was fantastic. Arrived on time daily. Worked without idling. Cleaned thoroughly each day so all public walks and passages on the property were spic and span. Work was completed on time and according to specifications. I have done major landscaping projects at previous homes. My experienced assessment is that Four Seasons Garden Center & Custom Landscape company and all the staff and contractors who worked on this project are First Class.”

“I originally contacted Karleen Shafer to help me with a design for my small backyard, which was used for parking, and completely overgrown with weeds and concrete debris from a torn down garage. Knowing nothing about landscaping or planting, Karleen provided me with two designs and photos of plantings that would work well for an inexperienced gardner. She was attentive to my requirements: a space to park two cars, a patio for entertaining, space for a gas grill, something aesthetically pleasing, and plantings that would be easy for me to maintain. I was so happy with the final design that I also had Karleen and her crew do the installation. This was a late fall installation, and her crew worked around rainy and cold weather to complete the project. She and her crew were respectful and trustworthy. The final layout was beautiful - a flagstone patio for entertaining, a gravel pathway to the tool shed, and a variety of tall grasses, bushes and plants integrated with the hardscaping. I received tons of compliments from family, friends, and neighbors! It was a total transformation and I have enjoyed entertaining and maintaining it for several years now. Karleen stayed in touch after the installation, making sure to educate me on preparing for the cold months (e.g., cutting the grasses back) and what to do in the Spring. All-in-all, an excellent investment with an excellent company with a friendly, hands-on and committed group of landscape professionals! Would hire this company again in a heart beat! “We would like to highly recommend Serge van der Voo Landscapes! We hired Serge and his team to do a completely new landscape and hardscape at our historic home on Ann Arbor's Old West Side. The work was extensive and Serge was very flexible in agreeing to break it into three phases to be accomplished over two years. The plan he developed was beautiful. He first listened to our likes and dislikes and got to know us. He spent a lot of time at the house and around the neighborhood. The plan he developed was meant to represent the era of the home, this was reflected in the selection of plantings and the overall design. The crews that Serge employed were prompt and courteous and cleaned up each night. Serge went out of his way to update us as the work progressed and to educate us about the care of each planting. Once the work was completed Serge continued to come back and check on things. If there were plantings that did not work as planned Serge explained our options and helped from there. “It was such a great pleasure working with Kari on this project - with simply stunning results. We started early on with Kari's 3-D digital modelling of her vision for the site, as well as reference photos for the stone components. We worked through a number of options for the dimensions and ultimate visual effect of the wall, column, and water feature stone cladding, working in concert with the lead stone mason from the installation company (Houston Landscapes), Kari (who maintained the communication with the client), and our stone supply options. As a relatively small install, the stone order needed to complete the job perfectly, with minimal overage ordered to avoid extraneous costs, while still ensuring adequate materials were on site. This required detailed planning of each type of stone piece; we built a flexible, visual reference model in MS Excel to detail the precise layout of the wall, column and water feature pieces before ordering these custom items. As you can see, the transformation of this space is exceptional. The client is thrilled. Throughout the entire process I found Kari to be extremely professional, available and responsive, detail-oriented, and all the while very personable and flexible within the boundaries of her and her client's vision. I look forward to the next time we can work on a project together, and would recommend Kari's services to any client.”
