“"We shopped around extensively for tile for our new home. We had several contractors visiting the house to measure/quote AND visited every single flooring store in St. Petersburg to price out material and installation separately. After all of that, Chris at Floor Covering International was able to provide the tile we chose at the best price and was the lowest bidder on installation. When the company you had the best feeling about comes in as the lowest cost, it can feel too good to be true! I researched Floor Covering International, read all the reviews for Chris and felt more comfortable with who they were and that they would do an excellent job. Chris had initially won us over with his attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond--he gave us advice on things we could do ourselves to save money, and presented different options to be sure we were as informed about the project as we could be. He visited the house multiple times and let us stop by his shop frequently as we selected tile, floorboards, and scheduled installation. As our renovation of our home progressed, we found a major problem when old tile was removed to reveal 150 sf of what we thought was concrete slab was wood built up from an old driveway as part of an addition. All of the sudden, we had a 150 sf hole in the middle of our house, with Chris scheduled to start tile in two weeks! I reached out to Chris and he generously provided his advice when he wasn't even working on our floors yet. He wanted us to have the home we hoped for, so he spent extra time visiting the house to see the issue, then even met with us the morning we had concrete poured to fill the hole--he wanted to be here (at 7AM, I might add), so that he could be sure it was done right for us. There was no reason Chris had to do that and we were honestly surprised he was willing to be so helpful with a concrete pour by another contractor--but it's this attention to detail that really gives Floor Coverings International the best customer service. Finally, the concrete was poured and it was time to start laying tile. Unfortunately, even with Chris' visit to direct the concrete pour and our specific instructions, the concrete wasn't perfectly level. Chris and his team spent 5 days, rented multiple grinders, and refused to rush anything because he knew if this concrete wasn't leveled, we would never be happy with our floors. I began to get concerned with our timeline because we had to move in. I shared my concern with Chris at a time when he was already overwhelmed by the additional work it was taking at our house and how that could affect their future schedule. I was a bit frantic but Chris was cool and calm, rallied up the crew, and made it happen. In the end, the floors and baseboards are incredible beautiful and we've gotten great compliments from friends. We know we would not have ended up with the same quality or finished product had we gone with someone else. Chris helped us every step of the way and was available any time; he put up with me when I was frantic about our move! It was a great experience and we'd recommend Chris and Floor Coverings International to anyone who wants top of the line customer service, the professionalism of a general contractor, and still the best pricing on materials and installation."”
