“If you’re looking for a very personable and enjoyable design process for your next home, look no further. After moving from out of state, we had purchased a view lot in a newly developed gated community and driving through one weekend, we stopped and talked to a neighbor who was working in their yard about their beautiful home and they recommended that we call the designer and gave us the number to Summit Ridge. We had talked to two others designers beforehand but after meeting with all three, there was no question who we wanted to work with and we couldn't be happier. The design of our home not only fits our new northwest lifestyle but its entire design was created around us. Each room was carefully planned out and is a reflection of our lifestyle. Highly recommended.”

“Patrick was simply awesome to work with. Most importantly, he figured me out pretty quickly, which helped in the design ideas we came up for my complete gut and redo of a 100-year-old little farm house, plus an add-on of a new master suite. For this project, we had to completely reimagine a space, moving from small rooms and lots of walls to an open-concept idea -- and we partnered on all of it. There were things I wanted to do that we weren't ultimately able to do which was such a bummer (no fault of Patrick's - cost, building codes, etc., made us switch gear several times); It's a journey and respecting and trusting Patrick throughout that was wildly helpful. And, he was very nice when I would come up with an idea that didn't make sense, and then would riff off what I was thinking to design things that were in keeping with my goals but that would work on a practical level. And, Patrick was very accessible - by phone and email when we weren't actually poring over design ideas in his office. All that said, the thing I most appreciated about working with Patrick is that he never, ever condescended to me about anything. As a single woman with a large project, I worried about this. I don't think that's even in Patrick's DNA. That said, he would explain anything to me that I wanted to understand better so I could make informed decisions. Patrick is also really nice. And funny. You will spend a lot of time with your architect (or you should!) and it's important to actually like that person. Patrick was honest, transparent and helpful throughout. The one bit of advice he gave me that I didn't go along with was choice of windows. I wish I had listened to him. Windows are a BIG deal in a house for a bunch of reasons. Patrick tried every which way to convince me on some styles (how they open, which way they open, where they are relative to sight lines, etc.) and I was set on some very specific ideas. And I regret it. I should have listened to him on that front. In short, I would work with Patrick again in a heartbeat!”

“As a general contractor, JDL Development has had the pleasure of working with Guggenheim Studio over the past 5 years on several projects. From the initial drawings and concept and the thorough completion of detailed drawings to the final beautiful and creative product they design; Every aspect of the collaboration has been extremely positive. Jeff and Jenny are very responsive, accessible and never lose sight of the goal: making the client happy. We have and will continue to recommended prospective clients to Guggenheim Studio.”

“Here is all you need to know: Dan is the best architect you could dream of or be blessed with. Boom. No more needs to be said -- --but I will anyway -- He is just amazing. We had a HUGE job -- new construction and 3/4 of the house taken down to studs. We are out at the beginning of the Gorge and traveling here was not a big deal for him. That was so helpful and refreshing! Our project took a long time, and Dan was never-wavering and consistent in his constant shepherding. Above and beyond only begins to describe Dan. Dan takes the time to get to know you, how you live and what your space could look like for you. He is daring, but structurally diligent and sound. He is cutting edge on sustainability and eco-efficient houses. His designs have grace, beauty, simplicity, and strength. See his website, but trust me: Dan is the best advocate and dream-maker you could hope for if you are going to remodel. One of (the many) things I love about Dan is how he loves projects big and small. It is the people he bases his choices on for who he works for. If he likes you and what you are all about, he will take you on. Don't be put off with that -- it just means he will take your project PERSONALLY because he cares about YOU. (Renz, the Jack Terrior, will probably have to like you too. He goes everywhere with Dan.) And if you can "let go and let Dan," he will exceed all the smart ideas you thought you had for your space. I thought I knew all the solutions and neat things for our project. HA! Never in my wildest dreams could I have thought up what he did. Every day I walk around our house and think: I would have never thought of this or this is just so perfect. You are welcome to come see my house... but you should be forewarned: you will not want to go with anyone else once you see what he has done and once I get through smothering you with my accolades for him. One more thing: listen when he tells you who the good construction companies are in Portland.”

“We're really enjoying working with the Giulietti/Schouten team designing our new beach home. When we were searching for an architect, we looked at portfolios from many firms and were struck by the breadth and creativity of their work. The combination of artistry, creativity, flexibility, practicality, and attention to detail they bring to their work is really impressive, and has resulted in a design much better than we envisioned. It's particularly impressive when the complicated site and extreme environment of our oceanfront setting are taken into account. We're very happy with the project and feel fortunate to have found this great group of people to work with! Follow-on now that the project is finished: Our home turned out beautifully. They were extremely helpful during the construction phase, helping us with the multitude of decisions and working with our builder to assure every detail was as it was envisioned. We were really lucky to have their team to work with! We give them our highest recommendation.”

“Neil Richardson. Nice gentleman, Experienced, Intelligent, and Listener. Our project from design to building completion unfolded beyond our expectations! The firm worked directly with our builder with any problems absolving us of the headaches. It was a pleasure to work with them. Did I mention that he LISTENs to the dreams and desires of the owner, while keeping with the theme and style of the project? Most important!”

“Richard and his staff were a pleasure to deal with. He was able, after some mild beatings, to assimilate our ideas and add his own to create a very useful amalgam. We still enjoy his input and appreciation of space. Our error was failing to hire him to supervise construction, in addition to designing the building.”

“Matt was part of the team from Rupp Family Builders who we contracted with to complete a remodel and addition to our home in 2015. Matt was the project manager and designer for the project. We had a small (925 sq ft) 1920’s bungalow that we wanted to increase in size. Matt designed a project that would double the size of the home. We added a family room downstairs and a master bedroom, full bathroom, and walk-in closet upstairs. We also slightly enlarged the downstairs bedroom. We only gave Matt some general ideas and “must-haves”: increase the size of the house and keep the 1920’s character of the home. We wanted the design to make it look like “one house” not an old part and a new part. Matt took our general ideas and drew up some excellent, creative plans. We were kept informed throughout the entire process. When the estimated costs exceeded our bottom line limit, he reworked the plans to stay within budget but also kept the primary design in tact. We were very impressed with Matt’s willingness to listen, his keen attention to detail, and his emphasis on getting everything perfect. He was always open to our suggestions, and clearly and professionally explained why something wouldn’t work if we were “off base” with what we asked for. Some of the creative design ideas that Matt suggested were the creation of a “reading nook” in one corner of the family room where extra structural supports were needed. This turned “dead space” into a comfortable, favorite resting spot with built-in bench seating. He also designed unique diamond windows in the master bedroom, a creative sitting spot half-way up the new stairway, skylights in the new bathroom and walk-in closet, and a creative design to enlarge the downstairs bedroom while still saving half of the existing utility room by stacking our washer & dryer to save space. I would not hesitate to have Matt work on other home projects. Perfection, attention to detail, pleasing the homeowner, flexibility, professionalism, easy-going personality are all skills and qualities that would define Matt and his work.”

“Robert did an outstanding job in all aspects of designing and rendering a modern house that my wife and myself just loved. He also was wonderful in his mediating between my wife and myself in getting agreement on what we really needed in a custom designed home. He is recommended highly!”
